Again, the 1.5Mbps is just a recommendation correct? Like a program recommending 5GB of RAM but can still function with 2GB?

I can host matches without lag, even in games with horrible Netcode. *Cough cough* Halo 3. Upload and Download speeds are not great, but my ping is very, very quick. As long as nobody uses internet while I'm playing a game, then I never have a problem. (My download speed is 1.3Mbps on a very good day) I hope that just because I'm .2Mbps off of their recommended (or required I'm not sure really) speed, I won't get kicked off the Xbox.

I'm getting an Xbox One because of Halo really. And my friends are all getting it. If I switch to PS4 I'm going to miss out on my favorite shooter game, and not have my friends to play. I'm waiting for Gran Turismo 7 to come out before I get the 4.

I thought they meant 1.5 mbp/s as in the package you subscribe too not the actual download speed

my 1mb/s connection gives me a whopping 115 kb/s download speed /so close

What a shame for Forza Motorsport 5 being restricted in this load of brawn bad smelling thing.

I can put duct tape on the kinect and microphone, but the 24h online pass is too much for me. What if for some reason I have a 10 minutes online blackout just when the Xbox CrapOne check my connectivity and then tell me I have to wait 24h to play again?

What if that is my day off and I want to race Forza 5 the whole afternoon but a can't??
I can kill for this, seriosusly.

That's way too much, don't want to go to jail because of a console LOL.

Anybody here from one of the countries Xbox one isn't supporting at launch?

Pretty poor tbh :/
There are quite a few Japanese folks on here for starters, and I've seen a few from Hong Kong as well, plus I bet there are many from Eastern Europe, oh and Portugal too, ah yes I think I've seen a couple of fellas from South Africa on here also.

I've been thinking about this recently and here's how I think/am pretty sure it will work:

The XBone is always "on" if it's plugged in, even if you're not using it (it hibernates in low-power like a PC in sleep mode) so therefore, if you have it connected to the internet, it's 'online' even when it's 'off' if that makes sense. The "Online Check" is constant; the second it disconnects from the internet, a 24 hour clock starts, and if it gets all the way down without reconnecting then it stops working for games.

I don't think it'll be a "your XBone must connect to the internet at 12:00pm local time each day" type thing. It'll be like I said, where it starts the clock when it loses connection.

For the second time today, if you disconnect you can play your games for 24 hours offline, after which you must connect again. You won't be locked out for 24 hours if someone unplugs your router.

Ok thanks, could eventually need some duct tape and a new steering wheel then.

What steering wheels will be supported?

Sadly, it's most likely the current Fanatec wheels won't work with the Xbox One. But Thrustmaster is making a wheel for Forza 5.

I must be really crazy to get into all this sheet. Please Assetto Corsa become true so I can stop thinking about.

And I couldn't resist but:

i'm from Chile but for me its not a problem, ps4 was always my option (i bought the ps3 when gt5 came out ).
But obviously i think that for the xbox fanboys this must be terrible news.

Whilst they will surely expand over time you have to wonder how many sales they'll lose to PS4 in the meantimes, sales they may never get back if those people decide one console a generation is enough.

I'm just about to learn to drive. I work on minimum wage and if stuff fell into place I'd probably move out of my parents and into a house with a friend. I think 1 console is even pushing it for me. I can't be spending £1000 on games consoles. Then the games on top.

The current generation is the only time I've owned more than one console at the same time as I've been in nicely paid jobs but I still didn't buy them at full price. I paid IIRC £300 for the 360 in 2007 that included two games and £200 for the PS4 in 2010.

I'll certainly be getting a PS4, although not a launch, but MS are going to have to do a lot over the next few years to convince to own two consoles again even once it does get reduced.

So what happens when you don't connect to the internet for 24 hours? I still don't get it. The Xbox is done? I can't play for 24 hours?

As soon as you connect back to the internet you will be able to play games again.

Quite simply you can play games for a maximum of 24 hours offline. If you don't connect after 24 hours your games won't work, at all. As soon as you do connect, games will work again.

^ sounds like a joke but it's not LOL who in their right mind would support such a product?

People said who in there right mind would pay for online too at one time.

Funny how things pan out over time. I'm dead against this business model but Who knows what the norm is 10 years from now.

Xbox (pioneered) paying for online play. To Sonys credit they went against that but that's changed now. Maybe DRM could be on the cards for Sony if certain 3rd party's insist.

The Dailey login won't happen on PS4 though. Thankfully.

I can understand their need for the DRM, but online check is stupid, they could have made it online check to play online which is a normal thing lol, but online to play offline? stupid indeed

Sounds like you played on a poor quality HDTV or had a bad experience with it. No offense. The new better quality HDtvs do not have those issues. Especially the HDTVS with 120hz or 240hz refresh rate. I have a Sony Bravia that is mind blowing impressive. (took me a month of research and over 5 tvs to finally pick the Sony Bravia) I actually have an entire thread dedicated to this research.

I would say try a few at your house. You have at least 30 days for a FULL refund if you are not happy. I just cant comprehend someone not owning an HDTV these days. You are truly missing out.

Ah, but they do have lag issues, just not as bad. By the way, enabling 120/240hz frame interpolation on an hdtv will only introduce more lag.

I am sure that I am in an extreme minority here, but the omission of an analogue video output affects me greatly, and not because I am stuck in the dark ages. I use both a plasma display and an hd crt for gaming. If I want a next gen console, my beloved crt will not be able to display anything from it. Leaves me pumping money in to an hdcp stripper like the HDfury. Hmmm, as things simplify, they become very complicated.

There is a market for Xbox One, its just not s big as the 360.

As an IGN reviewer said, they are willing to sacrifice the people who trade and buy used games (even if they're more), and welcome people who are willing to buy all the games new

It's because of their full disc installs and no need to have the disc in the drive. If they did that and then had no online checks people could obviously play games for free.

lol, good luck with that MS 👍

MS can still do without the online checks, a cross check on the disc ID + console ID + account used to install on the console should prevent multiple install on different console - this should not need constant daily login check - just one mandatory online check when installing a game disc to make sure it's not currently tied to any console/account.

I think the used game scheme uses Disc ID to identify owner of the game disc for the purpose of selling to the authorized retailers. Registered disc id will be deleted from previous owner ( console + account ) before it can be sold again by used game retailer. At least that's how I comprehend these restrictions so far.

I can't see that happening. With the reaction Microsoft is getting for this business Model and Sony wanting to be As Consumer friendly as possible, its abit foolish for that third party publisher to expect major profits by having them adapting that business model.

If that rumor I heard about EA and Sony having a fallout is true, I think the whole DRM policy might be why.

RACECAR, I have all the love and respect in the world for you, dude, but this is the kind of things that just demands a source. 👍

Whilst I do agree that I don't think this is going to be the way forward the backlash was just as heavy if not heavier when MS came out with XBL Gold. It was pay to play online and you needed broadband internet in 2002. People though it was just as mad as they do this now.
