I started with the Ford Ka and reached car/ manufacturer level 4 and already have 100% discount for all parts except wheels and engine/ driveline swaps.
This discount applies to all Ford vehicles. I don't have to spend a cent to upgrade a Ford again in the game and I barely drove around the car.
I have ABS on and auto trans but every other assist off. I have yet to find the game very difficult. I am not the best driver but this doesn't feel as difficult as Forza 3. I am ahead at turn 2 or 3 and I am using 100% stock vehicles.
Also, why the bonuses on top of bonuses after the race. Random credits bonuses and the like. I haven't played much at all and am at level 7, have 150k and have a dozen cars. And I've played maybe a dozen races so far.
Game just seems too easy IMO right now.

That's disappointing if true, but in honesty I won't be playing this game for that sort of challenge. Yes I want the AI to race hard, but after that it's all about tuning cars and the like for me......lots of cars! Oh and racing other people.

It seems like many game companies have gone to these sorts of strategies hoping to keep the diehard fans and to gain people who are first time players/n00bs. They've gained me, but I want a hard game personally.

I did notice that until I turned the game on professional/expert on the demo it was wicked easy.

And your real challenge comes with online gaming. Think of the easier single player as giving you a better war chest to indulge in against human players. :)

I agree with the above statement. This game is about racing others. I plan on trying to get my affinity high with any Make before I tune the car. I dont want to spend a dime unless I have to.

The game does seem easy in that respect though. I started with the Toyota Aygo and I dont have any assists at all and easily have won the majority of the races by a large margin. I do like the changes in pace with the multi-class races and the Top Gear challenges. However, I wish you could go BACK in your class. I want to race more amateur series without going through the event calendar. Does that make sense?

I am enjoying it so far but it does seem VERY easy.

They made it easier to earn credits in FM4 after lots of people complained that FM3 was too hard, had too high a price on upgrades and didn't give out enough rewards.

I think this was the comment in some reviews of FM4. Even at level 30+ the reviewer said his F-class car could hang with A-class cars for several lap(?) - I think that was the ISR review.

It has been pretty easy for me as well but I haven't run many races yet and haven't had much of a chance to level up.

If you're starting in world tour I assume it is going to take awhile for the game to calculate your driving abilities and adjust itself to you.

You can still make the game as hard as you want.

Choose lower spec'd cars than the competition.
Turn all assists off.
Crank up the difficulty if you're not in world tour.
And of course, race online.

You can set the AI to hard by going into the options in world tour, and trust me not all races are easy. I had a few races where I had to resort to blocking the AI on the last run to the finish line. As far as what they are doing with credits and affinity i LOVE it because you can save money to buy something RIDICULOUS and tune it how you feel. I never got the the chance to own many cars in FM 3 just because I didnt accumulate enough credits to buy them. I play offline 90% of the time and I dont have storefront material to make money so the way the game is structured fits me perfectly and I think it makes sense.

Also..kind of early in the game to be making those judgments....you are just a level 7. I hit 24 last night and the AI is not so friendly anymore. I even hat to outright quit a race because my C class benz kept getting chewed up some muscle cars on road america, came back with my Mustang GT and had a close race. They walk my stang on the shorter straights but the long straight would give me enough of an advantage over time to win the race. Besides, being that you are level 7 isnt it nice to have a game that doesnt slap you in the balls at the very beginning?

I am sure that as you progress it will become more difficult. Keep in mind, there are 150 levels now compared to 50 as before. I tested out some faster cars, and it was immediately more noticeable how difficult it will be with faster cars. Wow.

I would seriously question the difficulty level they were playing on than since in the F/B event I just did the B class cars pulled away from the start and I never saw them again.

One thing I am noticing is that the AI is really inconsistent, they will be ultra slow on one track and amazingly fast on another.

Nice your using the Mustang GT of course I am biased. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I will.

I was a little disappointed that the GT has only the Saleen body kit to choose from again despite all the Mustang body kit options out there. I always buy all the new Mustangs in Forza, but I am still a Vette guy.

Each AI has it's own personality.
F3 you could read about each driver, Rossi etc.
Doesn't F4 feature descriptions of drivers too?

Yep, they're listed in your profile, and with the same little descriptions that were used in FM3.

Tell me about it. I built a 800+HP ZR1 (700 S-Class) and messed around in free play with it and the car is insaine (sport tires didn't help but man was it fun, ).

I am hoping it gets more difficult over time. I didn't buy the game to play online. Online play is frustrating to me. Either you get noobs who can't make turn one or ya got the tuners who know the game like the back of your hand. I tried rivals mode and liked it but tried 3 races and again, won them easily, even when I started from a standstill and they used lap 2 as a time.
I have plenty of time I guess to learn to tune my cars and learn the tracks better to race the hardcore players.

You are just starting, keep playing.

Oh yea Chris, the Vettes are a beast now, much easier to lose it than it was in FM3. Every time I use my z06 in fighting it out with the second place car. Oh and if you get stuck behind the AI traffic and the leader starts pulling away......may the force be with you. At times you can catch up and at times you cant.

As a full disclaimer, I have not yet played Forza 4, have to wait for friday to buy it. But it seems that at first, Forza 4 will have the opposite of GT5's problem (pre Seasonals). But at least with the Auction House and the marketplace, there are more things to spend one's money on.

Its balanced, you have a higher chance of getting to own and customize every car in the game over a reasonable amount of time. You can build and experiment on as many machines as you want now. Its a good balance of payoff with out the overgrind in FM3 and GT5.

I played FM3 offline the majority of the time and I didnt have a store front so cash didnt come by as often and I didnt get a chance to own may of the 1mil plus cars that I wanted so this is perfect for me.

Guys who are new to Forza have to understand that the AI is a pushover in the beginning. In reality it's no different than most console racing games. I think Race Pro may have been the only game with a tougher AI at the beginning. Oh and definitely F1 2K series. Those guys jump on your no matter what. But that game is structured differently anyway. F1 has no career where the AI starts out slow, after all they're F1 drivers for a reason. They do have difficulty levels though

I did find it annoying and awesome at the same time when I bought a Z. I was expecting to shell out over 100k on parts and appearance to find out everything is free. Had trouble figuring out whether that is good or bad

I normally turn off everything except for Auto Trans...and it seems the 908 is much tougher to drive this time around compared to 3.

I do think the AI is a bit more agressive this time around. I havent had any close races but im still doing the F/E stuff.

Well, easy and easy, it depends, i think the real thing is online racing. Easy credits can both be a good thing or a bad thing. Just look at gt5 in the beginning, it was super hard to earn credits, and that caused people to glitch and do other stuff...

I've read that the AI gets much harder later on. In the beginning they are pushovers and peanuts but later on in the more expert series of races... watch out!

Yeah in the beginning they are nice and easy, and later on they are hard as hell, pushing your car, performing road blocks etc...

On man they were getting to me last night even started getting road rage  at the guy driving the 599 GTO in one race.

God I cant wait to play this game tonight.
