Man, to think they have detection systems for Tsnumani's, which open up enough time for proper evacutations, this could've prevented thousands of deaths.

What's worse is seismologists knew these waves were coming, but most of the countries that were hit aren't members of the Tsunami Warning System. So they really had no idea who to call or warn. That must’ve been horrible knowing these things were coming, but not being able to do anything about it.

I sincerely hope Sage and all other GTP members who live in the area are safe and well.

Thanks for the concern guys, I'm doing fine. I don't live near the coastline, but other areas that were badly affected weren't that far from my place.

I hope Sage is okay as well.

Based on reports so far, there has been 24,415 people dead. Even countries as far as Kenya had casualites (sp?). :( This quake registered a 9.0 on the Ritcher scale and is the most powerful in 40 years, and 5th most powerful since 1900.

My condolences to all families who have lost their loved ones. :(

Yeah, some even reached Africa's east coast. That's like 3000 miles away!

Glad to hear you're all right. 👍

Good to know you´re ok dude!👍

I hope sage is doing fine too. And thank God we don´t have earthquakes here, it seems horrible.

I feel absolutely terrible right now because I completely forgot Sage was in Thailand. Quite frankly I can't even come to terms why I didn't pick it up, I'm really disappointed and ashamed of myself. I do hope he and his family are all right and not caught up in any of the events. I don't think many of us could come to terms if we actually lost such a significant member of GTPlanet.

I've been talking to under18carbon on MSN for a while now, it's really great that he's alright. I've seen some horrific pictures on TV and my thoughts are going out to all of those affected directly and indirectly by this tsunami.

There are some very intense pictures here of the tsunami hitting a resort in Phuket.

Glad to see you're OK U18C. When the news reported that 6000 people had been killed in one area my jaw dropped, I thought they had screwed up the report. Crazyness.

I noted that you had posted last night, U18, but I wasn't sure of the timing so I didn't know if you were still OK. Very glad to hear that you are!

Anybody seen pictures of the actual tsunami? That would be worth seeing, if only to know the sheer heartbreak of it.

I figure that if you were close enough to see the the actual wave, your camera probably isn't going to survive it. Maybe I'm wrong, though?

Damn, I'm really suprised I didn't think of Sage :indiff:. I really hope he's alright, it would be a huge shame to lose a member of GTP to such a horrible dissaster.

My condolences to anyone who was affected by this tragedy :(.

It's great to hear you are ok U18C! But I am actually quite frightened about how Sage is doing.:nervous::(:

Good to hear you're not one of the victims Carbon. :D

Sage though... I hope he's doing okay, and his family if they're with him.

There were victims as far as Kenya?!

Hmm, I'm starting to get worried about Sage, but he doesn't get back for a while and probably doesn't have computer access untill then. I assume he'd leave early after that though.

Something really is acting wierd with the weather. It's absolutely pouring here in LA, to the point that I couldn't hold traction on the freeway. I've been on the East Coast for some pretty hardcore thunderstorms, and what we're getting here is just about as bad.

One odd thing is that, when I heard the news about the Tsunami, I was listening to, of all things, the eurobeat song "Tsunami Comes"!

In Australia we've had a heap of short storms lately, usually every day. Very unusual.

Haven't had this down the west coast, but I noticed down the east coast a week or two ago it was nothing but storms. From the top of Queensland down to Tasmania. Very strange.

The rest of the family went to Pelican point, the local beach, to see if the tsunami had affected our tides but it didn't make a difference, apparently.

This is really starting to hit me seeing the pictures all night on the news since I can't sleep... And here we are freaking out over GT4. :(

Yes - You must understand that nothing is more important than GT4....

But yes - it is sad, really.....

This entire event reminds me of "The Day After Tomorrow" That was a great movie but to see something similar happen in real life is devistating. I hope everynoe is ok. :scared:

Glad to hear that Under18carbon is OK 👍
What about Sage? is he alive? Let's hope he is :indiff:
now come on, of course he is alive. he was on holiday so he was in a hotel which means he would be off the ground so he wouldn't get hit by the waves.

Going on TDATs timescale, half of us would be dead by now....

What's to say he was in a resort hotel?

I hope that they are ok too. If the earths rotation was affected dosent that mean that gravity would be affected and that the earth would stop spinning hence "the core" would happen and there would be a second ice age in some parts of the world and a heatwave in others. wow all that knowlege for a 12 year old.
An earthquake, even one as big as this one, would barely make a dent in the Earth's rotation. Don't forget, this is the 5th biggest one in the last century, and the earth hasn't stopped rotating and things aren't falling apart. Geologists are aware of evidence of far bigger earthquakes in the earth's history.

The Core was a load of scientific claptrap anyway.

The death toll at the moment seems to be at about 55,000. But I saw an aid agency representative on Sky News earlier today talking about some island group with a population of 76,000 which scout planes have flown over and they seem to be completely lifeless and abandoned. I haven't heard other news agencies pick up the story so there mightn't be anything to it, but some Indonesian officials have admitted that there are plenty of areas that they just haven't a clue about, so expect the death toll to rise and rise.

who the hell said we wouldnt have gravity anymore? I tihnk im going to go to the doctor, my sides are killing me. Dude, gravity is determined by the mass and density of an object, not.......wtf is he talking about?! That's pretty crazy that it could affect the earths rotation, but I'm sure iktm would only be rotation, and not orbit. Ironically I'm listening to Marilyn Manson The Last Day On Earth. God what's with all this freaky stuff? I should probably watch CNN more, but I find it to be too censored and restricted to keep americans happy and blind, I'll stick to CTV thank you. Our hopes go out to you Sage.

This is quite scary. Two of my brothers best friends are in Khao Lak right now and they were living in a hotel complex housing up to 1.000 swedes. As it seems now the government have no idea how many of them are alive

We talked to their parents today and luckily they were alive. The night before they decided to rent scooters and go into the mountains, lucky them.

Hope everything's alright with Sage and the people he's there with.
