The pit lane entry/exit penalty is exactly three seconds. Whatever the half-second is for it's come from something else.

Are you sure you didn't get the 3s ding from crossing the line entering the pits? It'd be worth checking your replays - even touching the solid line with your tyres will earn the penalty. It's really easy to do at Watkins Glen - as I assume you're talking about the current Daily Race C - and I even noted that in our Daily Races article this week:

crossing the solid lines at pit lane entry and exit — which is really easy to do here — also gives you a three second penalty for each offense to be served on the circuit at the penalty zones

Edit: I just tested an Arcade race with pit lane entry/exit rules and I got no penalty for pitting properly, and a +3s penalty displayed at pit exit for touching the line at pit entry:

It wouldn't make much sense if Autodrive was doing it at pit exit, because that'd give everyone a three-second penalty due to the mandatory stop. Except the guys getting a minute added for skipping it, of course.

Incidentally, we're not the developers of Gran Turismo 7, nor are we linked in any way to the developers or publishers. We're an independent media site, and it's thus not our game that's crap.

But we are the best resource, and are able to help people out with understanding various details.

Gt7 developers your game is a joke! When you play online and drive out of the pit lane you get a 3.5 second penalty for what! Crossing the pit lane even though its the computer that doing auto drive out of the pits!!! I’m deleting the game I’m getting pissed of with it now all the time!!!
Do you have a clip of the pitstop?

Although, some pit exits on auto-drive sometimes give you the control back at a bad moment and you need to be ready to turn as soon as you get control otherwise you go straight across the line.

I had the same annoyance before I learned the pit limits for each track. My main criticism of GT7 is how 99% of career mode races are rolling starts where the leading car is half the track in front for some unknown reason. It's like the devs don't know how to program standing start AI OR they know their AI is so crap they have to give it a huge unfair advantage. I'm sure standing starts would work if every car was Sophie AI but probably too taxing on the console.

It's surely not too taxing, if they can run 19 rolling start Sophy grids (you can in custom race) then standing starts shouldn't be an issue. They probably just haven't trained the AI to be good at them yet.

Even the regular AI is a decent race with grid starts or close rolling starts. GT7 could've been a lot more fun but they seem insistent on the rolling chicanes kind of "race". It's more of a glorified time trial with one or two fast cars at the front.

I do...

Yes, Road Atlanta is notorious for this, as I just made a test race to give some proof to the @Yourgamescrap that it does happen..
Yes. Alsace is one!
See below for Road Atlanta... I do not turn with controller on exiting and as soon as Autodrive relinquishes control I cross that pit line and get penalty shortly after...

Ah yes, the "I created an account on GTPlanet just to be able to vent my frustrations by opening a new thread about how bad the game is, then vanish into thin air" guy.
