Well, I didn't notice anything, easy seeing as there isn't too many threads! With Fanatec being the lead wheel manufacturer for Xbox 360, I think it would be great to have a thread where we can ask questions, answer questions, and just discuss current and upcoming Fanatec products. This doesn't limit to the Xbox 360, feel free to branch out to PC and PS3 wheels in the Fanatec lineup also!

I can also help answer a lot of questions about the GT3 RS, as that's my weapon! :mischievous:

Does this wheel work on the ps3?? :mischievous:

Thomas, for the CSR Elite rim's... wingnuts instead of screws for fast swapping....

Formula rim-my thoughts are keep the rev indicator and tie it into % of throttle when used on consoles like the ABS rumble on CSP. Also make it a 360/PC rim so you can have extra switches and dials that would work only on PC via USB connection to get around the electronic limitation in the base. There are two buttons that go unused by the 360 on all the Porsche and CSR wheels so we know it's possible!

GT rim- The same BMW rim the CSW is getting please and thank you!

LED display - please add a setting in a firmware update to display what gear is selected. I know it can't do it from game telemetry on a console like rFactor does, but can't it simply display the gear the 6+1 shifter or 7+1 CSS is in?

Clubsport Shifter- Any chance of a clutch trigger on the shifter? I know it'll have a threaded shaft, but an option for a shifter knob with clutch trigger would be so awesome!

Does the CSR Elite use the cool blue LED of the CSR?

Looking forward to pre-ordering mine when it becomes available to upgrade my PWTS...Thanks!

Have any other new CSR wheel owners noticed a high pitched whine from the wheel's fan? There is suppose to be a way to set to ON or OFF with ON meaning full on all the time or OFF meaning it will run depending on need (temperature). It is a little annoying when things are quiet but not loud enough to notice much during action. Toggling the fan settings OFF does seem to quiet it down but only until I start my Xbox then it seems to run full on again.

Mine has a high pitched whine from the fan too. I play with a Headset so I don't notice it until I take them off. I read how to turn it off but it doesn't bother me enough, and it will most likely turn right back on as soon as you start to use it.

I am having a couple of other issues though.

I still can't save any of my settings to any of the presets.
I keep knocking the plug out of the shifter with my leg. Seems like they could have picked a better spot for that plug.
My brake pedal stops working every now and then. Last night, it didn't work from the beginning. I turned off the wheel, checked the wire, turned the wheel back on, and the brake worked....but then the clutch stopped working. So I went through the process again and everything worked fine the rest of the night.

I still love this setup, but it has some bugs.

This site must be full of gamepad players......

Apparently, but there are around 35 people in the club that show they race with a wheel. Really wish they made more of a presence in here.

On Topic:

Crispy - When I turn on my wheel should it calibrate by turning to right lock then back to left lock? Mine goes to right lock then goes about just past center to the left and that's it. Is there a standard way it should calibrate?

Thanks

It also has to do with the wheel position when you first turn it on. If you're at right lock it'll spin left of course.

Eh, nevermind, I just read in the manual it goes to right lock and back to near center. Another good reason to read the manual.

I could save presets for the first 2 days of use, but now I can't. I tried resetting the wheel, but that didn't do anything either; it only keeps the last set of presets I made before it had a problem. I emailed Fanatec and they said that someone in Germany also reported the problem and they are looking into it.

That's how my Turbo S calibrates. I think it's the same with all Fanatec wheels.

It is. It should snap back to center afterwards too. Can't wait for the CSR Elite, been saving up!

...

Just got an email from Fanatec support in response to my inquiry on the CSR fan noise. They are aware of the fan noise issue and are working on a fix for a future firmware update. Not a huge deal but would be nice if the fan was quieter.

FYI the whining noise isn't the fan, it is the wireless connection to the 360.
You are not alone, either ;)

The only thing I'm worried about with the CSR Elite is that knowing MS it won't be compatible with the next box. MS should be showing their new console at E3 2012 with a Nov 2012 release date. For $500 I sure hope it will be compatible with the next box. When I bought my first Fanatec, the Speedster 3 Forceshock for FM1, it wasn't compatible with the 360 when it came out. After a long wait MS released the wireless FFB wheel and it was utter garbage and far below the Fanatec Speedster 3 causing the 360 to go backwards in time until the PWTS came out.

