1989 Pontiac Trans-Am 20th Anniversary Turbo

  • Arguably the most iconic Firebird design
  • Buick GNX Power
  • Was the fastest Trans-Am built until the '02 35th (and final) Anniversary "Screamin' Chicken" models

Probably one of the most-forgotten models as well. Well, besides the Grand Prix Turbo.

I'd say the McLaren Grand Prix is the rarer one, since as in the picture the Trans-Am was at least used as a pace car.

The ultimate Pontiac?? MINE! :) 2000 Grand Prix GTP mods in sig. Here's a clip of the little V6 idling! :scared:

It will run 11's before I'm done with it. "Should" run mid-high 12's as it sits on street tires. Some more pics of it:

My dad also has a 1968 GTO that we put a 461 stroker in:

Also, I think the latest generation T/A's are probly the meanest/coolest looking cars ever made! And they have the bite to match the bark.

+1

BUT, it is hard for me to forget these...

The GTO is still on my short-list for replacing the Celica, should I ever find the money to do it. Having neighbors who use them as daily drivers, yeah, it kinda rubs it in the wounds a bit. Although, it has to be purple. And that seems to be impossible to find.

My grandfather drove a 70' GTO "The Judge" on his mail route back in the day. On gravel roads. :guilty: Fortunately it was only for about a year and a half. Unfortunately he sold or traded the car off.

Chalk my vote up for the 65-67 GTO's.

I like the power of the latest generation of GTO. But it's styling would have to go some to be blander.
I guess that would make it a good "stealth" machine. But in that color it's all but invisible, which would be good with 400HP on tap.

That '65 with the Kragar SS wheels is making my heart race!!!

Crazy flare hungry Americans, in Australia I'd say the Monaro qualifies as bad-ass.:sly:

From what I can tell, the last models of Fiero would have been really good. Apart from the reliability (which from what I can tell is why people do engine swaps so commonly in them), are they good cars? Must be a tuner's dream. I want it in GT5 for an alternative to the MR2.:)

why would you want slower, softer GT car? :odd:

Really hard to pick just one, but I'd have to agree with the '69 GTO Judge.

Or this car:

1973 Trans Am SD 455

why would you want slower, softer GT car? :odd:

Because only a try-hard wannabe feels the need to take the best car available. True automotive enthusiasts will go with the car they like more (which for me in this case happens to be the Fiero. There'd be nothing wrong with somebody else who genuinely likes the MR2 more taking it). They're similar cars, and could be tuned to similar levels I'd imagine anyway.

Edit: Yep, just been watching some videos of a guy with a Fiero GT with an L67 supercharged and intercooled V6 in it. One video shows him beating a Mustang GT and making a 12sec pass. The car looks schmick too, I want.

True automotive enthusiasts are more likely when faced with two similar cars (on paper) to choose the car which is clearly the better of the two. IMO.

Then they have no passion towards cars, in which case I'm not interested in their opinion..........

It's easy to have no passion towards a Fiero.

I never said anyone should (Leo asked me why I'd choose the slower from the factory car, and I answered), but I could easily fall for a Fiero. Especially with a Buick 3800 V6 installed under the hood.👍 For that matter though it's easy to have no passion towards an MR2 either, or a Corvette, a GTR, 911, Enzo, you name it.......

The Fiero was slow, had poor handling and was unreliable by all accounts. The cars you mention are all fine cars, which make them easy to be passionate about.

Now I know relatively little about American cars, but apparently GM have gone ahead and produced about 3 times more than they think they'll need, so it must be good!

The Pontiac G3 - Buy one. Please?

The Pontiac Domo?
*snip*

!

You just have to upgrade it. It's not hard to make the Fiero better, especially since you can actually fit a V8 in the engine compartment (I've seen it done) not to mention you can upgrade the suspension.

My first car was one exactly like this, might not look like much, but there's just enough room in the back for a mattress and two people :sly:

honestly, I can understand why some people find the fiero cool in a quirky kind of way, but my neighbor has one and he has quite a love-to-hate relationship with it. IMO there is simply no reason to buy one.

Haha the Trans Sport, I always loved the styling of those vans. It would be awesome to take a Beretta GTZ engine and drivetrain, and stick it in.
