That's it. I'm not going to wait till December. I'm going to mod my ps2 and buy a cheap secondhand PS2 to play the PAL version of the game online. (you can't go online with a modded ps2)
Allow me to disagree on that....
It is actually CMR4 that SUXXX.... (Damage on cars remains the only fun of the series... ok, maybe CMR2 was good overall...)
In addition, I think that DRIV3R doesn't support any wheel.
Well the PS2 is in the box at the moment, so i'm not really worried at all about when it will be released. Gives me more time to save up for a decent 21" (Sony) TV (the monitor i usually have the PS2 hooked up to blew up on Sunday).
But to do that i suppose i need some sort of income. *Ponders*
December 5 for PAL make sence. There has never been a world wide release of Gran turismo. The PAL version is always a month or 2 later than the Japan edition. I was expecting this and hopefully it will only be Dec 5th.
GT4 has all ways been planed with a simultaneous world wide relaese date.
Why does a release date of December 5 on the French Sony PS2 site change that?

You CAN go online with a modded PS2... I know this coz mine is modded. Aslong as your game is an original (or patched), you'll be fine. However, you cant go online with a japanese game when youre on a PAL console (even if modded) EXCEPT if you use Xlink Kai, a ps2 tunnel (www.teamxlink.co.uk)
Kai works by connecting your ps2 to your pc, then tricking it into thinking its connected to another ps2, for lan play (hence, no region check). Ive been playing Timesplitters2 online on it, witch only has the network option, and no official online option.
So, looks like i'll be playing the japanese version on Xlink untill the PAL version releases
Don't believe those crappy French sites. Ok this one states december 5th and others state october ( jeux video.com / jeuxvideo.fr / virtualdreams.fr ) . So which one should we believe ? NONE. Until we hear official words from Polyphony ...the release date is hopefully still november

i was just looking at pre-ordering the game & noticed thats what they are saying.
& if u think about it that is more or less november so could be the truth
guess we will just have to wait & see
there is always burnout 3 & juiced before gt4 anyhow
those 2 will keep me happy till then

the relase of GT you can not see in adwance. That is impossible. More likely, everybodi will be wrong. Somebody hears that, somebody this. Rumors and speculations I say. Probebly the relase date will be changing again and again and again. Maybe it's only an advertaising trick. Games like GT are unpredictible.
I went to rent a PS2 game on monday at my game renting shop and the store owner (who also happens to sell games) told me he was expecting the game on November 21st and that I could preorder my copy right now. So if he is right, the official release date for GT4 in North America seems to be Nov. 21.

I like colinmcrae too but they didn't make a good compatibility with the wheel. [IMO]
Agreed, I don't think we'll likely to get a release date until around 1 or 2 months before it comes out. If I remember rightly GT3's release date was not confirmed until very close.
Release dates are seldom set in stone until a game goes "Gold"
