And there we go again, skipping a week/track in the season because he said so....unbelievable
See its tone like that that isn't warranted. CleanRacer understands and worded it well. Im writing quick replies on my phone when I can sneak it and as you can see Rinsky hasn't been aware of these messages yet otherwise he'd chime in too.

Believe me we don't want to piss anyone off. Later today hopefully we can have a full proper discussion ok?

Until then lets just leave it as I can't properly respond

It's stated in the main post.
"We will be doing 4 week Championships in the 86 Racing Series".

In the unfortunate circumstance that a race week is canceled due to issues beyond our control and a make up day cannot be established then that week will get skipped to stay on schedule. The overwhelming majority was against the make up race being today and that leaves no other option but to skip the race completely and move on to the next week.

Yes some months will have 5 Tuesday's in the calendar year but it's not stated anywhere that we are racing on those extra days.
Most of the time there will be an off week for this Series during those months especially when a holiday or something else important falls on a week during that month that requires people to be away from the game.
Other times it will be used to hold the All Stars events that we have been planning to host a few times throughout the year.
The rest of them will just be a week off to give people a break so we are not racing 52 weeks out of the year.

I have been very vocal about my wife having our son on Oct 31st of this month and when this schedule was made it was already known and planned that one of the creators and host of this Series will not be anywhere near this game from Oct 30th and the next 5 or 6 days afterwards. Sorry but real life doesn't take a backseat to this game.
And it's not only do my prior arrangements that have been known for the past 9 months but the fact Halloween is Wednesday October the 31st and many people with or without small children will have plans during this entire week. Again it's a holiday week and this Series will always do its best not to race on those weeks.

For all those reasons the Autodrome Lago Maggiore – West will be skipped and racing resumes on Oct 23: Red Bull Ring - 15:15 for the final race of this month's championship.

If for some reason the unfortunate circumstance comes up again that causes the race to be cancelled and it falls on a month with 5 Tuesdays and no holidays then we will use that extra week for the make up race.

Good thing we got this at the top of a new page so everyone can read it as they scroll through to the new posts.

Thank you for the well thought out explanation of circumstances regarding this subject. Much better than shooting from the hip just to post a response. I plan to be full time in November and look forward to racing with all competitors in Lobby 2.

I am truly sorry we have to miss a race. Nobody wants to race anymore than I do because I don't get the opportunity that most of you do. I have this Series, the once a month Gr.4 endurancerace race and the once a month WhiteFlight1 Gr.3 race and that's it. Not a lot of racing compared to most so it really was disappointing to cancel the race completely.

I have been using this time wisely though and I've now switched over to using a manual transmission and turned a 1:52.368 at Red Bull Ring. Two seconds faster than I could with the automatic transmission here. However it's not without some growing pains as I still miss a gear because I'm not fully use to the new button layout on the DS4. But its good practice until I get my wheel.

Now you're going to get all fast and what not. Damn!! Lol

Well that's yet to be determined. I was able to run a 1:52 with an automatic yesterday. Keep in mind these times are keeping two tires on the racing surface and not using the runoffs.

I have noticed that using a manual makes the car rotate through the corner more than an automatic and gained some speed there. Also I can get a better drive out of the corners with the manual because the automatic will sometimes stay in a higher gear losing speed and time. But for the most part there is not a world of difference between the two at Red Bull Ring.
But our first two locations there was definitely a bigger gap.

That is exactly what I was saying about manual vs auto except I said the cars are more stable with manuals than automatics and the reason I was considering taking a break until Fanatec can get my wheel issues solved. I not only have double up and down shifts but I sometimes get phantom shifting and my tuning menu often pops up on sharp corners with wheel rotation and when that happens all of buttons function only for adjusting my wheel settings. At the moment I feel as if I almost need a co-driver or if I could train an octopus to drive so it's possible I could keep from becoming task saturated while trying to continue racing. I often dont know which priority I should address first during the race, take care of the engine bouncing off of the limiter while trying to keep the car from spinning on corner entry cause the rear wheels are locked or try to return my wheel back to the settings I started the race with so I can try to keep the car from spinning on corner entry. :banghead::grumpy:

Everything you say here is true. Glad that you will be reaping the benefits.
Ultimately, for me, any driving game is much more immersive when using manual transmission. Sadly, GTS has poor clutch implementation.

