Wow! Thanks again Dave (and Scaff too, come to that :D)! I've just shaved a second from my Peugeot time: it's now 1'35.626!

I was able to dial out a fair bit of the understeer, thanks to your succinct comments. It's funny, I know all the principles, but it's not often I see the effects so clearly in practice!

Great stuff:tup:

Had a look at Holdens S4 tonight (Hope you dont mind), will update tomorrow as I have been up since 5.30am...

Good to see the Proton, Boomboy, but I think it's technically not allowed, you really need something from the Millionaire's Division: - it's under C100,000 (in PAL at least) so comes under the modern Division, the same as your Focus (astonishing time for that at Suzuka, BTW 👍 ), and you should choose 3 cars from different Divisions.

Is it over C100,000 in your version? If so it stands. If not... I think we'll need a Steward's decision on whether or not we can promote you to the Millionaire's Division. I'm game, as I'd like a bit of competition :D, but others may feel "rules are rules".

My bad i forgot about that :dunce: . Its C80,000 in my version. If its not promoted to the millionares division i will change it for another car after school.

All hail the mighty scaff

Ha ha not quite, not while there are BMW's in the world:tup:

Well, I had an hour with the S4 last night to see how it went, not too bad but it was obvious from the first lap that some tuning would help.

The Audi intially felt a bit vague, turn in was ok as Holden previously mentioned but the car quickly washed into understeer and needed adjustment mid corner and again on exit. Seems like it would be good (read safe) on the road but for the track it was quickly overcoming its own limits.

Starting with damping and ride height I dropped the front values slightly and drove another lap, whilst better the rear was still vague so I set the ride heights at 133/138 (Front and Rear), damping I upped the rear value and ended up with 5/8.

Next was camber, starting with 0.5/0.5 I worked upwards until I got to 1.5/0.7

With these settings the car works quite nicely compared to standard. Turn in and now the cars back end slips just a bit giving you a very neutral stance mid corner (Got a photo but am writing this from work), corner exit is again understeer but this time its more manageable and you can hold more throttle at that point too.👍

Best lap was about a 1'41.400 after 6 laps or so.

I then very quickly tried the VCD controller and got mixed results, set initially to 40/60 the car set a blistering pace on the very first lap dipping into the 1'40's with a 1'40.960.

From then on though any lower setting seemed to slow the car a bit, I think it was due to it changing the balance of the car, suspension work might then be needed again. Let me tell you though set to 40/60 with the above suspension settings the Audi is starting to get a bit good, nice and neutral mid corner with dare i say it the odd whiff of oversteer into the mix.

The point im trying to make here is that whilst its not my car to drive, the benefits of tuning can be worth seconds on track and they are well worth having when in competition!

I wanted to join the Classic division too,, after I had participated already in the Modern division,, and I have to say it was a lot of fun:),, For this division I wanted "an old general",, a sports car which is pure and one of the first,, So I saw my Toyota 2000 Gt and I was sold,, Immediatly I flew it over to the track,, and moments later I was driving it,, After my Acura, this car was whobbly and nervous in corners,, but so fun to drive,, drifting is just too easy on this track with these tyres and car.. But I couldn't do that much of course,, or the other contestants would be in danger;),, With the mods I figured it would be best to go for power,, cause the handling is fairly good and it isn't at all heavy,, So I bought two turbine kits,, and went back to the track... I had to work to keep the car in between the lines:),, But it was fun...

Here are the specs:

Name: Toyota 2000 GT
Make: 1967
Engine: L6 DOHC
Displacement: 1988 cc
Power: 256 BHP/ 6600 Rpm
Torque: 267.56/ 5000 Rpm
Weght: 1120 KG
Drivetrain: FR
Aspiration: NA
Power to weight: 4.320

Mods
Sports exhaust
Sports suspension
Racing flywheel
S1 tyres
Stage 1 turbine kit - Suzuka mod
Stage 2 turbine kit - Laguna Seca mod
Oil change

Time: 1'43.211

Nice choice, Deathwish! That's a fabulous car! I'll put you on the leaderboard tomorrow, as I'm about to go to bed.

I put some laps on the Ruf tonight, but despite tweaking the suspension, couldn't make any serious headway: I did a 1'31.88x" which I think is fractionally lower than my best. The good news (well, for me) is that I'm sure there's more to come, maybe another half second, but only when I am sober;)

24Hrs to go, people!

I'm going out tomorrow night, so results will not be posted till about mid-day Sunday.

Get those times in!

well i needed some new rear tyres for the M5 as i wore out the current set by drifting it too much  phoned my mate and he brought down a new set of rear tyres and his yamaha R6(fav bike in TT so far :D ),and then got bragging how much faster bikes were than cars and how the R6 with destory my S4 around here,so i took up his challenge and drove the bike round it to see if it was faster than the S4.

...phoned my mate and he brought down a new set of rear tyres and his yamaha R6...

Ummmm...how did he carry the tyres on the bike? just curious, as there isn't a whole lot of room on the back of an R6 (don't I know it!)

Well the times in my timepost are going to be it for Laguna Seca. Hit targets in the Clio and Alfa which is starting to look like it can beat the french hatch now, the 5 Turbo I didnt quite make target of 1'40.000 but maybe that wasnt realistic as I think i extracted every one of the 210 horses wherever possible!!

Enjoyed the 2nd venue immensely and looking forward to Tsukuba ala rainy season.....

Having a think overnight about which mods to do to the three stooges on the way to Japan and will try and get some laps in tomorrow evening.

👍 again to all been good racing with you, thanks again to Eddie for the series. Keep up the good work:)

regards

David

You have a stock??? It's worse than I thought....

Still can't beat your darn M5, bud, although I'm sure I've got another 3 or 4 10ths in there somewhere...

Please note that Laguna Seca Raceway is closing in 6 hours.
Weather reports from Japan predict rain for our trackday at Tsukuba.
Please address all prayers to the big man upstairs.
Thankyou.

Bah to all you worried people!

*gets out pen-knife and starts cutting extra grooves in all his tyres*

Hey Eddie, are wings legal upgrades? They aren't in the rules, so I assume they are?

The Ginetta must retire at a 1'42.819 because it ate its diff from the extra torque of the stage 2 turbo. GNX and GTO times coming soon.
