Have you ever raced someone on GT5 and thought to yourself that you must have witnessing a special talent drive in front of you. Have you recorded the replay and thought, "how do they do that".

Just tell me if you've ever thought about this and just held your hands up and said, "I can't do that!"

I look forward to hearing your responses.

every time i race my ghost

ROFL. You may have been joking but this happens to me a lot.

Sometimes in a time trial, I will be flabbergasted by the speed of my ghost and get a feeling of, BS, cheater, how does he do that! I wish I was that fast....

but its only through certain sections. If I could combine my times from cut outs of a track I could achieve miracle times.

every time i race my ghost

It must be said, that made me laugh.

I have to say though, this:

Doesn't look too hard - I am intrigued to see what I achieved on this event. Next time I boot up I shall check and no doubt have my ego crushed. So in response to the OP, I normally see something and think - "I could do that". But of course, when it comes down to it, it is seldom the case.

everytime i go online. i tell myself:

i have not memorized the track
i have not tuned my car
i dont have a good wheel setup

My only experience like this was watching the GT Academy replays. No matter how hard I tried I could not take turns at the speed of some of those replays. I learned a lot though and shaved tons of time off by watching and learning. Now those tracks are some of my favorite online because I've put the time in to learn the fastest line...but when it comes to tracks i don't know you could give me a 100hp advantage and I'd still struggle to keep up with someone who knows the track and car.

The smoothness of the GT academy guys using ds3 made me hang my head in shame lol

I usually think of the 'Alien' (they must be Professional) drivers as people who spend a lot of time playing GT5; and less time working, spending time with family, or socializing. :)

For the hours I put in, I am competitive in most races; and even professionals make a mistake :sly: lettings us slower folks catch up :)

I raced someone called something along the lines of 'therealschumacher'. The speed he was flinging cars round I think he could have put Michael to shame!

There was also the guy in GT5 prologue who had the fastest lap around Fuji that was 1.14.4.. (I think). I downloaded his ghost and matched him through the first few turns then all of a sudden he was gone. Checked his replay and he didn't cut any corners. Fastest i could manage was a 1.18.200 :(

just watched the video. Notice the accelerator meter does not drop on gear changes. Is this the clutch cheat in action?

It's true. There are some guys out there who really have extraordinary talent. I've been sim racing for a few years. I know I'm not the fastest guy out there but I like to think, all things being equal, when I'm really 'on it' that I can run within a second of anybody. And in some cases it's true. But there are some guys out there who manage to pull away from me even when I'm putting in what I consider to be as close to a perfect lap as I can manage. And to make it even more amazing is that they have the uncanny ability to do it consistently. So when you do make a minor mistake here or there, they're not just 1.5~2.0 seconds faster but 2.5~3.0 seconds. Bloody depressing.

Join the WRS and you get to feel weak, insignificant and talentless every single week!

I have that feeling when i watch the drifting replays of Stepmania in GT5P.

every time i race my ghost

:lol::lol:

Same thing happens to me sometimes, I'm thinking "what the" during most of my hotlaps:D

TBH, I often see a lot of talented drivers online, some can drive laps of Nurby incredibly fast without making any mistakes.

I've had a time where I was sticking onto the tail of a tuned GTR car in a Ford GT LM Race Car for the whole race, only managed to overtake him on the final corner.

I was once beaten by Chuck Norris who was driving a Skyline while I was driving the X1 with Racing Soft. And it was at Daytona! And he was on comfort hard!

Just watching the #1 time trial time and thinking oh that's easy, just use the whole track, hit the apexes, keep it smooth.
Then you do the race and realise it's oh so different than it looks.

People think that about me all the time... Then I touch the grass and bounce off a wall and they are like.. "nope, noob!"

Hahaha so your that guy...

That is a very good time. I just realisied that is over a 1 second and a half quicker than gold. I use Daniel Holland as my benchmark as he uses the same wheel as me, the Logitech GT.

Check this out, with only ABS 1 as driving aid. I see that video and think I can never do that. He is many seconds faster than me on that challenge.

Fast wheel drivers are always impressive but it's the guys who can be just as quick and smooth with the pad that impress me more, like the guy who has done the X Challenge with a pad.

I had meet alot of special drivers in GT5 online, and Im not bad driver, but some of them are just flooded with talent and are so fast! Thing is that I notice about them, 99% of them love all cars, all tracks, all sports including grip, drift etc. and they do it well. and they dont care what car we all drive (they dont tell they dont like it or hate something) they just drive and do it wery well... some special people I have to say! Love to race with that kind of guys!

That was a great video, he is like 1 min faster then me. Seems that he's using some sort of technique to instantly get them into the correct slip angle for every turn. The tires are not even going red and it seems to be drifting every corner.

I've heard that some people, specially those who don't drive in real life don't have there brain wired like those that do. We sense and feel motion visually and with sound more then they do and this lack of sense allows them to drive like this. To them its a game and mastering the flick is what you need to do, for me I drive in the game like how I would on the track in real life.

I know what you're saying about the ghost. Some friends and I were racing the Nurburgring a few weeks back and, for an entire lap, I do not think I was more than 2 meters away from a friends car.

For that one lap I was driving way, way beyond my skill level ( I know he's better than I am ) and I spent an entire lap thinking "How am I doing this?". When I skidded off in the 2nd lap I just had to accept that it was inevitable.

It happens to me more in FPS games where I often pump about 7 shots into someone who then just turns round, caps me with a headshot from about 100ft away and then saunters off to find someone else to kill.

good point! I notice this in many good drivers in GT that never driven a real car! they just see it different..

Well Sebastian Loeb is also very fast in these challenges. I think his times are many seconds faster than Gold time. That guy who did this time got into GT Academy too but got kicked out due to not attending a media interview session I think.

I think if he is 1 minute faster than you, then you are just slow as you will be 42 seconds slower than me and 35 seconds slower than Bronze. I think people confuse these top guys as having no life, or they practice forever or won't be good in real life but that is usually the opposite. They have a lot of talent and a lot of raw speed and most likely spend little time to get top times compared to us slower people.

i see a lot of good drivers on line , sometimes i can follow them , sometimes no , but still my friends say that im also a good driver and i have one huge handicap , i have my right arm paralized , but still i use dfgt manual shift , ff at 8 all aids off except abs-1.

1min was a bit off, I ran gold and just barely beat the ghost car in this challenge.

I constantly need to think about racing the clock/track instead of focusing on the car in front. Even if I do that I get the "last lap curse" and wipeout almost every time.
