Absolutely amazing. I was expecting good, but not this good. The only thing I dont like about it is the fact that Maynard's voice is so quiet for so much of it that he'll get drowned out by road noise in the car... so it's not going to make for decent driving music :(

I can't stop listening to Vicarious, I'm loving it so much. I really think Danny Carey did an amazing jobs on the drums. The part where the song goes from the soft intro to that sweet riff is my favorite part. It sounds heavier than anything Tool's done before and I dig it a lot 👍

Oh yeah!👍 Start the song at 3:20 and wait for 3:25, thats where the drums get really cool:drool: And then 3:26/3:27 where the drum kicks in, filling the empty silence part of the drums before, and then the pounding voice of maynard.:sly:
And then finally the last minute, it's awsome, especially the drums in the last 25 seconds. Kinda reminds me of FortySix and Two, the end I mean.

And "The Pot" starts like Maroon 5 but then changes into a REALLY cool song.

"LLalalaalalaaaalaaa lie"

Oh and while I was at it, I downloaded some A Perfect Circle, and the song "Rose" is just...

Tool has a huge following in the UK, and an even bigger following in countries like Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, etc...

;)

Oh gosh I hope they come to Holland, just to concider going cause I might not go after all. The thing I like about their music is that it's so creative, different and it's very well composed, just unique. But I'm curious who will show up at such a concert, I dont like the scary style very much you know, just the scary music:nervous:
No one here knows Tool though...I'm suprised if they have such a huge following here.

EDIT: OHHHH I'm SO STUPID!!:dunce: Nvm my double post here guys. I posted my first post, then went back a page and saw DR's comment, and replied again:lol::scared:

I've been listening to the album for a few days, so far only The Pot, Jambi and Vicarious impress me.

The rest is just..

.. boring, not to mention all the silent mystical rubbish they decide to put in.

I haven't caught on to it as quickly as I did with Aenima and Lateralus but I've only been listening to it for a few days, so theres more time for it to grow.

I'll buy it when it comes out though.

Viginti Tres is very very beautifull, but yeah...mystical. And I had to get used to it though but it really really impresses me, it's not just another album wich I feared for.

Well, they released a date here in Canada, and it sold out within an hour, which means I won't be going. Hopefully more dates open up, or i'll be forced to pay scalper prices, which as we all know, makes us cry. :(

Well... On May 2nd (release date for 10,000 Days), Tool is kicking off their world tour in Seattle, at the Paramount, and guess who scored a ticket?... You guessed it... Me...

The venue sold out in under 30 seconds... I tried to score a few tickets, but alas, one is all I could get... Doesn't bother me, though... I will have a good time nonetheless...

After I bought my ticket, I went on Craigslist, and Ebay looking for another... Prices for tickets ranged from $500 to $1000 each...

D'oh :ouch:

So in other words, prices range from an arm, to an arm and a leg.

Indeed... Good news is, they will come back around next year for the arena dates... For those of you who don't know... Tool usually sets small venues initially, then comes back around with the big venue dates... I'm just glad I will be able to go to both this time... I missed the small venue dates last tour... It will be interesting to see such an epic band in such a small venue (roughly 3000 people)...

Could you describe what happens at such a venue? Whats the feel of it when your actually there, cause if it's all normal then it's cool with me, but if Tool likes to give their concerts a scary feel then I wont come. I'm quite intimidated by their music, yet it's beautifull, but I dunno what to expect from actually being there, if you know what I mean.

Also I'm quite frustrated atm, I want to see the lyrics up on the internet, all of them. The lyrics of their songs have always impressed me more than any other part of a song.

Honestly, if the music intimidates you at all, you probably shouldn't be listenning to them at all... I pretty much enjoy everything about their music, concerts, videos, etc.. Therefore, I have always enjoyed Tool concerts... If you don't enjoy the full package, you'll probably be dissapointed, no matter what I say about the experience...

Wowzers! on fye.com you can preorder it for 9.99 after a 3 dollar rebate. im getting it. :D

I'm going to buy it the day of, at my local Sam Goody... I preordered it with $5.00 down, for $14.99... Then I'll roll down to Seattle listenning to it, on my way to the concert...

