Well did what Fanatec said and calibrated in PS3 mode but still no 5th gear. Gonna see what they respond next....

Thomas from Fanatec recommends normal steering as simulated has hidden assists for controller users.

Didn't T10 patch that issue?

No, the patch was for a problem on mapping Fanatec wheels, it's not exactly a problem just a misleading term.
This is something I'm curious to know more about, because I've always heard whispers of hidden assists. But no really solid info.

Guys, I'm seriously thinking about getting a Fanatec. But can someone tell me if it's worth getting CSR Elite Pedals, which are at $150?

Yeah, after some price comparing, I decided that I'm going to go for the elite pedals. I think that being a bit more patient to save that extra money for them will really pay off in the end. :)

Hate to double post but I have an important question. Last night, I went ahead and finally ordered the CSR Wheel Value Pack XL. I proceeded to the step where you pay with PayPal. (I payed as a guest.)

The payment went through and I got the receipt sent to my e-mail address. However, after that, my browser froze and crashed and I had no choice but to close it. I may just be paranoid, but was I supposed to be redirected to the Fanatec website right after paying for the order to be complete? It still says "pending" on my account.

EDIT: Everything was okay all along. Just received an e-mail saying that the US warehouse will be informed today to ship my order. Can't wait! :D

Glad to hear.....Ive never had a wheel before I bought mine a couple months ago and I love it....

Yeah, man. This will be my first wheel with a clutch and H-shifter so I'm really excited. 👍

I recently got my tracking numbers from UPS. The wheel set comes on the 8th and my RennSport wheel stand comes on the 9th. Only downside is, I pretty much work all day on those days, so no quality time with a proper set up until Wednesday night. Those two days are going to be torture. :grumpy:

Not to wish anything bad on you but I NEVER got my H-shifer to work right. It never calibrated correctly. Fanatec sent me a new one with a new cable but still couldn't get it to work. So something must be wrong with the wheel. But my seqential shifter and paddle shifters work great so I decided not to send it back just for that...

Check out the Fanatec wheel setting thread here, very helpful on getting started for the first time. Im so sucked into the game since I bought the wheel I have been looking at chair/sim rigs to buy. I did purchase the Rennsport wheel stand and it works great but I will probably be selling it in a few months once I figure how to make a rig that I can fit in my closte

While I don't know if this is katpeeler's problem, you cannot calibrate the h-shifter in XBOX mode. You have to do it in PC or PS3 mode.

My problem with the h-shifter is keeping the damn thing on the rods. :(

^^^^I have tried calibrating in PC and PS3 mode. I have pluged up wheel to my laptop to calibrate and the gears are ALL over the place.....very strange....

Really sorry to hear about that. That sucks. :(

The only time I plan on using the sequential and paddles is if the car I'm driving has it IRL. Otherwise, the H-shifter is a must for me, but I'm not really worried. And thanks for the heads up. I hope you get your problem sorted out one day too.

And I'll be sure to check out the settings thread too once I get familiar with my wheel. 👍

This is one thing that really concerns me. I want to get Shifter Set Adapter, but they are only available for pre-order at the current time on the Fanatec site and won't be available until the end of May. I find this pretty frustrating too because it's such a small item that I would imagine could be produced quickly. Plus, I don't feel like dealing with a loose shifter for almost a whole month.

Fortunately, I have found on GTP what seems to be a cheap and great alternative. I will be doing this ASAP:

The piece on the far right in the picture is the shifter adapter set which you can purchase on the Fanatec webshop.

Until you get the shifter adapter set, there is a way to make the shifter a lot more stable using the chopsticks. *You need some short screws with nuts that will fit between the chopsticks. Just put the screws in and tighten them up to apply extra tension on the chopsticks. I did this on mine and it worked great, the shifter was solid as a rock. Here are pictures:

I think we already had this conversation but when I calibrate my shifter I never plug anything from the wheel to either ps3 or PC. Have you tried the calibration by just putting the wheel in ps3/pc mode but not connecting the USB? Just a double check.

Yeah I did.....the only thing that might be the issue is a bad P2P cord....I kinda gave up on it since I realy didnt plan on using it but it would have been nice

Thanks for posting that MuoNiuLa, and to Troysloth for the work-around; I'm going to go look through my nuts and bolts right now.

Holy crap. I checked my tracking numbers again. I'm supposed to get everything (wheel and stand) today, instead of waiting one more day to get the stand, as it was originally planned. UPS, you rock! :D

Just wanted to pop in and say my CSR wheel works just fine with the 737 firmware. After installing the 737 firmware, I found that to get the wheel to work on my PS3, you must press the ))) and < button together for 3 seconds or so, then do it Again for a second time and the blue dot will appear on the wheel and the button maps work properly.

Not sure if anyone wants it, but you can now download the CSR firmware v737 from:

Got my wheel and stand yesterday and set it up immediately after I got home from work. It's a blast, and not only has it increased my enjoyment tenfold for Forza 4, I think I'm starting to find GT5 fun again too. One of the best purchases I made. 👍

But I want to say some things about the shifter. I read some pretty negative comments about it regarding how much noise it makes and its quality. While it does make a clicking sound, it does not bother me in the slightest. I don't know why. I've seen people go as far as open the shifters up and mod them to make them more silent. I was concerned about the noise prior to getting the wheel but I'm glad I don't have to go to those extremes now.

I also read the 6-speed shifter feels cheap when using it but after trying it myself, I'm actually happy with it. Especially since the aluminum knob gives it a nice weight and feel. Then again, this is my first wheel that has a clutch and shifter, so maybe that's why I'm content with it.

Finally, the chopsticks that came with the shifter are more stable than I thought. Even when racing, I have no problems with it. I found it to be quite a sturdy foundation. I'm starting to have second thoughts about getting the shifter set adapter or doing the mod I posted above, but we'll see.

I'm also still keeping a close eye out for the CS shifter that Fanatec is developing.

Ever since updating my CSR to 737 i've been having some issues... Now whenever I click the paddles it acts as the "a" button would not the bumpers. I've reset the controls, but no dice. On GT5 when I click a paddle it sounds the horn and shifts. Anyone else having this issue?

Figured it out. :)
