If it's:

  • compatible with all recent and new race games
  • FFB shifter :D
  • ABS brake pedal with a load cell/pressure sensor/hydraulic brake
  • removable steering wheel
  • very accurate
  • economical price

I'll concider it; after I read tons of reviews and the wheel is at least half a year on the market.

Yeah, I agree, it has to be out for a while without any hiccups and good reviews, and maybe come down in price a bit

It's excellent to see some more pictures!
But were missing a few crucial angles:
1. The back of the pedals (need to know if and how they are detachable for cockpit mounting).
2. A shot showing us how the wheel mounts and where it's wiring attaches would be fantastic.
3. A shot of the shifter would be very helpful...there will most likely have to be considerable cockpit moderations for some who choose to run this new wheel in there setup.;)👍

BB is still selling G27? I thought they stopped carrying them a while ago? I picked up the last ones I have ever seen in my BB a while back for $150...

Ordered it on BB.com, it was backordered but it only took about a week to get it. But it was $299.

I think people in here should stop hyping this new wheel. It is so expensive, because PD tries to make a lot of many out of it, thats all. The paddle shifters are as big as the ear of an elephant, never seen something that was so ugly. You also have to consider, that the G27 has the best paddle shifters out there, I never missed a single gear with them.
Also, you should not freak out just because of the belt drive system. The fanatecs have a belt drive as well, but that does not mean that they are quiet. In fact, the Fanatec wheels are brutally loud. The G27 instead is super quiet altough it does not offer belt drive.
And I dont like the PS3 buttons on the wheel. They look cheap and toyish.
Master Kazunori is good at making money, but he lacks at making games recently. They should better support the G27 fully and stop this Thrustmaster-talk. You will probably pay 200$ only for the GT logo on this new wheel...

LMAO:tdown:

sooo... i ask again

does anyone know if the pedals shown in the pic, is 1 unit, which we will be able to configure our selfs (road car setup/race car setup) or are these 2 units, and we will have to choose which one to buy???

Chris

It's one unit that you can change the configuration for.

Yeah, it's one unit that can be positioned two ways. It looks like you just tweak the pedal faces and move the skid plate. I imagine there's a switch or button that swaps clutch and throttle function too. That's the only thing that bothers me. It seems the gas and brake will have identical spring tension. We haven't seen the back though; Maybe there's a way to toggle spring tension.

I'm also dying to see some information about the gated shifter.

The GT3 RS sounds a lot like the G25 which is also extremely loud. Does anyone have a comparison between those?

It has to do with the FFB mechanics, the G27 is the only wheel on the market with helical gears. If the T500 does not offer this technique it will probably be inferior to the G27. But the hyping has already begun...

Does anyone know if the paddles rotate with the new Thrustmaster wheel? This would be the only reason i would replace my G25.

Pardon if this has been answered, did not see anything after quick browse of thread...

They don't rotate it's like a Ferrari or other super cars.

Ok PD can we say bad idea why would you all even think of making this wheel offical with out a shifter.

Kaz says its sold separately

Someone said in another thread about this (the steering wheel section) that the paddles won't turn with the wheel. 👍

edit,

too slow, as usual.

Let's get in thing straight, THE DFP IS LOUD!!! Not the G25. When you're racing with someone online who is on a DFP, it sounds like they are strangling a small purse dog!

I'm expecting the T500 RS to be fairly quiet. My experiences:

Driving Force Pro (gear drive)- Loud! Lots of gear whine.
G25 (gear drive)- Acceptable. You tune it out when racing. Lots of FFB chatter.
Fanatec PWTS (belt drive)- Fairly quiet. Smooth FFB.
G27 (helical gear drive)- Surprisingly quiet, but FFB chatter can be really pronounced.

Anyway, I think the G27 and Fanatec belt-driven wheels shouldn't be a noise pollution concern. I imagine the T500 RS will be in this range too.

I would add G27 FFB seems faster than Fanatecs as well as it has less resistance probably because of the helical gears. The disadvantage of helical gears is it puts more pressure up and down the gear and motor shaft which normally has some play. This is probably why it so loud when the ffb motors is vibrating back and forward rapidly as in Dirt 2. I still like how G27 feels when driving on dirt in spite of the extra noise.

I guess that sharp clack from the gears would be normal in an f1 car. Normal road cars, however, have hydraulic power steering so the belt provides a similar disconnect (in feel) from the tires to the steering wheel. It just depends on what you want to simulate.

I guess if Kaz had his way it would have a switch so that you can use gears for race cars and belts for road cars.

My biggest question is if it's compatible with PC. That right there would be a major make it or break it

Not sure if anyone has posted this - http://www.thrustmastert500rs.com/
I had an old Thrustmaster wheel back in the day, it had brake and accelerator paddles and quick shift gear paddles all on the wheel, which was great as you didnt need to use the peddles or if you had a dissability. This unit was for the pc only though but was like wrestling a gorilla in the way of force feedback.

With any luck the pricing on this wheel won't be as bad as we think. I've read in a couple of places that Kaz's price might be in Japan (I know...they don't use dollars), but apparently a G27 sells for about $450 over there which would but the T500 in line with the G27 and fanatec wheels here in the U.S.

Cross your fingers.

So from what I can tell, this wheel will be about $350us without the shifter, $400us with.

I'm hoping they don't waste money on fancy things. I could care less if the exterior is painted with actual automobile paint, I just want it to be durable and have good quality internals. Being able to switch out the wheel for one of your own would also be nice.