Actually, I'm on the brink of tears from that. Not for the fact that the Tool tickets were 500-1000, but the fact that David Gilmour's following is infinitely larger and his music so good, yet the scalpers rates were capping around 600 apiece. But of course, his tickets were initially selling for twice the price of the cheapest Tool tickets so the number of willing buyers wasn't as high

I'd buy a scalped ticket for Tool... but it's too damn pricey. I'll try and hunt down a contact for their publicist and pray for a photographer's pass for the show - I wouldn't mind a few concert shots for my portfolio as it is.

I just heard the new single on the radio and I loved it. I'm definatly going to buy their CD when it comes out next week (?). Some of the best "new age" music I've heard in a while. I never really listened to Tool before, although I really like Schism, but I think I'm going to have to get their other CD's too.

That's a tough question... It seems to be pretty much the consensus that the new single "Vicarious" is a fantastic song... You can hear a little bit of Undertow, Aenima, and Lateralus in the new album (you can even hear all 3 in the aforementioned song)... Some parts are heavy and dark, and others are light, and dare I say it, almost A Perfect Circle like... It will be interesting to see the reaction to this new mixture of styles... I love it, but it serves a different purpose than the older Tool stuff... As some of you may know, the name "Tool" while it does have many different meanings (which was purposeful to creating an enigmatic feel for the band, through name and sound), the original idea was the music would be a TOOL for releasing aggression... Whether that be at ones self, government, society, etc... This concept was easy to see in the "Opiate" and "Undertow" albums expecialy... The "Aenima" album seemed to serve as a bridge between the old and new sounds of Tool... While still having very hard and heavy riffs, they were now mixing it up more with long melodic sections, and exploring some less aggressive subjects... This continues on into "Lateralus" which was even more subdued, and dealt with a lot of almost uplifting subjects (although, not all), as they tried to put their own spin on a spiritual book of philosophy (which they succeeded at, admirably, in my opinion)... The new album has a theme of death and love, and the dichotomy of the two... Therefore, you get a mixture of heavy and soft... I hope that helps...

Well I really enjoy their songs, I listen to A Perfect Circle too. I really like the unique voice of Maynard, I really like how well written everything is and although it's dark and heavy, it rocks and it's not dumb mashing on guitars.
Songs like Eulogy and Aenima are really awsome to listen to, especially if you read the lyrics with the songs, they hit me more than any other kind of songs. I just dont like the lifestyle like some have. I wont ever be some gothic and I wont ever take drugs, and that also applies to Tool, if this is really common at Tool concerts and everyone is dressed like gothics or anything else similar to it, and all the heavy stuff then I dont wanna be in it, not that I hate it, I just dont fit in it.

If you don't ever want to see anybody who is dressed funny or has taken/is taking drugs, never go to any concert, ever.

Dont make me look that discriminating lol, I can accept people being funny and dressed weard. It's just a matter of how much? Are they the funny people, or will I actually be funny because I look normal and just like their music?

I once went to a school party with a friend where some guys of another school were playing in bands on a stage, and I though it'd be fun. I got there and there were gothics everywhere, and I dont have a problem with anything like that, but I was wondering what the hell I did there?! I was the only not-gothic there together with my friend. Obviously I dont want to spend money on that.

All I can say is that if you like the music, you should go see the concert if you can, and don't worry about who else is there.

My first concert ever was for a Deep Purple show and I was there to watch Joe Satriani open for them. Considering that the night consisted of Thin Lizzy, JS, and Deep Purple, it's no surprise that I was amongst the youngest people in the arena while everyone else was in their 30's and 40's. I was most likely also one of only a handful of non-white people in a crowd of what I believe was 10,000+. Even then, I never felt more at home at a concert 👍

Compare that to the Foo Fighters, Dream Theater, and Audioslave shows I went to, the crowd was mixed. David Gilmour's show had a few old school hippies, Foo was mostly people my age, and Dream Theater was just a random mix of people. I don't even remember the crowd from Audioslave since the Pit was an all consuming entity of people pushing each other around in tune with the music.

Just go there, forget about the people and enjoy the show.

I didn't really notice that there is a mix of the three albums until you mentioned it. I thought that is was more of a continuation of the sound from Lateralus.

It can especially be noticed on "Jambi" and "Right In Two".
