This game isn't worth 40.00 or 30.00 bucks.

As Paulie said in post #2, we all have got a ridiculous amount of use out of this game. I have played GT5P way too much, probably well over 5000 hours in total, actually possibly 10000+hours. Starting to get to the "get a life" stage I know. But to be honest, I would've payed $100AUD for this game. I knew I was going to love it.

And to reply to Paulie's post, GT5P is the first time I've ever raced online and to be honest the online system is shocking compared to rFactor. In GT5P obviously no private rooms, qualifying etc. But on rFactor there is also virtually no lag against who ever you race which is fantastic. I'm hoping GT5's online system will be something similiar to rFactor's. But racing online on GT5P is certainly very enjoyable.👍

Lag shmag, get an AU/NZ host and we're set, the battles are better on GT5:P.:sly: They should have a statistic that says gaming hours in GT5.:D And btw, this is a life.

Yeah, it's fine when a AU/NZ driver hosts. For me it's sort of a life too actually. I base half my weeks around GT5:P competitions.:D

On rFactor, it is so much harder to pass due to the realism of the game. Such as a realistic slipstream and a Touring car(e.g Holden Commodore VK ATCC) that is very hard to drive. This means that you need to get good exits of corners to get the job done and execute the passing move. But this makes it less "fun". GT5:P is fun because of all the close racing it provides and i've said it before, the exaggerated draft creates very close racing Aussie Racing car style(small racing cars, like legends).

Sorry for going off topic.

What something is worth is entirely in the eyes of the beholder. Do you feel GT5P is worth it? If the answer is yes then it is worth it. If the answer is no then it is not worth it. I've had more than enough online racing to tell me that it's worth it to me.

I disagree. There are NO OTHER GAMES i've played out there that I still play heavily after 1 year of usage.

Then I will buy GT5, which I will get years for usage out of. Worth it. Yes.

Couldn't agree more. 1 year after purchase and I still can't wait to get home from work and on it 👍

All the best

It was worth it for me because of the price. I feel I squeezed out all of the entertainment for a price of $10.79. I go back once in a while to race online, but otherwise, I've been pretty bored of the PS3 in general, not just GT5: Prologue.

I ended up buying a used copy from Blockbuster, which at the time set me back around $20. So, I got a better deal than most, but if I absolutely had to, I would have bought a new one for full price. It's GT, so it's worth it.

It's a matter of opinions. I have plenty of other games that I bought prior to GT5P. I find myself getting bored with them fairly quickly, but since I had GT5P I have not purchase any other games. In my perspective, I saved a lot of money because of GT5P 👍

I find GT5P Boring now, i payed £18 new for it on release, it was worth its money but with the lack of cars & tracks i find it a chore to play and havent really touched it in weeks, i prefere call of duty and think its a much better game, i hope the main GT5 isnt such a let down.

This apple taste sweeter than this orange. Hum I like the apple better. Please make your argument reasonable. I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOUR POINT!

I am surprised how many people got this game at $40.00. It is literally probably 10 % (maybe) of what the full game will offer, yet you paid for more than half of what GT5 will cost. Doesn't add up. Even at its 30 dollar price, it's way too high. Again, Prologue doesn't have even close to 50% of what GT5 will possess, yet people paid for half of what GT5 will cost. The math just isn't there. I got it for 10.79 and I feel that's a bit more reasonable. I don't feel cheated and I applaud those who struck gold at Target, too. *phew*. I had to rant. At least those that paid extra helped out the GT series! Thank you, guys!👍 Who agrees? And who is going with the "well I am a die hard fan and will pay anything for a GT game!!"?

GT5P is the best racing game I've ever played on a console (I haven't played much Forza, and never played TOCA or Enthusia). Physics and online alone make it worth the money. If there are any rip-off racing games, it's NFS. Nothing they recently produced was worth $60, $40, or even $20.

I did explain.... GT5 gets boring, 'cod' doesnt, simple as.

I find it the opposite, Call of duty (on PC I don't play fps's with a crappy controller) gets boring quickly, I never go back to them.

Well I agree that GT games are boring if you just play through them to beat them. However look through these forums and you can see that GT games have more replay value than any other game on the Playstation system.

I guess the fact we are all insane and willing to spend hours trying to pass a license test also helps PD's case.

I still find GT5P a very enjoyable game. I forget how much I payed for it but I certainly have not had the slightest feeling of regret since I bought it.

Personally, the online racing is my favourite feature of the game. Being able to race with some friends every night is a great thing and that is what reminds me how GT5P is a game that is worth it.

I used to like COD4 then Killzone 2 came along. After that everything about COD4 feels incredibly unrealistic- from the graphics, the control and the gameplay. It's still fairly good game if slightly overated. As to GT5P, I don't play it as much as I used to but for the first 12 months, it commanded almost all of my gaming time. I do have to add that having a good FFB wheel would further increase the value of Prologue. It's just not the same if one were to be using a Dualshock 3 or even worse a Sixaxis pad.

It all comes down to what each of us value at the time.

I've spent more money on absolute rubbish(tools mainly) and still thought of it as a bargain at the time.

This is over a year old and I feel as though I'm getting the value I thought I would, time and time again.

Anyway whats $30-$40 for a few hours/days/weeks/months entertainment.....pitence I say

No way, the Sixaxis is so much better than DS3.

