The 'Ring, the F1 and the Weary one...

Oh man! It's scary to find out other cars are faster than the F1 on the ring, although I did try the Minolta against my ghost and while that Toyota is tricky to control it could stick with the F1 fairly easily and had a MUCH higher top speed. I don't mind the Pescarolo, I may change cars eventually but for now I really love the F1

rk
That shouldn't be possible based on power to weight ratio, among other things...
Your probabley right until you factor in the nitro which while its being used dramatically increases the power to weight ratio long enough to make the difference.

Well I think it's time for me to put the 'ring to bed (in both ways) I just gave it another couple of hours and I managed to pump out a 5'13.589 After viewing the replay and checking my split times I'm not sure I could get more than another 1.5 seconds off that without driving like a lunatic. How you got down to the sub 5's roadrunner will forever be a mystery to me, I know you probably drove the F1 in manual but I just bounce off the rev limiter too much and found auto much more effective but for now I'm happy with a 5'13.

As for the Minolta or the Pescarolo, I might dabble around with them but I think I'd like to move onto a new track for now, I might try Cote d'Azur. One question though roadrunner, did you try the Peugeot 905 on the 'ring? It has a better power to weight ratio than the Pescarolo and still offers nitro? I haven't played enough yet but thought you might be interested, it's a pretty fun car to drive.

Thanks again for all your help roadrunner and rk, when I post some decent times on Monaco...I'll be back ;-)

Nice, my buddy just bragged a 1'14.278 in the F1 (Monaco fanatic). I don't know if you'll need them, but if you want, I'll ask for his tune, I know he changes very little....

Yeah that'd be great, I'll probably stick with roadrunners settings for now and experiment from that base but if you find some neat settings I'll give them a shot.

Having said that though, I just watched the vid of veilsidebr's lap of the ring in the Minolta and I see a couple of points I could learn something from...maybe I haven't quite put the 'ring to bed :-)

After 3 laps of the 'ring I decided to put it to rest, 5'13 it shall be.

I just did a couple of laps of Monaco and put down a 1'14.940, I didn't even change the gear settings so I'd suspect I could crack a 1'13 given some practice, might keep fiddling on that track for a while. It's a nice change from having to master the 170 corners of the 'ring :-)

Put down a 1'14.277 I keep running into walls pushing any harder than that so that'll do for now.

Thanks a heap for this Mikael, I'll give them a crack :-)

I've decided to also give the Minolta a crack...she's a wild beast to tame though

Thank you for the time and set-up, my friend will be most chagrined, we will install a countertop together today and I'll tell him.

I have to agree since many tuners put much effort into this site and the one you advertized does not, to my knowlege, allow cross linking. Please apply a similar effort to record your excellent settings, in this way you can be a valued tuner at BOTH sites. 👍

Hi Mikael Ive already posted these exact settings on page one of this thread (before they appeared on GTvault as they are actually my original settings) I notice that the only difference youve made is the down force setting, if you drop the rear downforce setting to 95/100 and reset the 7th gear ratio to 1.500 you will probably gain enough top speed on the flat out sections to reduce your lap time without any detrimental effect to the handling on the high speed corners, hope this helps.

Hi roadrunner,

I was wondering, if it wasn't too much trouble, if you'd mind posting your split times around the ring in the 4'58 lap you did with the F1?

I've stuffed around with other cars but nothing is as much fun to drive as the F1 so I'd just like to see between which splits I'm losing the most time. My splits for my 5'13 lap are:

Split #01: 0'32.465
Split #02: 0'56.488
Split #03: 1'17.139
Split #04: 1'54.218
Split #05: 2'24.210
Split #06: 2'42.854
Split #07: 3'18.987
Split #08: 3'50.559
Split #09: 4'05.662
Split #10: 4'37.392
Split #11: 4'55.603

FINISH: 5'13.579

I know I lost about 1-2 seconds between splits 4 & 5 with some crappy driving but the rest of the lap felt fine so I'd be keen to know where I can make up time the easiest. I understand if it's too much trouble though.

hope this helps.

Thanks a million roadrunner, some pretty awesome splits there...will see what I can do :-)

Well Roadrunner, I worked out how to squeeze a little more time out but I think I'm spent!!!

I've done some awesome starts and the absolute best first split I've EVER got was a 31.995, and in your lap you got a 31.595. From there on I start losing time hand over fist but I've finally dipped into the 10's so I'm happy. Thought I'd include a screen shot, it's pretty poor quality but I don't own a digital camera yet.

Overall a 5'10.951 will do me...

...for now... :sly:

Hi misterweary, Thats a great improvement, I dont know how closely you are sticking to my original settings but depending on some driving styles standard asm setting of 10 and 10 can some times help, it seems from your split that your quite quick at the begining of the lap and lose time as you go, this I think is normal and as you learn the track your lap times will continue to come down(Ive been there myself), we all have our little ways of learning tracks and getting better times mine are, always finnish the lap even if you have an off(that way you drive the end of the lap as often as the begining) and another little thing I do to improve is load a fast ghost car and give it a head start (once you start catching it you know your improving) I hope these tips are of some help I believe from your early splits youv`e got a sub 5 min lap there somewhere.... good luck.

Thanks for everythings ! nice help !

here my split :

1 - 31,427
2 - 55,649
3 - 1,16,398
4 - 1,53,099 i lose 2 seconds !
5 - 2,20,849 i lose 1 second more
5 - 2,39,455
6 - 3,13,359 here i have just 1,42 second later
7 - 3,44,247 and here i lose 2 seconds !
8 - 3,58,926
9 - 4,29,375
10 - 4,47,488

5,04,562

I will try again in 2 other 3 days :)

Yeah I downloaded the vid for veilsidebr's lap, that is utterly ridiculous! I could maybe get down to 5'05 but my skills reach their limit right there!

Is that time the world record for GT4? I haven't seen anything posted about any faster laps anywhere???

any way we can check out veilsidebr,s settings for that lap?that would make for some pretty cool reading..awesome lap time,,cant see that ever being beat.i agree with you mristerweary i,m about a 5.05 man but thats ridiculous.

He did it in arcade mode with the Minolta so I guess there's very little you can do settings-wise, freakish stuff!

i,m not doubting you misterweary buy what mekes you think it was done in arcade mode?you can do a lap in the world circuits menu and use your own cars,my minolta drives nothing like that, for a start its all over the place after 190mph and as for goin round corners at thatkinda speed? ....forget it,,there,s gotta be something real special done to that car..i,m not questioning the mans driving ability its just the way the car handles especially at such high speeds,,,this video,s blown my mind..  :nervous: :ill:

If you don't speak frensh, the most important button on my website is :

"DONLOAD" if you clic of this button, you can :

download (with a right clic), or watching the video, or watching the setup

Thank you for the comments, yes i did that lap in arcade, so there´s nothing special related to settings. Just fully tuned it in quick tune, R5 tires and 420 kph gear settings, nothing more.

I just didn´t use TCS nor ASM. Nothing more. :)

Altough i see perfectly a 4'46, that´s extremely hard to get, but i pretend to get it someday.
