Suggestions? Sounds great, I nominate the beetle rsi as a tuner throw down car, or 24v clio, that one can be tricky to tune as well as push to its full potential as a driver. Both are also cheap, competetive vehicles and very useable.

It is too soon. Most of the garages don't have much tunes out, nor do they have proper experience of how the physics engine will treat certain tunes on tracks they weren't meant for. Having a tuner garage competition already would give a false image of some garages true talents.

This is true.

And furthermore, a few have not launched yet.

Thanks! Wasn't trying to call garages out, just seemed the thread kinda fizzled with what could have been a very fun idea. This makes sense though. Maybe I can try and get some tunes going for when it does start! Also I wonder if an amateur tune championship of this fashion could be done, as I am sure I would not hold a lick against the garages

When would you guys feel comfortable submitting some of your tunes for competition?

I believe there might be enough user demand to pull this off, but only if your garage and others feel comfortable.

You wouldn't have any interest from myself at the moment. Too many of the people who are "tuning" in this section aren't recognised names in the GT tuning scene yet. None of the established tuning group from GT4 would be willing to volunteer just yet as Greycap & RJ have already said. We're all just getting used to things with all the various cars that are available in the game. Some of us have blasted off to a headstart (like RJ & Roj, or Paulie & Dragonistic), others are easing into it (like Leo & Greycap), and my style is to sit back a bit then go BAM!! with a huge stockpile of tunes to release on you guys all at once. ;)

Also, too many people are just popping on here and putting an entire thread for a single car......are you guys serious?? :odd: There should be a thread just for single car tunes and you all should be adding to it!! That thread would have well over 100 seperate tunes already from the amount of people doing new threads on here to showcase their car. So yes, it might be that you've just built an awesome car and you want to tell the world, but can we all group it together, because it's like swimming through a swamp trying to find the threads I want to go into with all these single car tune threads out there. :yuck:

Ya this is genious.

This should really be given serious thought.

Stockpiling all the tuning work done with the option to comment or vote on would really do wonders for people. It would make the forums more organized and easier on the moderaters...nudge nudge

This sounds extremely promising. Not only does it make tuners "push the envelopes" as far as tunes go but it also would foster a tighter knit community within the tuning garages.

However, I do demand brackets because tuning is my favorite part of this game and I would love to be apart of something like this but I am not "up to snuff" compared to the established people in this scene.

Well, I believe that we could up our ante to two to three pairs per week, but you have to remember that some of us have jobs to attend to. I'm sure that there is no lack of demand for this kind of event, however, we old beards of GT tuning would like to get better picture of the way things work in GT5. I think that after new years eve there would be greater chance for such event.

Well actually, I was thinking about making this a monthly thing. My vision of this is having a "January GTplanet Tuner Garage Battle" sticky thread each month with the car decided pre-January, the tunes submitted by the 15th of that month, with two weeks for the gtplanet population to submit their laps. The very end of the month would be tabulating the results, and agreeing upon the next car.

I think a monthly tuner garage battle sounds like a great idea. I'll defedently participate as a driver.

Can a 1 man garage post a tune? :D

Yes, otherwise I wouldn't be allowed. ;) I've been a solo act the whole time I've had GME running.

I am looking at possible expansion in the future though since a lot of others are doing so, but I already know who I have in mind for those roles if it comes to that so don't ask to become part of it because I've already decided who I would have in my ranks that aren't already aligned with a garage.

I'm interested. I've been in a few tuner garage battles in GT4 so I'm looking forward to this. :D

Too true. Since it's the first GT5 tuner garage battle, there will be no end to the amount of interest in it. Especially us old GT4 tuners who want to continue our rivalries in GT5. :p

Also +1 for a 2011 start. It slots nicely after my holiday too. :p
Can a 1 man garage post a tune? :D

The first time I entered a tuner battle, I was still new to GTP and I didn't even have a garage. I just submitted a tune and it did pretty well. Then later on I got recruited by RJ to join what was then known as RCV. But the point is, nothing is stopping you from entering a tune as a privateer. 👍

I remember those days, you were just a little fish that went into the big pond and swallowed up some certified tuners at that time. 👍 The rivalry for us began not long after Mr.Catface. :p

+1 to the bold, underlined bit. We were all new guys to the scene once, and although it may seem daunting, the fact that you find out that your cars, that you spent many hours in a lounge room tuning and building up, are up there with the best that GTP has to offer is more than satisfying in itself. 👍 All of us have had that joy of success of being one of the Top 3 at some point or another. :)

Okay, I'll update the first post with the garage and test driver list. Please reply or PM me if you're interested, and in what capacity (garage - with name, or gtplanet test driver).

Hell yeah! I think having a few one-man gambits thrown in there will make things VERY VERY interesting in terms of competition.

However, I think it best that the list of garages/tuners posting setups be active from month-to-month. In other words, don't put your name in the hat if you only plan on submitting once. The more variances we have in the number of garages/tuners participating month-to-month, the less valid the results are. Same goes for the drivers, but less so because I'm hoping the large number of laps submitted will normalize themselves statistically.

When do you plan on hosting the first tuner battle (month-wise)? I'm flying out on February to complete my second year... Anyway, Please list me in the battle.

Vett'e - Avid Racing Factory

(i'm riding solo at the moment, haven't even started my own thread or recruited yet but will be soon)

Thanks!

I would be down to attend some races when I am availiable; hectic work schedule + wife aggro = less play time, but the time I do spend in game is spent farming cp for new tunes and in practice to dial it all in. I am looking to see where I stand plus to vibe off the established tuners here to improve myself, driving and tuning wise.

I will be opening up "The Chop Shop" because of my forum namesake but I am waiting until I hit my goal on tunes that are more or less complete.

Love the tuning community here guys, so helpful and dedicated.