If your wheel still works on different settings then I would try that and see how it fairs. Even if you have to drive with a controller for awhile its still not as bad as not racing at all. You can still be competitive.
If your playing with the DS4 then I would try to be consistent with it lap after lap before I would try to be fast. Being faster comes automatically with being consistent. Plus with this Series one bad lap can make it difficult to make that ground back up. So that's what I would do.

Track Boundaries

Track Boundaries

Red and white rumble strips are the traditional track boundary. At the Red Bull Ring there is a green paved area before the gravel pits. Putting all four wheels wide past this green area is out of bounds.

Exceptions: Turns 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8
There are many turns with the green paved area and yellow sausage curb along the rumble strips. For these turns the track boundary will be extended to include the green paved area and yellow sausage curb. The sausage curb is a natural penalty for running wide so try to keep your outside wheels on the green paved area.

The following photos show what is considered legal at these turns:

Turn 2

Turn 4

Turn 5

Turn 7

Turn 8

If you go out of bounds simply lift for a split second and continue on. That is enough to negate any advantage gained.

what about the inside of turn 8? That is where I felt like I almost cut the corner a few times in practice.

It will be easy to go wide at turn 2 as that's a tricky corner. I feel we need to make sure everyone lifts if they do so as to not gain time by going wide and keeping momentum down that straight. It will happen. :-)

Pictures won't load? I copied them in-game to my flash drive and then dragged them from the folder to the text box and asked them to be shown full size.

Do they show up in this post? I didn't go through and order them but you guys should get the idea of what I mean when you see them. The second one down is an example of being too far inside on Turn 8 and is out of bounds.

Sorry, i’m slow.
Not clear to me what the boundry for the last turn is.

Must keep a tire touching the red/white? Tire must touch yellow sausage? At what point have we gone too far by mistake and are required to lift?
I just want it to be clear. I have no intention of cutting it, but it happens by mistake sometimes.

There's the red/white rumble strip, then that green area with just white strips, then the large red painted area. The red painted area is track limits.

Driving over the sausage strips is not out of bounds? Cant imagine there would be time to find driving over the parking stops.:eek:

Exactly. It's certainly not where you want to be, but calling that OOB would make it that much tougher on everyone and after last week I want to lighten up a bit.

So it's not to often I get to watch other classes of Motorsports just because it's really never on TV.
Right now I'm watching BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) at Silverstone as they are actually showing it on TV. You would think I was watching a lower DR race in Sport Mode the way they wreck, abuse track limits, divebomb, push and spin each other out of the way. If racing is a no contact Sport someone obviously forgot to tell these guys. To top it all off nobody gets a penalty.

That’s why BTCC is great. I wish they put their full races on YouTube like Global Rallycross used to so I can actually follow it.

BTCC is definitely the series I dream of racing in if I won the lottery.

Yeah, it's pretty awful. And the cars are attrocious.

I just wasn't expecting to see so much contact or a complete disregard for any kind of Racing Etiquette or penalties for some of these incidents.
I expect some contact because regardless of what people say it is just a part of racing and bumping, touching and rubbing (is racing) is all part of it but these guys took it to a whole different level.

Oh after that race they showed the Lamborghini Trofeo at Laguna Seca. It was nice to kick back and finally see these races being shown on TV.
I so hope we get Laguna Seca next month. Then on my way to work I see a BMW with Ohio plates with a Nürburgring decal on his back window.

I agree with you there that BTCC is probably the most extreme asphalt series for not penalizing that sort of thing. Everyone thinks NASCAR is full contact all the time but that’s mostly only on short tracks and road courses, most weeks everyone is respectful and manage to not touch each other. BTCC it’s every week. It’s mostly jarring because the other European series are so strict. WTCC and Supercars and most of the other touring car series (not DTM, but that’s becoming more of a sports car series than touring car) can be pretty rough at times as well, though. That’s just how full-bodied racing is. Racing is a contact sport.

What’s wrong with BTCC cars? They’ve always been my favourite race cars (especially the Levorg, since wagons rule) and I love that they actually let different drivetrains race together and keep them the same as the production car. No FWD BMWs or RWD Focuses. It’s only a matter of time until all of the touring car series get swallowed up by TCR, though.
