The word is that Fanatec is figuring out some sort of adapter for that.

Making the wheels work with the X1 isnt the issue. That can be worked out easy enough. The question is if MS are going to allow them to work or if MS want all new wheels for the X1. That is what Fanatec are trying to work out.

What could be the possible reasons? Any ideas?

MS wants to make money from licensing fees for a new wheel for every consumer who would have one, instead of grandfathering in the wheels we already own?

LOL, sarcasm detector is going to explode.

That's encouraging to know. Do you have a source for that? I've not been keeping up.

Also anyone know if the PS4 is compatible with G27 fanatics etc?

The makers of Driveclub said most existing wheels will be supported so I think it would be fair to assume they will be.

Thomas stated on his blog while he was at E3 he was TRYING to work something out. Nothing has been said since then and I think most are assuming its not gonna happen.

Evolution have said all existing wheels will work, granted it first day which brand they mean but I'd be confident they will work.

Is it that much different from the current reputation system - which is alreay being abused by the butthurt sore losers?

That's going to be a problem with every system like that, I doubt it's easy to stop that happening, hence why I don't care for them.

The only way a system like that can work is if it's not voted for by other users. Simraceway, for instance, measures your lap times, cornering speed and various other data and comes up with a skill quantification... If it were possible to measure what makes a bad player bad there could be a similar system; number of crashes per minute in Forza, ratio of minutes spent crouched and stationary vs. minutes spent moving in Call of Duty (i.e. a camping ratio), number of C4 jeep kills in Battlefield... That sort of thing.

I don't play FPS but whenever I see moaning about 'camping' and not moving I don't really understand it, isn't that realistic to being a real soldier, not running around and getting shot?

Of course not, real soldiers run around trying to get killstreaks until they get to the 11th kill, when the soldier begins controlling a chopper gunner until he or she gets to the 25th kill where he or she activates a nuke and ends the war.

That's how Saddam Hussein was caught.

Also, snipers 360 no scope.

You'd be right if you were talking about Arma, but Call of Duty is just Quake 3 with more fall damage and reloading. More or less. Same engine and everything. Anyway, my point was that a lot of people see camping as something you'd 'unlike' a player for, hence the example.

I play and mostly enjoy Call of Duty, but even I had to laugh at this one.

But hey, no one said it was there goal to create a realistic shooter, like Battlefield. :sly:

Battlefield BC 2 - I often do "very" long distance kills with G3 rifle - sometimes I just see little dots on my scope - most of the poor souls don't even see it coming  and they called me hackers, will I fall into bad players ? BTW, I don't camp, I moved around every a few kills, so they never found me :sly:

Well that's exactly the point of having an impartial system, players would assume you're hacking and want to vote you down, but a software-based gameplay analyser would know you're playing legitimately, so yeah.

If it works as good as e.g bfbc2 skill points system... :scared:

Microsoft to invest $700m in Iowa data center

GamesIndustry.biz
Demands of Xbox Live instrumental in huge additional investment in cloud computing.

Microsoft will invest nearly $700 million in a new data centre in Des Moines, Iowa.

Microsoft already has a significant data presence in the region, but this $700 million expansion will take the company's total investment to almost $1 billion.

In a statement released to the Des Moines Register, Christian Belady, the general manager of Microsoft's data centre services, said that the expansion, "supports the growing demand for Microsoft's cloud services."

You'll need a lot of hard drives to store all that Kinect data.

jk

Sounds good, things like this really make the price of XBL super justifiable. Right now, I'm slowly starting to realize that PSN+ won't be worth paying for (since I'll only be able to really use it for online play, don't have time to play all the free games) if the network's quality still isn't there/ left up to developers and publishers to manage.

If your sole goal is playing online then I guess you can't Beat XBox live. But know one has experienced the PS4's PSN yet to know which is better.

I wouldn't pay to play online on any system(again). I do however have PS+ because it has more value for the "gamer", me.

Most people should have their own headsets anyway, if you play online even semi-regularly. MS did state that current headsets won't be supported but 3rd party converting cables will undoubtedly be produced to combat this.
