So awesome to finally hear them live after listening to their music for the past 5 or so years. I just love the way Maynard acts on stage, he comes off as a bit of a prick but the way he sways around is awesome
Also Adam Jones has to be one the most boring stage performers on the face of the earth, I only saw his face change once and that was laughing at Maynard who stuffed up the ending of one of the songs (Jambi?)
Maynard also mentioned he would see us again in Nov/Dec

I'm a big Tool head also, I also own all of there albums and listen to each one all the time.
And for me my favorite songs are Right in Two, Sober, Wings for Marie/10,000 Days, Aenima, and Prison Sex. But I do love all there music.
And 4 Albums? I think you missed counted. 10,000 Days, Lateralus, Aenima, Opiate and Undertow ^_^ and they also have a dvd about the making of Vicarious video. But yeah I count 5 CD's
But yeah, I love MJK to death, he has an amazing way of expressing him self. And he had that awesome mullet/mohawk hair.
As Tool fans anyone like APC? I also heard that APC is supposed to have a new album coming out this year is this true? If so when does it come out?

Well their First CDs is not really a FULL album, sure its an album but its not a full.. Besides I can not find it in stores anymorebut I don't think i wanna get it, Im more of a fan of the later albums then the ones before.
Actually, it came after Opiate, Undertow and Aenima. It was their 4th album, if I'm not mistaken. Furthermore, you're doing yourself a huge disservice by not checking it out. Their cover of Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter" is worth the price of admission alone. Not to mention the live version of "Pu****" that will blow you away. If you like their slower less intricate modern albums, you'll love Salival.

Suit yourself. I have no doubt, one day, your musical taste will mature somewhat, and you will find entertainment with the older, more technical style. No, that wasn't a dig at your taste.... Most people who are just getting into Tool feel the way you do, until eventually they start to branch out as the music they loved on the newer albums starts to feel a tad bit stale, after hearing them a few hundred times (or thousands in my case... lol) Aenima especially, was a breakthrough in music theory, story telling, and structure. It remains their most popular album outselling even Undertow.
Don't get me wrong. I love 10,000 Days, and Lateralus. However, there isn't as much depth to them. They utilize the same enigmatic story telling style, but the older albums seem to be more passionate, raw, and visceral. Have you tried playing 10,000 Days and Wings for Marie on top of each other? (played at the same time). Pretty interesting. The clue was the album cover/inset with the two pictures becoming one through combining them with the attached glasses (as with the songs). If you haven't tried it yet, you should. Also, you can rearrange the songs on Lateralus to get the more cohesive story. If you want to know what people have come up with in regards to the re-order, do a Google search on "Lateralus re-order" or something along those lines.
I still listen to the 2 other albums as well, I love them too, But I still prefer the two newer ones. Al tho I just can't get enough of Third EYE and many other great tracks.. I always get goosebumps when he sings "So good to see you" the second time.. so much emotion put in to it.

Indeed. Good stuff. However, that's just the beginning. You've only just scratched the surface.
Good song. I can never pick a favorite. Although, I will always have a soft spot for Eulogy, as my old band "Peroxide" used to do a cover of it.

I have really enjoyed all of Tool's albums, especially Aenema. I also find 'Vicarious' to be one of the best songs ever written. That said, the worst Tool experience I ever had was seeing them live. It sucked. The opening act was Tricky, and during the Tool set, Tricky came out and did vocals on a song that turned into a long, drawn-out (and I mean long and draaaaaaaawwwwwnn-out jam session). Bleh!

Damn thats weird. I heard just the opposite from everyone I have talked to. Everyone always says that Tool is amazing live. Well I guess it comes down to personal preference. Personally I'm such a Tool fanboy I would end up loving it no matter what. And BTW I'm an OTH (Original Tool Head ) Been listening to them before Lateralus and 10k days.

I never saw Tool live, but I did see A Perfect Circle open for NIN, and they were far from great. Maynard was half-incomprehensible, and sang into the drum riser with his back to the audience the whole time.

Disposition, Reflection, and Triad supposable should be one HUGE song. If you count them it equals to 23 minutes.
My favorite track Reflection is kinda hunting me.. I don't know why. Even today Once I got to school late, I looked at my time and it was 11:10 and then quickly switched to 11:11 am, at the same time Reflections was playing, and at the same time as clock has dialed to 11:11 the lyrics came out..

I can see it's some kind of message to me.. call me crazy
But this is not the first time It happen to me.
Reflections is #11 on the Album, as well its 11 minutes long, thus making it 11:11. 11:11 has always hunted me as a time, its really weird, I think its one of the most important some say though that time your body and mid becomes one, we are more open minded and self aware of our place in the world. Some say good spirits visit you.. some say, just like the Mayan calendar states, that at 2012 12/21 at 11:11 the world will end.

To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical,

I use to have a huge depression in life, almost suicided because of it, and this song is a really good example not to be in one.

I have seen Tool live 8 times now. Their last tour (10,000 Days) I saw at The Gorge in Washington State. A Fantastic venue. The quality of the audio was better than your average concert (something to do with Adam Jones no doubt), and the song list was incredible. A new never before played long version of "Opiate", the long version of "Push It", and "Third Eye". All songs I was not expecting. However, it was short. They played for an hour and a half, went to leave. Everyone chanted, took out their lighters, etc... Thus, they came back out and played 4 more songs. Great show, but could have been a bit longer.
I love that part of the song. It's quiet and somber... Then it pauses before blowing up into a beautiful, almost "Aenima" like guitar/drum jam. It's like a reminder, they can still rock out..... if they feel like it.

I think "Right in Two" is my favorite off of that album. I like songs that use the contrast between the slow/fast parts well.

so i tried that mixing thing, sounds reasonable i guess, some bits dont gel too well think il stick to listening to them separately like normal lol

It has to be done correctly. If you do it right, your reaction is guarantied to be different. It's not as easy to sync up as people make it out to be.

lining up some parts messes later parts, and some bits dont sound nice together irrespective of syncing, i wouldnt mind hearing a "correct" one then

Need I say more? The lyrics this band comes up with are simply phenomenal, not to mention the pitch and range Maynard is able to vocalize in harmony with the song. I loves it.

The members of Tool have said numerous times, they are perpetually working on a new album at all times. They don't write music like many bands do. They don't rent out a big house somewhere, lock themselves in and work on their album. They slowly come up with ideas throughout their individual lives, come together whenever it's convenient, and record something if they feel like it. Eventually (i.e. in 4 or more years) when enough ideas have come together, they will go to the studio and start working on the masters. Very relaxed and casual method of album creation. They will most certainly come out with another album, but if you think you're going to see it within the next few years, you're dreamin'. We still have at the very least 3 or more years left to go before we can even hope to see another Tool album. 5 years elapsed between "Aenima" and "Lateralus", and then another five years before "10,000 Days". This seems to be the cycle they follow. Whether there is meaning in this 5 year system, I don't know. Like many things surrounding the band, this is also a mystery.
