TRACK DAY LOTUS SPECIAL

Ok gentlemen (and Holden),

I have been talking to some contacts at Lotus and Suzuka, and have wangled us something a bit special.

It turns out that the Suzuka Race Driving School will shortly take delivery of a new fleet of Lotus Elises, and the Lotus marketing dept are making a big splash of it as part of their push into Japan.

We have been invited to take part in one of thier press launch days where we will be allowed plenty of laps in their specially specced up school cars on the FULL Suzuka Grand Prix Circuit.

This will take place just after our weekend at the Nurburgring, and give everyone the opportunity to see what they can do in like for like equipment.

They have some pretty good equipment on them, and quite a lot of scope for chassis tuning, so there should be a lot of fun for everyone. The specs are as follows:

Lotus Elise 111R

270bhp@7800rpm
186lb.ft@6800rpm
860kg

Stage 2 NA tune
Semi-racing exhaust
Engine balancing
Port Polish
Racing chip

Roll cage (only on some cars so optional)
Semi-racing suspension
Brake balance controller
Variable Limited Slip Diff

Standard gearbox
Twin plate clutch
Racing Flywheel

S1 (Sports/Hard) Tyres

Oil change and Chassis refresh as required.

I know that many of you have been itching to find out how you compare, so this should give you the opportunity. I will be doing some research in the Driver's Book of Excuses, as Suzuka is one of my worst tracks in the game :grumpy: Why did I choose it? Go figure...:dunce:

Ohhh now this looks like its going to be fun (mind my only recent experience of Suzuka is in TT and the track is slightly different).

Big thumbs up

Scaff

Ok gentlemen (and Holden),
Poor Scaff...

This should be interesting, to say the least. Now we will se just how bad a driver I really am!

 Good stuff guys...👍

I captured the laps for the GT on Tsukuba and Infineon, but I had to leave afterward. After eating some unmentionables I spent all day and almost all night at a fair. Upload failed on Tsukuba run. It is 4 AM so I don't plan on trying again. I'll give it another shot tomorrow.

edit: but the one for infineon just finished...The quality kinda sucks.
GT Infineon Run

Quick question: Any of you guys running the North American version of the game? If enough of you are, I might go out and pick up a max drive.

Just to let you guys know, I will be out of action until Tuesday or Wednesday, as I am visiting my Mum, and didn't bring my PS2 with me.

How will I survive??? *starts rocking back and forth "Find a happy place"*

Here's my time for the Toyota 2000GT,, Got bothered by a flying BMW though:( with 21 spinners,,

Infneon mod: Weight reduction stage 1
Time: 1'49.760

Didn't we all? I think they call it a Highland fling...

Got down to a 1'36.801" and I KNOW there's more in there, it's just getting it out... so to speak...:dunce:

Edit: 1'36.546"
Edit: 1'36.234" :grumpy:

I hate being beaten by a saloon... I swear I can get that damn car round quicker... I can see the time I lost... Oh well.

Bingbong.
Willkommen am Nuerburgring Nordschleife. Bitte, Vergessen nicht, dem Barriern sind sehr schoen und wir ihren visa haben. Danke Schoen. Bingbong.

i get first call on the biggest garage!!! as i have a couple of bikes with me and some cars that i might use for the next trackday series and dont want you lot spying :p

Well, the Peugeot's a bit of a nightmare: basically unstable at high speed, doesn't like the curbs, spins at the slightest provocation. Trouble is, if you lessen the settings, you get the understeer back in full force...:indiff:

It's not easy keeping out of the way of the ADAC 24hr runners either...:scared: I'm a little surprised they let us out on the circuit today. :dopey:

Peugeot 205 T16: Nurb mod: lightening, stage 2 (next available)

7'42.631"

Had a brief run in the other 2: the Caterham is also a pain, and needs softer bound damping, but they're already on 2 :indiff: semi-racing suspension is being fitted as we speak. May need to run with ballast here, the cars so jittery at speed. Got into 4th gear for the first time in the series today:sly: and 5th :scared: .

The Ruf is fine of course. It's German after all.:)

I have edited my time post, full specs there!
Cheers!

Hi to everyone,

Just a quick note to say that my wedding went great yesterday, we are now leaving a day earlier for honeymoon and as a result we have loads to do, unfortunatly I am not going to be able to run the Nurburgring at all. Im gutted as its my favourite course aswell.

But nevermind as sometimes gtp/gt4 has to take a backseat and the ds2 needs a well deserved break.

Good luck with the final week!

speak to you soon

regards

David

Glad the wedding went well, Dave, and congratulations!

Gave the Caterham semi-racing suspension and 50kg ballast and that calmed it down a lot! Dampers are on setting 1 and the springs are at their lowest rate to try and stop it jumping into the (expensive) armco at the merest sight of a bump

Managed a 7'56.745" in this set-up, but I think 7'50-7'52 is possible so I'll push for that. I probably won't take the Peugeot out again here, unless I want to try some settings or something.

First indications are that I should manage about a 7'15-7'20 in the Ruf, although I think the car could break 7'00 in the right hands. Haven't decided on a mod yet, though lightening is favourite.

I'll get the times for Infineon up shortly.