:dunce: Ok, seriously, I've drunk too much today.

What's happening to this forum?
I'm interested to hear why you think this, the SIXAXIS has no vibration and is too light (in my opinion). DS3 has a good weight and vibration adds 10x value to your game experience, especially in Gran Turismo, feeling when your car starts to move around and hitting the kerbs etc is an important output to act upon.

Three reasons for Sixaxis superiority:

1 No vibration

2 Light weight

3 Less expensive (probably due to 1)

I've never tried a Sixaxis but I do like my DS3s. Heavy? No. Vibration? Duh, and IT'S GOOD. Expensive is relative. Games are more expensive. $50.00 isn't criminal.

How is no vibration a benefit? I feel something is missing without it, especially when I first jumped from PS2 to PS3, it just isn't the same and the whole game lacks any feeling at all, you're reacting to purely sound and vision then.
Its worth the money and it doesn't weigh that much more, its better balanced than the SIXAXIS anyway, its nice to have a decent weight in your hands rather than a feather controller.

Well, you could combine reasons 1 and 3. The only things vibration gives me is "hey, my controller is shaking" and "I just lost $20 because my controller is shaking" (It's ~$20 more than what the Sixaxis sold for right?)

I've had vibration off since PS1, I've tried the DS, DS2, and DS3, each vibration function was an improvement, but in the end and shaky controller adds nothing to the experience. I don't understand why everyone likes heavier controllers, but oh well.

Oh, and to stay on topic and correct myself, the ability to play online is what makes GT5P good, the online system itself needs fixing (user created events and rooms)

I actually can kind of side with prologue being too expensive at $30-40. It's the single most expensive demo I've ever bought, and the whole concept of 'buying' a demo just isn't my kind of thing. I would also rather think of it as a demo than a full retail game, because as a full video game it's pretty lousy. The menu system is extremely clunky, online plays like an afterthought, the failures of the update process completely enraged me and certain other features like GT-TV don't seem to work well at all. All things considered, what I think this demo needs most is a good solid turd-polishing.

I have no trouble with the amount of content in it (cars are plenty, a few more tracks would be nice) but it strikes me that GT4 at just $20 is much better value for money. Hell it'd be a better value at the $60 than prologue is at it's current $30. GT4 is just 'more game' in almost every way. Realism and graphics being the difference.

however, that's not to say I haven't had fun with my copy of 5p. I am on a gran turismo forum afterall. aside from gt5p being pretty, I really like the full g25 support, the number of cars (both in terms of racing grid size and the game's total count), and that online play is at least there in some form.

But I just really don't think it was worth the $35 I payed when I compare it to the level of entertainment I've come to expect from a ps3 title. I'm just wondering when the next fully-polished gran turismo experience will be heading my way.

In the US it was a $5 difference ($50 vs $55) and Wal*Mart knocked the $5 off the price of the DS3. So, for me it was zero cost difference to get my two DS3s.

I've had vibration off since PS1, I've tried the DS, DS2, and DS3, each vibration function was an improvement, but in the end and shaky controller adds nothing to the experience. I don't understand why everyone likes heavier controllers, but oh well.
I can feel when my car goes on the rumble strips, if my tires are spinning/slipping, and in shooters if I am in a heavy firefight and it is hard to see the visual cues when I am being shot because of the muzzle flash from my own gun the vibration lets me know. I found I died much less in Warhawk after I got a DS3. In LittleBigPlanet if you are dangerously close to a hazard the controller vibrates.

And finally, have you ever played Metal Gear Solid? Psycho Mantis makes that thing actually move across the floor.

Honestly, it is an extra sensory input adding feel to sight and sound.

To me, asking why anyone likes vibration in a controller is like asking why you want force feedback in a steering wheel.

And on topic: I pre-ordered the game. Worth every penny.

I would add that having played the game for over a year, having a good wheel preferably with force feedback (in my case the G25) would add more value to the game. But in the end it comes down to how much you actually want from the game. To some, it's all about finishing all the required races, getting all the cars and then a few online races (in which Prologue isn't the most ideal multiplayer experience).
For someone like me, I can spend hours just comparing the different cars- the handling, how they look in the replays and then there's always GTTV. I've downloaded all the Super GT videos which taught me a lot about all the GT500 and GT300 cars in the series and to see races at Fuji, Suzuka Twin Montegi, Autopolis, Okuyama is an eye opener, I got some of Top Gear episodes and Polyphony's own production: the ones on Ferrari, the history of Nissan GTR, the Nurburgring 24 hrs, GT by Citroen. What I paid- which was around $50 with the Dualshock 3 included (I got it when Prologue was released which happened to coincide with DS3 release in NA)- is quite a bargain considering what I got out of it.

Theres your problem right there.

Your maths forgot to add in the variable for the "Satisfaction" multiplyer. Thats why your maths doesnt add up. Put that in and it should fix it up for you.

Sorry but IMHO ,if your calculating Number of cars (x) by number of tracks (y) over Cost (s) to derive ROI (z) then you are looking at the game all wrong.

hahahah...that was a good one.

Of course, if we look at GT's history, we could argue that HD was the prologue, GT5P is actually GT5, and "GT5" will be GT6.
Based on content levels of GT1, 2, 3, and 4.
The first game for every console has had dramatically less content than the second.