Lets not repeat this cycle!

Yeah, if that happens the odds are not good that my wife will let me throw down $$$ on a new Xbox and another $500 on a new wheel.

Hi guys! Still loving my GT2, and haven't regretted for a second choosing it over the CSR. I'm using my old inverted G25 pedals with it, and they seem to do the job quite well. Only real problem is that from time to time, not so often, the wheel "crashes": it gives full lock, full gas and nothing responds. Rebooting the wheel sorts this. zr1chris seemed to suffer from this too in the last race and he's using PWTS with Fanatec pedals if I understood correctly. I guess this is "normal". Was just thinking if it's the G25 pedals causing this... Other than that, I really like the wheel. Prefer it over my old G25 which is actually a very good wheel too.

BTW, are you guys wearing gloves while driving? I think the alcantara would prefer that over sweaty palms... :D Well you can always clean it..

A bit late to the party here, but I'm a Fanatec wheel racer. I have a CSR & CSR Elite pedals. I absolutely love it and have no problems other than the occasional '0 credit' bug. My wheel also makes a high pitch whine, but it doesn't trouble me much as I wear a headset -I'll update the firmware when Fanatec official release a Win7 version.

Top tip for anyone who wants a wheel but doesn't have the space for a rig: I use a bean bag as my chair and I have a Rennsport wheelstand. This allows me to set up in my lounge in probably less than a minute and the bean bag really simulates a bucket seat well.

Overlooked this thread, anyway a few things I have done or noticed with my CSR wheel-

- I used Co-ban (black in color) to wrap my wheel top area (shiny black). It sticks to itself and feels like a soft rubber. So far with a few hours racing it has held up and the nice thing about it is it won't leave a residue from the glue, like other alternatives I saw. Also it is cheap and easy to apply, very flexible.

- One thing that may be a wheel by wheel basis, is when my car is either in a drift or off-road, I would hear a rattling sound coming from my wheel (not base) with some experimenting I came to the conclusion that it is related to the ''Shock'' setting. When this is turned to Off (0) or 10, it goes away.

Otherwise this wheel is so much fun to use and even though I am struggling using the clutch on the Elite pedals, I am practicing the ''heel-toe'' technique, which is easier said than done. But at least I can slide the pedals closer to each other to adjust for easier attempts.

That is a FM problem , it happened in FM3 too. Doesn't happen in any other game. It's not the G25 pedals. I've raced with MS pedals, G25 pedals and Clubsport pedals.

Like Lickity said it's a glitch within Forza. I get it once in a while, usually after making some sort of contact with something or someone.

I have been using gloves with my wheel mainly to keep my wheel from getting all nasty from my sweaty hands. After 2 months my wheel still looks brand new.

Ok, thanks guys, it's good to know. I haven't paid that much attention to what I'm doing when it happens, but I think it's mostly drifting related in my case. Maybe my clutchslipping-standing-on-all-pedals drifting technique doesn't go down so well with the Fanatec... :D

Just sitting here waiting for my ClubSport pedals and Rennsport V2 wheel stand. Agonising wait! :( GT2 still sitting in its box waiting for its friends.

Its agonising almost isn't it. Especially as mine says "out for delivery" and its coming from the UPS place just 2 miles from my house.

I'm not even sure if mines left China yet.... We were told before Christmas so I hope I get it in a couple weeks.

I'm still undecided guys... I'm like 99% deadset on the CSR wheel but can't decide between the CSR Elite pedals or the CSP... I want to pull the trigger this week as an early xmas present to myself :P

lol
That reminds me of my buddy who's show car has an alcantara wrapped steering wheel and he only drives it with gloves. It works though!

I think you'll be happy whatever pedals you go for. I have the CSR-E's and a few days after I ordered them Fanatec started doing the free tuning kit with the CSP's. At first I was disappointed as this seemed like a better deal, but having had the CSP's for a month or so, I'm absolutely delighted with them. IMO the pedals are even better than the (superb) CSR wheel. They just reek of engineering excellence. So don't stress, either way I'm sure you'll end up with a great set of pedals! :)
