Hate to be a pest but tonight will be my first attempt at an on-line PCars event and I have some basic questions so I can make it into the room and not mess anything up.

1) How do you find/enter the room? Search for it under the On-Line options and join that way?...that's the only option I could figure out having just checked it out. Can I find Grimm via PS4 friends and join that way?

2) Seems blueteeth are not a mic option for the PS4 (shocking) so Parcells will not have chat this evening if that's even allowed??? Is it? Unless that crazy talking PS4 controller substitutes as a mic maybe that's an option I haven't a clue. If it is a mic you'll want to confirm so I either turn if off during the race or tell me where the mute button is so everyone's not hearing my surround sound.

3) Any other peculiarities you think I should be aware of please share. I'm a racer not a techie and not a very good one at that which reminds me I still haven't practised yet DOH!

1 - I will send an Invite to all drivers. Its the only way for you to find the room.
2 - We can force mute the mics like you can in gt6. That said, we do run with mics on and they have everyone mute their mics during qualifying and races.
3 - Be sure to get in the lobby early so we can do the connection checks. Once you are good to go, you head to turn one like normal before each race

Good racing tonight gentlemen.

@Schmiggz - Sorry you missed out. I looked for you before I started the qualifier and had noticed you on line for over 30 mins but not playing project cars when the time came to start it up. Unlike GT6, once the qualifier starts, you cant restart the session.

Reminder to all to be sure you are in the lobby by 8:45 so we can start on time and get through the connection checks quickly. I hate seeing drivers miss the race like this.

Thanks

My bad, sorry.

My first crack at on-line PCars racing and it was everything I was hoping it would be. Granted the fast car is not Parcells forte and I despise the Monza track but I knew that going in so it was all about checking it out and it was a good time, guaranteed to be better when we're all driving the same car.

Will have to figure out what mic options are available for PS4 but can you offer answers to the below...

1) Do most or all or no one tune these cars? Doesn't matter just curious as Parcells went in with a default tune last night so curious if I was lacking because of skill or lack of practise and/or tuning neither of which I put any effort into for last night's races.

2) Will have to play around with the pit stop setups cause I can't figure that out yet at all...
a) How do you set your starting fuel load level?? Couldn't see this option anywhere so wondering if you always start off with a full tank or not.
b) I finally did figure out how to save and default a pit strategy to use but could not figure out how to decrease the amount of fuel to put in...the slider would not go below what I thought was some odd 600 value but based on taking 60 liters of fuel during my pit stop at Monza (was going to run out of gas on the last lap) I suspect I missed the period in the 600 figure I saw. Regardless i could not move the slider to the left for less fuel which seems dumb.

@Parcells2
To answer your questions (i'm not an expert)

1) From what I've seen, default tunes work pretty well on the GT3 cars. Some of the fastest guys I've raced against use basically default tunes. Practice is the most important thing, followed by skill. Yes, tuning is going to make some difference depending on your driving style. My tune is mostly just a couple of setting changes that I have become comfortable with. The only thing I usually alter from track to track is the front and rear downforce and gearing. At Monza, obviously, I took as much downforce off as possible to gain top speed. There are not a lot of gearing options, but again at Monza I wanted to make sure I was geared toward top speed instead of acceleration.

2a) You set your starting fuel in the tuning setup screens (the same place you would change all the other car settings). There is an option for starting fuel and qualifying fuel.

2b) Pit Strategy is weird (broken in my opinion). It won't let you move the slider to an amount lower than you currently have in the tank. If you set the slider during practice when you have a very low tank, it will then allow you to save it that way. However, during the race when you pit, you can edit it at that time and move the slider to the left as much as you need. It will move as far left as the amount of fuel you currently have in the tank. So if you needed 5 more gallons and you currently have 10 gallons you are then able to move the slider to 15 gallons. Basically, if I am pitting during a race, I always edit my strategy and make sure the tires and fuel are what I want. I would recommend practicing this in an offline race.

For the WRRC in season 1 and 2, we will not require a pit stop. It's just too unpredictable right now.

I too pretty much just adjust down force and gearing and perhaps tire pressures if the tire get too hot. Other than that, its pretty stock.

as for the cars, its was good and bad for me last night. The McLaren is a beast on the handling tracks like Brno and Sonoma but I really struggled at Monza. It lacks the top end speed even with minimal down force. I also had a hard time on corner exit in the two chicanes in 1st gear.

Next season we will all run either the Gianetta G40 junior or the Renault Clio Cup. Should be some good races next season.

Do most or all or no one tune these cars?

I try to tune my cars. Here is a site with some cars already tuned, just need to find a tune that is close to your driving style and then make some tweaks. Good starting point.

the fuel setting is in the same spot as the tuning, believe last page on top, gives you the option for track and qualify.

Pit strategy has some bugs and have not revisited for a while.

Race 2
Track - Road America

As we only have 15 active drivers this season, we will not need KOQ.
Below are the current Active Drivers with provisional entries into the Main Event. The below listed drivers (not listed in BOLD below) need to confirm their intent to race this week by replying in this topic (no later than 8:00pm eastern on Monday 8/10/15) with a simple post that they plan to race this week (Example - I plan to race this week). I will update the list accordingly.

If there are less than 16 drivers confirmed, we will not need KOQ this week and will open the Lobby to all drivers @ 8:30pm Eastern. If there are more than 16 confirmed drivers that week, we will implement the original KOQ process and only the top 10 Confirmed drivers will be locked in and all other drivers will need to go through KOQ as usual.

If your looking for some good news, take a look at the proposed update 3.0 changes. Very very long list of updates.

this is REALLY great news and will help improve our options going forward. look for using pit stops in season 3 since it will still be a few weeks to get them in place

That said, I hope the drive button being locked is really fixed along with power cycle my wheel to restore ffb will no longer crash the game.

There are some other good things like not being dq'd for running out of fuel after the race is over along with being able to change cats during replays.

so many good things.

@Paulo Fonseca - welcome to the series. We only have one more week left for the season so if want to race next week, please pick an available car from the list in the second post in this thread, I'll get you set up.

Very, very interesting news. I'm happy to see that a lot of little aspects that i didn't like in the game are getting fixed.
Better telemetry regarding tire wear, the replay sistem and watching race was a must. Like i said before, as long they keep working to make Pcars better, we're happy.

Sakitto GP. This track like to eat tires, especially the rears. I tried over a half dozen different tunes and all of them over cooked the rears. Tried soft spring, hard springs, slammed to the ground, max height, played with the dampers, fast, slow bumps and rebound, brake balance, LSD, aero, and what ever else I could through at it. I even tried medium slicks and hard slicks, nothing.

Anyone else practice this track yet? Were you able to keep the back tires from over heating? I am open for suggestions.

I have not had a chance to get on track yet other than the very first test session in a couple cars prior to the season. I didn't try the Ruf at this track though. Have you played with tire pressures?

Appreciate the suggestion Grimm. Forgot to mention I did try tire pressure. Started out in the high hundreds and finished as high as 240. Still had temps. in the 230-240 . Even changed the time of day when testing.

Then tried the tune I plan to use for Road America where my tires are in the golden range of 180- 200ish. However on Sakitto the back tires were blistered only after three laps.

Could be the game itself, just as we have with GT6 and Appricot hill. We all know this track eats tires as well.
