And it keeps on coming

Microsoft Terms of Service to eliminate chance of class action lawsuits

http://www.gamespot.com/e3/xbox-one-terms-of-service-prevent-class-action-suits-6410038/

What's "on me" is to decide between a $350 Wii U that works just fine, a $400 PS4 that works just fine, or a $500 XBone that requires a new TV. It's pretty straightforward from there. When I have a choice, it's not "on me" to buy an HDTV to enjoy a particular brand of pixellated cars running virtual laps. When I don't "need" an HDTV for any other reason, I'm not going to run out and buy one!

What I'll admit to is that I won't always have a choice, and it won't be too much to ask...someday. But that day isn't today, and Microsoft can kiss my ass if they think it is. I guess "they have a product" for SDTV owners. "It's called the Xbox 360."

PS4 only has a HDMI output. It cant connect to a SDTV. Im sure 720p is the minimum resolution too

That's not news. Microsoft already had that in place, and I'm pretty sure Sony has had a similar thing for even longer (since the GeoHot thing). It also doesn't even necessarily mean that if you decided you wanted to jump aboard a gravy train over something stupid that they did that you wouldn't be able to.

So basically he's in the Forza 5 demo area and notices that there are no XBone units anywhere. Wondering what all these demos are running on, he follows the cables to to a cabinet. The cabinet is open on the other side, and dark, so he takes pictures with the flash of his camera. What he sees is a laptop with a bunch of cables. Security then takes him to a small room and after some intimidation he decides to delete the photos so they'll leave him alone.

Why was Microsoft security and PR so worried about photos of a laptop in a cabinet? They said it was just running a looping video. So why were they concerned? Is it because that laptop wasn't actually running a looping video? Given the fact that there were no XBone units in sight and the cables led to this cabinet with a laptop in it, among others which presumably were the same, well, you guys can speculate all you want.

Wait. WHAT!!! O,O

Slightly old news, but Minecraft is coming to the Xbox One :
Minecraft Forums News Page
Bigger worlds! More players! Blocks!

Minecraft was confirmed for the Xbox One yesterday at E3, spear-headed by 360 veterans 4J Studios. Currently, much of what MCX1 will bring to the table is being kept quiet, but behind-the-scenes discussions are, to say the very least, very promising indeed!

Minecraft began on PC, moving first to the Xbox 360, then to portable devices (iOS, Android), spanning well over 20 million players across the board. With their foray into the next-gen Xbox console, it is expected that even more players will join the best gaming community ever, and discover what the rest of us already know: that Minecraft is one of the most awesome games ever!

Details for MCX1 will be revealed in the coming days, so keep your ears to the ground as we bring you all the latest news!

Here in the US there are probably numerous rural-DSL areas with surprisingly low speeds. Honestly, truely fast internet is hard to come by in most of the US. Why, I have no idea. We're usually years behind the rest of the world when it comes to media technology, HDTV being one notable example.

Same thing here. You can get good speeds in the bigger cities, but out in smaller towns where I live or even smaller cities (I go to school in a city of roughly 400k) it just isn't all that fast. At home I have "high speed" that is advertized as up to a whopping 1.5mb/s, and at school it's still only around 5ish.

Think it mostly has to do with how spread out we are. Halifax to Vancouver is a lot of land to cover. Even worse in the US with how much land there is that's actually inhabited.

Here in the area where I live we have up to 30mbps but when you go just a short distance from town you are reduced to dial up or satellite which is a bit on the pricey side and most people do not go for it also is no good for fast paced internet gaming or even chat due to the lag from the satellite.

That got me thinking, because even if you wanted one of those Xbox things it will not work, even as much desire to play it just ... wont (around here at least).

There's a difference between require and recommend, the actual quote there uses recommend. Don't see an issue with that, they're essentially saying if you've got less than this you'll experience performance issues, rather than ìt will lock you out if you've got less than this.

For the 1.5 Mbps, it says recommended not required? This means that for optimal experience you need at least 1.5 Mbps, but it isn't required to run the console. Right?

I've got 0.3. If it is only recommended then I'd still expect massive performance issues at 5 times less than what they want.

Contact BT and badger them over and over, that is below the minimum acceptable standard as issued by the Government. Phone BT and tell them you want an immediate upgrade, or you'll go to OFCOM.

