completly out of order ect for me to be asking the next question so I appologise but.

How many cult TV and Film crashed spaceships can you name that they flew past in the Asteroid feild in that same episode.

Hi David! Nice to see you found this thread at last! Rachel says Hi! (My wife, not Rimmer's Rachel!!!!!)

Wow, tricky, never considered myself much of a science fiction fiend other than Dwarf & Hitchhikers, but I'll have a stab at a couple.....
Space 1999, Battlestar Galactica? Can only name the series, not the craft....sorry. :guilty:

So while this question remains, for Famine or DQuaN or DR to embarass me Science Fictionally, I'll ask what I was going to as well!

Given the choice of going anywhere and anywhen, where did Rimmer chose, and why?

Damnit! Just realised Dave's avatar is a dead giveaway too, there must be numerous ex-Star Wars hulks strewn through the asteroid belt too!
Watching the Little Britain DVDs at the moment so I'm not turning on Dwarf just to see what I recognise!
Famine will be awake in a few hours and will list them in reverse alphabetical order or something equally silly!!! :P

the space 1999 craft is the 'Eagle' transporter (missing it's cargo pod). Don't remember a BSG ship in there but I could be wrong. That's one :) There are many others :)

Hi Rachel :) Still miss you both after leaving my spiritual home in Ca :(

Nice 👍 👍

One of my favorite shows...

I'll have to watch the episode to figure it out, but I don't have time to since I need to work on installing my differential, in the morning, and then go to work... I'm sure Famine will come along with the answer soon...

Little Britain! It's just WRONG! But wrong in that funny way which is seen as subversive and politically incorrect in the US, and hence won't make any network premieres out here! Even if they attempted an ill-fated remake! (See also:- Red Dwarf, Coupling, The Office etc etc which took the infamous NBC remake nosedives!!!!!) but is also fabulously funny in original format but alas, cannot be edited from 30min episodes to 20mins to accomodate 10mins of unnecessary advertising!

"And if those pen pushers down at city hall don't like it, then they can park their overpaid asses on this mid-digit and swivel 'til they scream like pigs on their honeymoon." or Kryten's words to that effect which I don't remember so well while I'm drunk. :)

dangerously off topic here but the US version of 'The Office' is brilliant. Not as good as the UK version but in no way on Earth even close to such bastardised US remakes as coupling, Red Dwarf, Fawlty towers or Dr Who (the doctor isn't half human damnit :( )

Steve Carell is a God :)

back to smallhorses question. Not sure about this but was it a female only naturist beach in Acapulco full of bronzed, naked, uninhibited teenage temptresses?

They remade Red Dwarf in the US?... How did I miss that?... Fawlty Towers too?... What forms did they take in the US?...

Nope... Here's a clue...

It was so he could kill Belgians along side one of his favorite people from history...

Sorry, smallhorses...

;)

red dwarf in the US was an unaired Pilot. It still had the same Kryten but other than that an all new cast. It sucked soooooooo bad. In many ways odd that it never got shown since the US show so many other shows that are just as bad.
I think Cat was a woman in that one which kind of destroyed the whole 4 horny guys in space theme. They tried to make Lister more of a Han Solo than a slob too. Pretty much everything you would expect from a script produced by a commity that has no idea about the show they are trying to convert.

You can find it on Kazaar if your into that dodgy downloading stuff.

OK my bad :(

19th Century then to march alongside Napolean and Kill Belgians :)
Although I think if you gave him the choice he would have gone for my first answer.

Your first answer is from timeslides when he had a pic of the beach that he wanted to develop in the mutated fluid.

Not sure about the Psirens question. I'll watch it tonight.

Forgot about the Acapulco beach shot, but this is Rimmer we're talking here!
I was thinking of the chance to "kill Belgians" answer when I posted the question, and knowing Rimmer he'd have given up any thought of Acapulco beach just to be in the same tent as Napoleon! ;)
Anyway, guess we need to find out what all those crashed spaceships were first, before we get on with another question!:)

I only recall the Eagle, the Nova 5 (from an earlier Red Dwarf) and one appears to be the Liberator from Blake's Seven.

Oh my God could it be I have asked a question sooooooooo Geeky that even the mighty Famine is stumped :)

Although technically this question requires that you know a lot more British Sci-Fi than Red Dwarf (hint.... Couple of ships from films in there too.)

And No Smallhorses. As far as I know there are no Star Wars ships in there :(

Just had a look and can't think of any that haven't been mentioned. Apart from the main ship in Aliens (but i forgot what it's called!)

I don't think the Nostromo is there.

I think Famine made the best effore.

The ones I know are

Narcissus (Alien/Aliens) (Ripleys escape pod, Often mistakenly called the Nostromo)
Sulaco (Aliens)
Nova 5 (Red Dwarf)
Eagle Transporter (Space 1999) several times :)
Interceptor (UFO)
Skydiver (UFO)

There is a ship from Dr Who but I cant remember the name of it and I keep getting told the Liberator (Blakes 7) is in there but I can never see the damn thing :(

If they had put one of the Thunderbirds in there it would pretty much have been the best of the crop of British Sci-Fi :)

I have the episode, the Cat ain't a woman... unless there is some uber rare footage where a woman was cast as the Cat. Kryten was the ONLY funny character in the US version (only due to Robert), and had the only funny joke (you know the one about the fire exit sign he'd been looking at for millions of years...).

When Lister says "My baseball cards must be worth a fortune!" I knew that Red Dwarf had been butchered by the worst script writers imaginable. Its exactly the kind of unfunny, America-centric unsubtle obvious rubbish the yanks feel they need to put in everything they do. I particularly like the fact that the only Americans in the UK version of Red Dwarf are portrayed as incompetent fat people (Captain Hollister), or crazy terminator types (Hudson). Both of them enjoying their power...

The Sulaco is what i spotted. And I really should have noticed Ripleys escape ship!

Oh heck...

I've got nothing as geeky as that (though I should point out we screwed an earlier answer up - Lister was a Series 3000 Mechanoid briefly in "Out of Time" (S6)).

*plots*

can I be cheaky and ask another whilst Famine thinks of one then. Feel free to ignore if its against the rules :)

Lister was annoyed to find one of the crew had already filled in his memory test quiz. Who did it?

Your go Famine...

*cracks knuckles*

In all of the aired episodes of Red Dwarf, what is the total number of female companions shown on-screen for each main character (Lister, Rimmer, Kryten, The Cat AND Holly)?

Name them.

(as a head start, Camille counts for each of them apart from The Cat and Holly, and the Polymorph's first episode provides us with Jenny Ticmutant for The Cat and Rimmer's Mum for Lister).

Lister - Kochanski x2, His parralel self, Rimmers mum, Camille, Pete Tranters sister (Psiren), Can we count sprites? If so Loretta from Gumshoe and the princess "Has anyone got any whipped cream?!!", His gelf bride (i'm not writing her name), the dead woman from Epideme. Thats all I can think of. Oh yeah, i forgot her name, but the one from the golf course, "I was so excited, i nearly dropped my skateboard!!"

Rimmer - Yvonne Magrouder, Camille, Then countless from when he steals the Sexual magnetism virus. He also had a memory of a girl (I forget the name of) from "Thanks for the Memory"

Cat- The mermaid, Maralyn Monroe, Jenny the mutant.

Kryten - Camille.

Holly - Hilly, a ZX71

Thats all i can think of right now. Lister had a good run!

The girl from 'Thanks for the memory' is Lisa Yates (I just happened to be watching it last night) and would presumably count for Lister and Rimmer
