The REAL reason why we don't get the special GT discs?

Well you do have a upside, you get some games that Australia dont get, NFL Blitz is one, i mean bloody hell i love that game but nooooo, cant release it in Australia, it is one of the most fun game to play with ya mates.

You get uncut versions of GTA where as the only uncut version we had was GTA3 but after 3 weeks of being out they took it off the shelves for afew weeks then bought out a cut version. From knowledge GTA: VC was cut also, even of a mission or so i believe, or a movie scene. And now we are in threat of having either a cut version of GTA: SA, or not getting it at all so think yourself lucky. Although Prologue was good, Concept wasnt anything to cry over, and to be honest neither is Prologue, but its still fun :sly:

Send me the cash and your address and I will send an NTSC PS2 and GTA:SA your way man. Got nothing against hooking up a foreignor with some uncut NTSC goodness. Hell I got a JP PS2 but never have had the cash to get the concept games or GTP when they came out. But I will get Tekken 5 when it comes out in Japan, you know almost a year before the US will get it.
 
hey, you think Americans get screwed, we Canadians havn't even gotten the Evolution 8 yet, and its illegal to import an R33 and R34 into Canada and actually drive it

its all due to some damn bumper law, and a stupid "unless a vehicle is sold at a dealership within Canada or older than 15 years its illegal" BS law

that means the R32 just recently became Legal here

On a similar subject... I asked my Bro who is in Oz... but he didn't take his UK PS2 with him... so I don't know whether or not Oz games would work on it... or Vice Versa... Soz buddy... I'll try to do some more digging though... I do strongly suspect that UK GTA:SA will work in Oz though...

Hey mate any help is appreciated. I might ask my bro to send me a demo of some sort form UK and see if that works. I am trying to get the P2 magazine issue 49, lol, so i can play hong kong but whether he can find it is another issue.
 
No probs pal... Get him to send you out a game or something that he doesn't play... either that or pick up a cheap used game from somewhere and post it over...

If memory serves, it was the mission "Cannon Fodder" for the Cubans. It contained the line "KILL ALL THE HAITIANS!", and Miami's Haitian community protested, sued and won.

That's why the USA doesn't get any games. PD are afraid they'll get sued by some stupid numbnuts who believes his/her ethnicity is being ridiculed. Or something.

That and poor old Akihiko Tan's allergy to yellow.

No that was a seperate incident, the Australian version of GTAVC had the hookers removed and that's it, no missions were altered at all. The Haitian thing happened last year and since then all GTA:VC copies have the Kill All Haitian text taken out.

And about UK and AUS PS2's, if both game and system is PAL then it will work as they are the same for both UK and AUS.
 
UK and OZ are both PAL systems.

So you're saying that it would work?

But what about Japan and US... they're both NTSC and they don't work?

I heard a breif rumour about a mission involving the Twins, who can be found as the poster on the map that comes with the game, but as said was a rumour. But yeh i want hookers in SA, whats so damn bad about it, in GTA3 u got in the car and the car shook and u look back she aint anywhere near you they both just sit there. Funny thing was when she would get out and then go a vomit, lmfao.

See its all humour in the end, restricing games with rating is alright, but for some reason we cant get a R rating in Australia on video games, but i am going to send a letter to the company which rates movies and games with a complaint as i think its about time they were told what they need to hear.
 
They removed the hookers? How ****ing stupid is that? They're a tiny, pointless part of the game - but I guess it means you can't have more than 200 health in Australian versions. I've used that feature once - to see if it really was true.

So what about the semi-naked women in the Pole Position club? What about all the cutscenes for Interglobal Films?

yeh everything elce is the same except for the hooker part.

New Zealand doesnt get cut games like AUS they have the uncut GTA games and they run on pal so if you live in aus get the games from NZ our $ is higher than theirs so you can pick the games up cheaper to!!! 👍 👍
 
There was alot of complaints from the Church communities about the Hookers. We get to see half naked chicks in the pole position, there is a half naked chick in the Malibu aswell. Good idea with the New Zealand deal, might just be worth it.

Me too. If I played the demo, I wouldn't anticipate the game coming out as much, and then I would fell sad. :( That's why I don't play demos.

Almost everything I care about is either European, Australian, or Japanese. Ok, so that's like 50% of the world, but still. I can hardly wait for my girlfriend to get her master's degree so we can attempt to "go somewhere else".

Like it either comes out in N.-A. first (american games) or Japan first (Japanese games). I could be wrong, but Spong.com are always bithing about getting games late.

Didnt you guys get your decapitations taken out of Ninja Gaiden as well? That sucks. Chopping off heads and seeing sanguine spray is the only way you can feel like a true ninja. :)
 
Actually.........Europe and other PAL areas are the ones who suffer.....we got the playstation 2 last (bar China!), we got GT3 a year after it came out in Japan.....you lot in America should count yourselfs lucky for getting things early.

oh and also NTSC J and NTSC UC are not compatable despite being both NTSC!

Some people will be racist over almost anything. For example, I can remember someone saying that Jar Jar off of "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace" (is that the movie? All I remember is the overkill of Pod Racing) made fun of African-American people. UPN9 in New York City had a segment asking "Is Speedy Gonzales racist against Latinos?" So all in all, people will accuse for almost any God-forsaken reason. And sometimes, they are pretty dull and downright stupid.

Someone is going to have to tell me how someone's ethnicity is being ridiculed with a game as harmless as Gran Turismo 4. Worrying over an ethnicity issue with GT4 is pretty g**damned pathetic. So what? Super Mario Bros. is racist against Italians and plumbers?

Close. It's the "Cannon Fodder" mission where the phrase "KILL ALL THE HAITIANS!" appears. On "Naval Engagement" its says "Kill the Haitians on the boats!".

For Naval Engagement you only need a Colt Python and a PSGI Sniper rifle. Do your Hidden Pacakges first to get access to them. The Colt knocks the six Haitians off in one fell swoop (without needing to reload). Then crouch down behind the wall and take out the remaining seven gang members (three on the verandah, one on the path next to you, one around each side of the house and one on the roof).