I live in the country in a small village with roughly 200 habitants and still get 150Mb/s. :p

Im currently working in Luanda - Angola but I live in Lisbon - Portugal and so does my family and my net speed never drops below 20mbs and is a below average internet service there (portugal) so that map isnt that accurate

It's not about internet quality it's the countries Microsoft says the XBONE will definitely work in. Since it requires an internet connection there is a chance it won't work anywhere other than those countries.

Jalopnik contributor gets thrown in "Microsoft jail" for taking pictures of a laptop inside a cabinet.

Why should there be XBone units in sight? The thing won't release for several months yet, it isn't a finished article or anything. At this type of events it's pretty common that they run all their stuff, be it videos or gameplay demos, on some other tech. And they don't like people snooping around that tech, which I can understand perfectly. Nothing to see here really.

@CAMAROBOY69 and HBR-Roadhog:
I've enjoyed some HD gaming here and there. It looks nice, but it's also frustrating. I still play on SDTV because I still play (old) games where timing matters. NES games on an HDTV will make you pull your hair out; it's astonishingly bad. Even Enthusia Professional Racing, a game from 2005, becomes noticably more difficult with the lag from an HDTV. Not acceptable, not for me.

When a friend brings Rock Band to my house, I have to go and uncalibrate the delay in the controls, because there is none! That fact is so much more valuable to me than HD resolutions. To my eyes, more pixels doesn't make something look more real, it just makes it look like it's made of smaller pixels. Illegible text is the only issue I've ever had in the HD age, so I have no compelling reason to upgade.
Sounds like you played on a poor quality HDTV or had a bad experience with it. No offense. The new better quality HDtvs do not have those issues. Especially the HDTVS with 120hz or 240hz refresh rate. I have a Sony Bravia that is mind blowing impressive. (took me a month of research and over 5 tvs to finally pick the Sony Bravia) I actually have an entire thread dedicated to this research.

I would say try a few at your house. You have at least 30 days for a FULL refund if you are not happy. I just cant comprehend someone not owning an HDTV these days. You are truly missing out.

Misfired on my last bad news Xbox story. So heres another

Xbox One requires a minimum 1.5mbps download internet connection Speed

http://www.examiner.com/article/xbox-one-has-a-1-5mbps-download-speed-internet-requirement?t=1/
That is actually fantastic news. There SHOULD be a requirement for online connection. Sick of trying to play with people that have a very poor connection and ruin the experience for everyone else. This is excellent news IMO.
However 1.5 download is still not that good. But if its on dedicated servers it wont be too bad. Anyone trying to host person to person with 1.5 download is just terrible. I have been saying that for dang near 10 years straight. That's why you keep seeing "host migrated" in every person to person game. Someone with a 1.5 mb download or less will not successfully host a 16 player room with out problems if they are in a person to person hosted game. 1.5 for dedicated servers will be okay but will still create problems for sure.

So the combination of a minimum required internet connection combined with dedicated servers is going to make for excellent online gaming. Great news for sure.

150MB a second?
Oh damn! I wanted to say Mb and not MB. Bytes and bits are not the same, my bad.
I'll use Mbit from now on, I think it's better this way.

And yes, 150Mbit/s.

I also checked the number of habitants, it's not 200 - another mistake. 350 people do apparently live here (damn where are they hiding?!? I never see them... :p )

I guess my luck is that there's a main street right in the near with tons of fiberglass cables hiding underneath.

In the remote case I'll buy an Xbox One, how can I prevent kinect to spy my room? Can I cover with a piece of cloth or something? Will it works?

Lucky guy. I am currently on 6 Mbit/s. In Germany it can vary between 300 kbit/s to 50Mbit/s on cupper lines.

The supported countries are not very different to the previous ones for the xbox 360. Supported means that you can be sure that there is phone support for waranty cases, troubleshooting and questions. Plus the providers are mostly supporting the live service. I think there are quite many xbl players from eastern europe, especially poland. If the Xbox One will keep them out this time through a strict blocking methode, it would be bad.

I think those Xbox One "funny" videos are not that funny anymore. Maybe it was some days after the announcements, but it just beacame a sadly looking circle jerk from my point of view. Some people are still interested in the Xbox One and it would be nice to have a clean thread to gather information and discuss normal topics.

In the remote case I'll buy an Xbox One, how can I prevent kinect to spy my room? Can I cover with a piece of cloth or something? Will it works?

Just dont buy it, if you think it will spy on you. Easy as that. If you are certain that a product will have such a negative inpact on your privacy, why would you buy it?
