I don't understand, what's the problem? everything we have seen so far looks really good and far surpasses me expectations. The damage model looks miles ahead of Forza, the only other things that are close are things like GRID and DIRT and both of those games were extremely arcade.

Well it's obviously not the full game because they wouldn't all be playing the same track. Weired thing is why did they have to pick Tokyo.

Because it's likely to be the same build they demo at the Tokyo game show.
 
Ok, for those of you going on about the scratches & actual damage, watch the video again & pause it whenever the car gets close.

I've done this several times now, & I can clearly see scratched paint as well as dents in the bodywork.

The "A" in Subaru is clearly faded.

Firelli is faded, paint is scratched in multiple places, & more panel damage.

As far as I've seen, Mirza is also the only one whose taken the time to watch the video more than twice, and shown that this is NOT just bumpers & doors falling off, that there actually are scratches & damage being done to the bodywork.

You read wrong, i meant why did they choose to show Tokyo, it's not very graphically pleasing, there are much better tracks, we are in europe. We are gonna have enough of Tokyo at TGS.
 
And don't forget that it has been captured on a hand-held camera.
 
Goodness I was on Neogaf and the number of bitter people is dusturbing. This is what happens when it is not made clear about what will and will not have damage.

Now what MY problem is that according to that video you can race cars with damage against cars without damage. Most retarded decision I have ever seen unless it's arcade mode.

That wouldn't change how the damage looks. Everything is the same in replays as in the races except for motion blur and stuff like that.:sly:

I don't see what everyone is complaining about. We've got physical damage, including scratches and dents, and still everyone whines and complains. Perhaps you're all upset because the car didn't explode when it crashed into the barriers like a Die Hard set piece?

The problem is that you take your opinion as fact. I for instance find Tokyo R246 graphically pleasing as well as nicely detailed and beautiful. Also, I don't see how choosing any other track would have made an important difference. The 'Ring maybe even if it's quite boring in terms of graphics, but driving there for 3 minutes is hardly satisfying.

I think part of the problem is simple things, the rear lights are still perfectly intact as are all the windows, that said im still fairly confident that it'll be much better in the game we all eventually get to play.

On another not after watching the first video(and not focusing on damage) is the movement in the cockpit more realistic, by that I mean when the car breaks hard the camera appears to move forward and acceleration leads to the view moving back abit, or is this something I just havent paid attention to in prologue?

I always found Tokyo to be one of the most boring tracks in GT4 graphically, depressing concrete and sparse environment. Also i would have thought PD would have shown a european track, since they are in Europe.

Looking at those images you've put up, I think perhaps some of the concern is that that's just generic pre-designed damage.

By which I mean, why would the Pirelli logo be 'faded' like that if he got rear ended? Why is there a scratch going through the middle of the number plate on the rear? It's just not realistic in any way, and is the same sort of 'canned damage' that is seen in other racing games.

This is of course still good to see, it's just not what people have come to expect given the years of talk about KY wanting it perfect and that's why it hasn't been done etc.

I'll wait to see what KY has to say about it, it's nice to see something new at least. 👍

Like I said, your opinion, which you are free to choose, but not to state as everyone elses. And since racing is an international sport, I don't see the need for a European track because the fair is in Europe.

It's also possible, and this is purely conjecture on my part, that they chose Tokyo because it's a quick and easy track that you can get a lap or two in during those 3 minutes, and a beginner won't get frustrated like they would on a really hard track?

I can't see them using building a new demo version for every convention they go too. It's probably the build they are going to use for TGS. Hence the Tokyo track.

If the newest version weren't looking like GT4, it would be really pleasing. I can't see anything more, maybe few more branches in the trees.
 
Anyone wonder if the new "feature list" with the 170 "premium cars" corresponds with the premium version that Amar1212 was talking about?
 
I really don't see the problem, what are we comparing this to? If its forza its miles better but if your comparing it to like GTA then its obviously going to be miles behind because GTA has like the best damage modeling ever.

Umm...it looks like a well-rendered city, I don't see what's so ugly about it. Though it was footage taken from a hand-cam so it's hard to tell. Personally, I think it looks just fine.:)

Judging the optical quality of a track filmed off a screen by hand is kind of pointless, since there is so much quality loss on the way. Also, in GT4, the limitations of the PS2 aside, Tokyo already was very detailed. I don't see what else they would put up in the PS3 version of the track just for the sake of it.

Also, in GT4, the limitations of the PS2 aside, Tokyo already was very detailed. I don't see what else they would put up in the PS3 version of the track just for the sake of it.

Are you saying this version looks like the GT4 version? Take a better look... it looks so much better and it's definitely in PS3 graphics.

So do you judge the optical quality of a movie by the downloaded video file of someone who filmed it off at the cinema as well?
