PS3 pads are absolutely awful for driving games. If hadn't been able to get a dfgt, GT5 wouldn't have been on the list, full stop.

I bought a DFGT a few days after GT5 came out. WOW! What a difference...definitely recommend it, especially since G27 is so hard to come by these days.

Agreed. Way back on GT1, I didn't have a wheel, and I wasn't really impressed. It wasn't until GT3:A-spec that I got a wheel and picked up that game used, that I really got hooked. Now, I can't stand playing driving games without a wheel. :)

OK, I bought the DFGT .....Kinda wierd using it....tell me i will get better..lol

do I need to set it up or anything? button setting suggestions?

On average 3-5sec faster a lap with the DFGT wheel and my tires last longer. Down side, it makes you want to drive the same way in real life especially if you just got off the game.

+1 it definitely does. Recently I drifted through a corner with my car :D
Not completely intentional I must add, it was caused by pushing a bit too hard (caused by playing a lot of GT5). I did slide through real smooth though!

No, you are good to go everything is already setup for gt5.

I'm going to go for the Driving Force GT from Logitech, the one with the little GT logo in the middle. I don't mind it being a bit pricey because i want the full sim experience. I'll wait until Jan because in Novembrer I already bought PS3 and a projector (just for the release of GT5) and I think my landlady will be bitching about the rent!
The only thing I need now is for my wife to take a really long holiday and leave me at home in peace to get my grind on!

I'm thinking real hard about buying a DFGT. I'm only worried about mounting it on something. Would one of those wooden fold out tables work?

Was wondering the same thing. What to mount it on?

On second thoughts, maybe compact computer desk unit with the legs hacked off and the wheel mounted on the pull-out keyboard tray. I may try this in future as I have a spare desk laying around.

Fold out tables aren't going to cut it. You need something with grip; especially if you have a hardwood floor. Remember there is going to be a lot of pressure pushing the wheel and pedals forward. I use a small side/coffee table, wedged in front of my TV cabinet, so that it doesn't move, and a carpenter's level I had laying around for in front of the pedals, to keep them from moving. It's not pretty, but it's effective, and I can easily move things around when I'm not playing GT.

My DFGT came in this morning. This thing is a game changer!!

I suck mightily right now, I'm about 6-7 seconds off my average times, but my god is it a blast. I've never played anything quite like it before. My Fiance's father is a custom carpenter specializing in furniture and cabinets so he is making me a stand and mount that should be done this weekend.

I'll post some pics when I get it all set up and done!!!

get a wheel ... and you'll end up buying a playseat too ... believe me i know :sly:

Absolutly----
And you'll probably start getting other racing games like Dirt and Need For speed etc... The wheel does take it to a completely different level of enjoyment! (I have a G-27 and am very happy)
