Thoughts on Series Races

I've got one more series to complete the Amatuer League, and I got to thinking about my approach to these series. Do you even run the last race if you don't need it to win? After winning the car of your choice using the save trick, do you go back and run the last race after you've been awarded the series trophy? One thing I've noticed is that once I've got a 10 race series won, by say the 8th race, my level of concentration really drops, and I have a tough time winning. Do you run a series four times to win each of the prize cars? So far, I've run them just once, winning the car I perceive to be the best of the four. I've also gotten in the habit of qualifying for each race; it reminds me of where the problem areas exist, and it never hurts to run from the front of the pack. So, what's your approach?

It all depends on what you're playing the game for. If you just want to fool around and get money, then you probably won't race the races you don't need to in a series. But most people play to get all cars and complete all tracks; the only way you can get 100% is to get a gold in all the tracks. But the way I play, I complete the series to race 7 or 8, then do the save/reload trick to get the car I want. If there are two or three cars I can only win through that series, I'll do it again until I've got the cars. Then later on I'll go back and fill in the blanks, using a car that'll make it challenging to do.

Wait till you get to the "Professional League" in the "Vitz race-route SS11".. and see how well you can qualify :nervous: ...a little hint: ride the rails!!

I usually did not complete each series beyond winning on points; at least not directly after. I then used those skipped or less-than-gold races as fill-ins when I only had a short time to play. I did make sure each level was 100% complete before moving on to the next level, though that's not really important.

ride the rails?

Winning fair is a greater achievement!

If you want 100% win ratio and completion in minimum days you run each and every race in the series and remember to have enough power upgrades to match the AI when they get power boosts at the latter races.
However when going for all prize cars after getting 100% completion I skip the last 3 or 2 races and use the save reload method.

Big hint: Drive better you big, fat cheat.

Yeah but Famine, you have to admit that Vitz race should be called the ****z race. I know I once said Pro FF was the hardest series, but no three races has ever encouraged more people throwing their controllers to the floor, threatening to kick their TVs' asses, cursing, spitting, yelling, and generally frightening anyone else in the room than the Vitzes.

And once you finally win, who the hell cares? You can't brag for long; it's a boring series run by boring cars, in this poster's opinion.

Wall riding is OK if you dont tell any one you do it.
Never claim a time when you have used wall riding. Just say you won by a close margin.
Never save a video and show people your wall riding.
Wall riding in low powered cars costs you more time as the friction is more than the car horespower can overcome. ( Vitz races.)
It is possible to get gold on S7 by running the walls at 3 corners. The "Skill" needed to hit the walls right and not get disqualified by the computer is harder than not using the walls.
Those Vitz AI cars in the Pro race at TT11 really get a big hike in peformance compared to the earlier races. Their tires seem to work a lot better than mine on this track.

Wait, the Vitz race... hard?? I won every event by at least 50 seconds... >_> Its jsut a matter of tunign the damn thing to rotate a bit, and being able to deal with a somewhat unstable car.

SS11 was a pain though... just the qualification anyhow...

I usually just do the whole race, and then leave it at that, I just started using the save trick, and thats just to fill in the cars I don't have, or to avoid getting more that I already have...

And I actually enjoy driving the Vitz.. kinda is its own challange, plus its fun to destroy better cars with it when playing with friends...

Friend: "WTH, you are racing a Pink car??"
15 minutes later...
Friend: "YOU SOB, you gotta be cheating with that thing or something.. its PINK, ITS CRAP!!" >_>

So, you're saying, that you actually won the Vitz SS11(series race), without hitting the rails, nor cheating?? 🤬
Why do you people lie 👎 just to let others think that you're better?? 👎 👎 👎 👎 :ouch:

That race is winnable by 30-50 seconds when you know how without wall riding.
Car set up and driver skill is the key. Last time I did this race my total time was 22 minutes and 36 seconds and a winning margin of 32 seconds starting from last place.

Famine will surely have something to say to proove you wrong.

Cheating... yuck. Ruins any good game instantly. I see no point in a game if the challange is removed.

The Vitz race SS11 is doable, I did it, without wall riding or any of that crap. If I had a shark port, I'd show ya too damnit :p

Oh wow. I really wish you'd been here in person and said that to my face.

Check my replays, zeeb. Check the replays of anyone who posts replays. There are hundreds and hundreds of genuine drivers on this site (and elsewhere) who can - and have - won races without relying on driving off-track and up against barriers. I'm not the best driver in the world and I can win the Vitz race at SSR11 without pinging a single wall by well over a minute. In fact, do a search for Vitz, SSR11 and my username to find the settings I used.

Just because you have so little skill you have to rely on using every dirty trick in the book doesn't mean everyone else does. It's called "personal pride". Look it up, numbnuts.

Lose the smilies already... they're not helping. And telling folks that they are lying is not a great way to make friends, either.

The Vitz series is fun. I won the SS11 race easily with no cheating like wall rubbing or cutting (not that there's any real cutting you can do). As others have said, it's a matter of knowing how to drive and how to dial in the car.

At SSR11, stay off the walls completely. Even a small touch costs you many seconds in a low-powered car.

And before you freak out on me, let me tell you that I am securely in the bottom group of the Weekly Race Series and I almost never podium in any online racing event I enter. I am the first to say I'm not fast. I'm about half way through golding my licenses and I had to work hard to do the easy half.

So in summary - lose the attitude, and learn to drive.

I know I always respond favorably to being called numbnuts. Holding my breath waiting for Vitz settings :)
I can't hold my breath any longer, i'm about to...........faint
JB23, are you having a hard time with the Vitz too?? ((SS11 is the only one that's really....bothering me) :ouch:

Didn't look too hard then, I guess.

280hp is the maximum (sort of - 284 is actually the most, but you need to have a broken-in car).

Actually, it's 294 hp, after oil change :dopey: Broken in?? Should i drive it easy for the first 1000miles?? In SS11, right after the first corner and chicane(spell??), i'm already over 3 seconds behind........, and you actually won by over a minute??? Do you have the video?? i'd like to see it and....... learn!! 👍

Learning is good.

Have you ever actually comnpleted this race? Because, if you use T2 tires and pit once (or not at all, I don't have my notes at hand) I believe the other cars will pit twice, the second time near the end of the race. If you're not already in the lead by then you can motor on past because SS R11 pits take a long time.

Don't give up halfway through.

Break-in merely requires the car to be driven 186 miles. That's it.

I don't have a video - what with it being a long race to video - and a replay wouldn't be of much use to you as you have no way to upload it and no way of getting your NTSC PS2 to read it once you didn't.

My best ever lap of SSR11R in a Yaris/Vitz is 2'00.7 (on T8 Supersofts). My fastest lap in the race the last time I did it was apparently 2'07.412. Do some free runs and try to get close to that. If you're in low 2'1x.xxx, you'll win eventually.

And note that I used T3 front tyres and T5 rear tyres - not T2s all round.

It's funny, one time, the first 2 cars pitted at the end of lap 4 and, the others at the end of lap 5. Howcome, the first 2 cars, didn't pit again at the end of lap 8 nor 9??? :grumpy:

you suck then....

(this series isn't very hard, especially with T2s, no pits and starting from 6th. The car doesn't evne need all the HP upgrades either.)

Different tire strategies. Even the AI does this, though not so good.
