Oh man! I think i used to know that, but ill have to watch the episode over the weekend to remember it again!

Rimmer, from "Justice":

"The Cameron-Mackintosh forty-valve, air-cooled diesel the 184, it's almost identical to the 179, but have you noticed the difference? Can you see the refinement in the funnel edgings?"

:D

In other news, a DVD is jammed in my PC. It'd better not be Red Dwarf. :(

Hmm do you have one of those front loading ones, with the little pinhole in the front? Jam a "magic" unfolded paperclip in there, et voila! Disk should eject!
I'm guessing you've already tried that though! :sly:

While waiting - what 2 things does Lister rue not having done when he learns about "his" death while fiddling with Red Dwarf's NaviComp?

Okay! And I mean OOOO KKKKAAAYYY! I mean IT!!! OO!! KK!! AA! YY!!!

I wasn't sure I'd got it right, just waiting for some acknowledgement.

ANYWAY, due to me being slack and slow, I'll post a double question. Its within the rules I suppose if I frame it with a single question mark using one sentence. Here goes:

What TV series was a certain dwarfer sacked from during a certain rape trial, and what does the name Susan Williams mean to you?

No Googling, OKAY? OWW- KAAYYY?!!!

I have NO clue... Probably a kid's programme or a soap though.

Famine

What? Have I asked something so ridiculously hard that even Famine does not know the answer?

WOW!

The same dwarfer has a link to both parts of the question. I will give hints if needed.

Isn't Susan Williams a pseudonym for someone though? That rings a bell. No idea what (presumably) Craig Charles was dropped from though.

To quote Rimmer's answer to "Well, you can work it out. What's the craft's thrust to input ratio?"...

It might be a fluke (and I think you're just playing with it before answering), but I think you knew THIS is much more relevant...

"Okay, well, um, let's get cracking, shall we, Dave? What's the starboard engine's thrust-to-input ratio, Arn?"

than this (subtley different but worthless):

"Well, you can work it out: what's the craft's inertia rating?"

Famine, your quote is a slightly wacked out combination of both of these quotes ^ ^ ^. I don't know whether you were either ON THE CASE in an awesomely smartarse way or had NO IDEA!!!

I was just saying something to which the answer was "I don't know!"

So if it was close to the answer, certain flukitude.

I'm stumped... I don't live in Europe, so I don't get to see that much outside of Father Ted, Red Dwarf, Fawlty Towers, Little Britian, My Hero (which sucks), Are You Being Served?, Monty Python, My Family, etc... Not a whole lot of news about the stars of said series, either...

;)

The only thing I can think of that Craig Charles hosted was Robot Wars.
Left UK before any of the rape trial business, so I'm not sure if he was sacked from Robot Wars or not. No idea who Susan Williams is either. His defense lawyer?!!!

God, I could murder a King Prawn Vindaloo, 1/2 rice, 1/2 chips with a garlic naan & a pint of kingfisher at the moment. Maybe a Chicken Phaal instead, mmmmm. Nevermind, I'm back in Blighty for Xmas, I'll stop by Rusholme then!!!

I can see this is just too hard. Google is allowed. There's enough things mentioned (or implied) that you can put into google to find the answers....

Think before Robot Wars. I have already said Susan Williams is a pseudonym. In this way similar to the relationship of Dame Edna Everidge to the real person who plays the character in the context of a COMEDY PROGRAMME. What is this comedy programme, and what is a short description of this character? Thats the ultimate answer to the Susan Williams part.

Google is allowed. Even then this old history doesn't exactly have a large web presence. :scared:

This gets the first two words (of three) of the children's programme we are looking for the name of in the first part of the question.
"Okay, well, um, let's get cracking, shall we, Dave? What's the starboard engine's thrust-to-input ratio, Arn?"

So we just want the last word in the kid's programme's name that Craig Charles was fired from...

You guys will realise how amazingly awesome a fluke Famine made.... I have given you guys MORE than enough now. I practically told you the answer.

I've been checking. And it's bloody tough, I tell you...

Craig Charles had a series called "Go-getters" - "a daredevil series aimed at children" - axed amidst the publicity surrounding his rape trial.

Other than that, I think Susan Williams was a pseudonym for him, reading his poetry on some show or other...

Wow, that's pretty obscure! Let's hope we don't get into Brittas Empire or Spitting Image questions by association too! :P

Still got that King Prawn Vindaloo craving....why'd you have to ask that question Famine?!!!! :)

I stipulate that Craig was sacked from this particular TV series. Whether the show was itself axed I'm not sure. Not Go-getters. I've already inferred the first 2 words of the title of the show Famine!!! I inferred that quite clearly before with this quote:

"Okay, well, um, let's get cracking, shall we, Dave? What's the starboard engine's thrust-to-input ratio, Arn?"

I'll give you a hint: the answer to this question isn't "I don't know"...

Yes! Susan Williams is a character Craig played reading poetry. What was the name of the show?

Susan Williams was on "The Oxford Road Show" (never heard of it).

As for the other one - NFC. No amount of Googling or Wikipeding shows anything. It took a monster effort to even get the "Go-Getters" out of the internet. Useless bloody thing. It'll never catch on.

(and you imply with your text, we infer from it - grammatical nicety)
