Will they ever sell the new volks scirrocco in America? I've never seen one. If not why haven't they???

I didn't know there was a new one, heck, I rarely see any of the old '80s one around. If the originals weren't successful here, then they probably will not sell the new Scirrocco.

Don't believe so, sadly.

Yeah, there's an HPA Scirocco here in Houston:

They probably won't ever sell this one here. It's too similar to the Golf.

Volkswagen should and probably will sell the car in the States.
They're a business; all they want to make is a profit and if they get enough demand then they will sell. It's a Golf GTI in a better looking but less practical form so that's the downside, however of they're selling it everywhere else I don't see why they wouldn't sell the car in America, seems like a no brainer to me.

its a 2-door sports coupe, front wheel drive. the new golf is a 4-door, 4wd. These American guys that work for a car magazine went to europe and did a review on one. They said they loved it. I want one. VW USA is dumb. They would sell loads of those in the US.

I would buy one if it was available in the US. It's like that Focus RS... why don't they just sell it here??

It sounds like VW thinks it will ruin the GTI's sales record in the US or something. People don't care about a company's sales records, they care about cars.
If this is true they are saying that they would rather be able to say "the Golf GTI is the best selling compact hatchback in the USA" (or something of the like, this is just an example) than sell a new car to Americans and make lots of money. VW USA is dumb.

The Scirocco is a 2-door (3-door if you prefer) FWD hatchback.

The Golf is a 2-door (3-door)/4-door (5-door) FWD hatchback.
The Golf GTI is a 2-door (3-door)/4-door (5-door) FWD hatchback.
The Golf R is a 2-door (3-door)/4-door (5-door) AWD hatchback.

It is much more complicated than that. Volkswagen North America would need to get the car certified to American safety and emissions standards, market the car, train the sales people, and finally get it to the customer. With the car nearing the end of its cycle, why would Volkswagen North America make the investment for maybe a year or two long run? Particularly when Volkswagen is bleeding money in the US?

Yeah it's not just a matter of putting it out on the market to sell here. There are ridiculous costs that go into selling a car. On top of those listed you also need to train all the mechanics to work on that model too.

Also there is the whole shipping thing and either needing to get a bunch of parts and molds to factories domestically here or shipping the cars over. If shipping the whole car now your looking at more boats (higher cost to consumer) or taking other cars off those boats to make room for the new. That means less Jettas, Golf's....

Or if making them domestically your taking away from the production of other cars to make these plus training new people to put these together.

There are a lot of things the end consumer doesn't think about that go into a car.

It's like that Focus RS... why don't they just sell it here??

Because they want us to buy a damn pickup truck instead. Or some garbage crossover.

I believe there was discussion somewhere that because the Scirocco isn't much more expensive than a Golf, but more expensive to produce, they already make a pretty thin profit on all of the ones they sell in Europe. After you do the Currency transfer, and the shipping, VW found that it wasn't really worth it.

The Focus RS was targeted at the European market i think, which is why they've not considered a powerful hatchback for the US.

The Focus ST will be sold here in about 6 months or so, it's going to be similar to what the RS was for the longest time. It's going to have 250hp and 260lb.ft. of torque. It's less than the RS before it, but the ST has a smaller engine. There are rumors of a 300hp+ ST coming, but I'll believe it when I see it.

As for the Scirrocco, it doesn't make sense to sell it in the US since we have a 3 door GTI. The cars would just compete against themselves so it isn't worth the hassle for VW to design it to meet US regs. The new gen version could come to the US, but I'm not even sure if they are going to make a new one.

Training salespeople? That takes 5 minutes, which is still a waste, because they don't remember anything by the time the customer has any serious questions besides the location of the glove box and radio.

There's a lot of little reasons, but I think one major reason is that VW has shifted a lot of production State-side, and so this might take a while. But VW shares tons (okay, hundreds of pounds) of parts with other VAG products, so a lot of these arguments are quite valid for many other manufacturers, but I'd say a lot less so in this case.

This isn't like wondering why R34s weren't imported to the US, where the car shared absolutely nothing in common with other Nissan products, and this market being adverse to high-priced imports during that car's introduction.

Bingo. It simply isn't economically viable to sell in the US.

Guess I'm just going to have to look for it on the black market, or hire a smuggler lol.

If they do, I'd very likely buy one if it had the performance to match its looks - best looking hatch on the market in my opinion. R version w/ AWD and 300hp? Then I'd pick one up in a second if it was under 35k.

Just sayin' VW, I can't be the only one. Bring it.

I like the look of the scirocco. they should have just changed the look of the Golf one year to look like that instead of putting out the new scirocco.

Yeah, but with no real proof (although, proof would be hard to distribute in this case). Sounds a lot more of a quick excuse, though.

I think it would find a home in America. People have already imported HPA tuner models through Canada. I think they would have a great audience here.

You can literally apply that to every single car manufacturer: why not sell their cars everywhere?

They're not going to. It's too similar to the Golf GTI and if the sales for one of their flagship models plummets, even if it's a VW, it's bad news, especially in the states because it's a huge market.

They are a business but they have to be smart about the it at the same time. They can't just sell every single car they offer at every single dealership around the world.
