they defiantley dont hurt. theres nothing wrong with those engine covers, they dont cover the intake manifold and trap heat in like the stock turtle shell lol plus they look great in the process

Well my point was I don't think those engine covers (link you provided) look very good, especially in high gloss, makes them look cheap. Still better than the Turtle shell though.

each to there own i guess
ill get a set of those covers in the future, at the moment mines shelless

its pretty rare for someone to like the look of an exposed engine 👍

I will get a complete standard 308 for just over a grand, which is all I want. I don't want to have bucket loads of power. There are a number of reasons for this, with the main one being that I don't want to kill myself or twist the chassis into something resembling a licorice twist. The other reason is the fact that I will most likely be using the standard exhaust manifolds, which won't equate very well with a shirt load of power.

Come on - I know You know you want to do just that :mischievous:

thats not bad :) my brother put just over 5 grand into his
id like to know how much power this car could handle lol, go with extractors and zorst if you want slightly better economy and power
all i want now is more power. went from std car with cat back to car with pipes, induction and cats to car with mafless edit. the car is an animal but im use to the power now and am hungry for more!!! cam and heads

std manifolds = quiet, which is good, because I don't want police attention.

damn, std exhaust manifolds = gay

I'm gonna warn you: You are awful close to flaming, there. If not actually flaming. Take your criticism down a notch. He's given a good reason for using stock manifolds, as far as I'm concerned.

to Guska: Of course, if you ever find the old (Gen-1 Chrysler Hemi-based) engine out of a Toyota Crown (i think it was)....that would be neat.

Jim, I hadn't thought of that, it may be a better way of going, as the crown is a physically smaller car (than the Holden donors I am considering), made by the same manufacturer, so theoretically it *should* make the job a little simpler. Also, for the record, I agree with throttlehappy about the manifolds.

No, wait, It's the CENTURY!!!! My bad.

The problem that I could possibly forsee with the Century Hemi V8, would be the size of the Hemi heads and that fact that it might not fit between the fenderwells because of that. I know that Mopar's Hemis were (are) extremely wide, thanks to the size of the heads themselves, but the Century's mill is supposedly scaled-down from the first-gen Mopar.

and then one wonders about how Toyota's 5.7L Nextel Cup mill would fit...

The engine is known as the "V-series," the 4V or 5V would be the best choice (Early, carbeureted 5V, that is,) though I don't know what sort of aftermarket exists for either engine.

Yeah, I didn't think that the crown was right, but I blamed it on literally being awake for 30sec when I replied. (beep beep beep, shut up, opera mini, gtp, get up, dress, eat, go)

Come on fellas, quit your bickering, we're all supposed to pretend to get along when matters of automotive improvement are at stake...
