Upgraded my wheel rim with a Derek Speare adapter and 330mm suede wheel rim

Doesn´t it become harder to use the paddle shifters?

Just won the bidding for a Thrustmaster T500 on Ebay. Very happy about that. However I think the guy is trying to con me on delivery. He is sending it merely 50 miles, the box weighs 18kg (found that through a review who said the box should come with a warning due to its 18kg weight). He has claimed it will cost him £55 to deliver it as it weighs 50kg. So can anyone here clarify, does it weight 50kg? And if it does, what on earth is in the box?

Very odd I thought. I had checked costs myself and it was £11.99 for an 18kg box.

Have a look at the overall cost including delivery and see if it is competitive to other sellers. What some sellers do to decrease ebay selling fees etc, they lower the product price and offset it by increasing the delivery fee.

Carson, consider putting your outer monitors over the front? This reduces bezel even more. As not you look straight at width. With sides in front the bezel width is angled. Reducing its visual width. Reducing bezel.

Also looks like we need extended paddles. I see that is working but surely be better with paddles extended to match bigger wheel.

May have to consider that wheel upgrade.

I seen you mention about putting the side monitors in front, and have been meaning to try it. Originally I had planned on removing the the plastic casing/bezel to reduce the visual obstruction. I just never got round to it, and was worried about the process.

The wheel I choose was 330mm as I was worried anything bigger would make reaching the paddles too difficult. I don't have any problem reaching them as is, but if someone came up with custom paddles I'd probably have to have some. It is something I'd been thinking about, Something more authentic looking. A job for someone with access to a CNC machine, that's had previous experience making modified parts for the T500 before :)

Yeah, its just the whole thing seemed iffy, he lied about the weight and stuff. I can't buy things off people "hu spk lyk dis" and lie about little things.

Go with your instincts. Nothing prejudiced about it. It's your hard earned money.

£339.95 on play.com, very good returns policy too. Under warranty they pick up and drop off to your front door for heavy/bulky items. Gave me a brand new G27 cause I complained the plastic top/cap on the gear lever knob was loose.

Is it not possible to completely line up triple screens in GT5 when using projectors or in this case mighty expensive bezel-less monitors? Or is this just not set up properly? Can't believe this guy is using wacky Logitech speakers on this otherwise amazing setup.

It is possible line up the screens together in GT5. Be aware that when you see photos of multiple-screen setup, it's never possible to present the best perspective/view without any inherent distortion. This is especially true when the two outside screen are tilted in.

Any pics of a paddle by itself? I know a guy. LoL

The torsion spring? I had one of these break on the gas pedal.

The newer versions have a compression spring and torsion. I am thinking. After we R&D'd these they figured there was an issue and fixed it in a newer version. LoL

What version no# peddles are you guys running?

blown540ci
Yes

Did you fix yourself or use replacements sent from TM ?

My peddles are V1 , Got them on release pretty much .

V1 here too. They sent me new pedals. I had to video and pics showing the broken one. They wanted me to cut the old chord off and mail it back. Beings I had issues and others. I said no way. Kept the old set for parts. LoL

Is the Wheelstand pro still a good choice?
They sell it for 99 euros (including shipping) now which seems to be a great price?!

I have the WSP deluxe stand for T500 and I am very satisfied. I also paid only 99€ :-)

This.

Great wheel stand and very sturdy. Not used it with the shifter but I would highly recommend it.

Yeah, I put down an order.
Have been in contact with them before and they seem to be very professional when it comes to costumer support :).
Can't wait for it.

Absolutely. I always got a satisfying answers from their CS. Delivery with both of my stands was 2 or 3 days from Poland to the Netherlands. I own a WSP for Thrustmaster RGT and now a second one for the T500. I also use the shifter holder with the TH8 RS. Nothing to complain about at all. :)

I'll take some picture's. Had the casing off a while back out of curiosity. Hopefully it won't be to difficult to remove the paddles

Edit here's a link to the picture's I took

Maybe best to make some extensions that mount to the current paddles. The hinged part is casted and can't be replicated economically. The material would large and require a load of machining. So truly the economical way would be add on extensions.

I'll look into that. Possible something we cut and weld to extend. Then polish back up or have poweder coated. Now did they use a real steal or is it like Integy that makes RC parts.

We had some parts come in that were broken and the guy assumed they was aluminum. The package said Alloy. Well we attempted to weld them. They acted like pot-metal. That stuff melts and won't take material. It's basically crap. So anyway the Integy stuff. The guy who owned these was my cousin and luckly he works for Alcoa. He take the parts in to their lab and has them check them for what type of alloy. He calls me and says. Guess why those won't weld. Proceeds to tell me they are garabage. Literally scrap metals melted and casted. They have no alloy property. They are nothing. Junk. LoL

So hopefully Thrustmaster didn't go there on us. Now to find a spare set of paddles to cut on. Actually I'd grind the back a lil and make a test weld to ensure they did indeed weld properly. If so then simple and cheap to extend.

The problem with WSP is it is limited to a specific wheel. $150+ not well spent. I'd rather have a "multi-tasker" like the Fanatec wheel stand.

Not exactly. I bought a wheelstandpro in November 2010, initially for my Driving Force GT and M$ Wireless wheels. I got an adapter for the M$. When I later bought a Fanatec GT2 wheel, I was able to use it with the wheelstandpro. Two of the holds matched up for hard mounting and I also used the Fanatec clamp. I later got a Fanatec CSR wheel and it also mounts just fine to the wheelstandpro, even though it was bought originally for the Driving Force GT. The problem here, however, is that the T500RS is big and heavy, and I am confident it would not mount well to my wheelstandpro, which is not reinforced enough to support the additional weight. It also lacks a mounting plate that is big enough, IMO. So, I use my Rennsport wheel stand for my T500RS.

So, the wheelstandpro is flexible, just not as flexible at the Rennsport wheel stand.

Then why are they selling so many individual versions of the WSP? Why not just sell an adapter?

Thanks for the heads up, play.com may be the way to go.

Good question, I would think that they can have one base stand with adapters, like the Rennsport.

I have both stands and would recommend the Rennsport over the wheelstandpro, particularly for the T500RS.
