Yep. I was listening to the radio when I heared an official announcement.
The reporter was on the scene and he discribed Iraqis and Coalition (sp?) troops acending on the statue. They tied chains around the neck and pulled down the huge iron monument, resulting with the head being torn off. The discription was of Iraqis crouding around the decapitated head spitting, kicking, and hammering on it. For a brief moment, as I listened, I tried to put myself there. An enourmous chill when down my spine and my entire body broke out in goose bumps. It was right at that moment, I felt an assurence for the first time, that we did the right thing. I think today, that scene, will be remembered in history, right along side other events such as the crumbling of the Berlin wall. It was exhilerating.
