I'm guessing the rear-upper windows on the sides lift up with the rear like some sort of clamshell hatch?
A Dutch company, Toncar, produced a bolt-on conversion which just replaced that 440 hatch's tailgate to make it into an estate/wagon. Must have weighed a ton to lift it and it doesn't appear to give much more usable space.

I'd say it's rather uneligant too, but the 440/460 was dumpy to start with.

Reading some vintage comics today, I came across this ad in Archie’s Girls Betty and Veronica #92 from August 1963. In a safety-themed promotion, Popsicle was giving away twenty Peugeot 404 station wagons. It seems like an unusual choice choice of car to give away in the US, especially when there were so many low-priced wagons available from American manufacturers like the Rambler, Corvair, Falcon, and Valiant. I’d love to know if Popsicle actually did give away those Peugeots, and if so, do any still exist?
