Congrats to everybody for the latest speeds ..
expecially for RX8 LM (i'm @ 297 :()

last week i was "busy" in Test Course but for 0-1000m race in my Board
and i haven't tried any car, but yesterday i improved my speed
with a Road car .... i'm close to DRIFT GOD ... :D

I'll edit this post with thE picture :sly: (this Evening)
EDIT
Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Turbo (J) '95
325.68 Mph

for 0.05 Mph ... :banghead:

Ciao
I-R

bummer. i thought this mini speed comp was on the rx7 lm but after some sleep i read it's the rx8 instead. in the 7 i did 298 last night. now i'll give the 8 a go.
good thing is that with my (delayed) 300 list entry for the lotus 350 i got my 10th entry which means i am 4% part of darkelite's little gtp club.
EDIT just tried it and also one of my all-time gt4 favorites, the rx7 type-r. the racecar gave me 298.x and the type-r 287.x. i guess i still have a lot to learn. the type-r is the first car i saw in which you can set the nitro to 100.

I've re-uploaded my FTO video to YouTube to fix the audio syncing issues. I also have a new Chaparral 2D video up, showing a slightly higher 'first gear' speed of 305.10mph (also has correct sound now). I'll take the old one down shortly and edit/fix the old posts accordingly.

Chaparral 2D (1st Gear) @ 305.10mph [video] [YouTube]

Finally I have a new record...

Mercedes CLK-GTR Race Car '98 @ 332.08mph [video] [YouTube]

Funnily, someone commented on my FTO video, claiming that they got 340mph. I laughed a bit. :)

And BAH HUMBUG! Someone's already rated my CLK-GTR record a measly 1 star. :(

heh, now that I got new PS2, I think I'm back in chase. I just need to find a good target, since most of capable 6-cyl cars have been used.

the Grinch
it is one of the few cars that I still use custom-tuned individual gear ratios for. The others are the Esprit, TS020 and McLaren F1 GTR.
Hmm, that's interesting, my McLaren didn't have individual gear modifications. Maybe it should have done :p :sly:

Deathwish
Maybe it's because I edited them a little in PS so you could actually see the speed..
Don't do that, by the way. Editing the pictures is a big no-no, even for enhancement purposes only.

Anyways, well done to all those with new/improved speeds, and thanks again to MasterStorm for mirroring the Merc speed too, up that goes.

Will we see a battle for Mercedes dominance start up? I'd considered taking that record for a while, I knew it wasn't out of reach. So if this little duel fizzles out, I might jump into it :)

Heh, I mirrored the Merc speed, then wen't out and beat it. Gives me my 3rd individual car record (maybe I should make my signature now). I'd definitely like to see some challenge on this one though, so jump to it DE!

Now I just need an extra 0.13mph on both the Chaparral 2D and RX-8 LM...

I'll make a challenge on the R8 record, just as soon as I win the 24 hour races for it! :(

It has indeed been a while, in fact I was just thinking it over myself... Over two months since I've held a record, and yes I have been very busy! :) I have thought a lot about fighting back for Audi supremacy, though, don't think you're safe :sly:
One day I'll do it :p Just wait until my holidays start! 👍

i just went 336.56 mp in the minolta 88c-v. with some nos.

i dont know if i did some sort of weakened wheelie trick though.
set ride height to lowest, springs softest, bounce damper softest and rebound strongest. on both ends.
the idea behind this was to get the downforce (which also was set to lowest on both ends) pushing the car a little bit nearer to the road all the time. ride compressed shocks, if you want. i think theres no bottoming out, and you loose a bit of air resistance too.

it looked like the front chassis was floating up and down all the time a bit, though.
but i couldnt see any wheels leaving the road in the replay...

anybody wanna give it a try?

As long as the wheels stayed down, it's fine. You can use the PhotoMode in Replay Theatre to zoom in on the wheels and check, though from what you tell of the setup, I think you stayed down. It's pretty much a given with the 88C-V that for high speed runs, the chassis bounces up and down.

Congratulations on the speed! 👍

Are you going to post a screenshot to get onto the leaderboard?

you may laugh now, but atm i can think of three ways of getting my screen in here. all of those would require me to reinstall my capture card, which doesnt fit in my box in the summer, because it would heat up to much since airflow gets bad when all that cards are crammed into the pc

1)vcr it and capture it
2)hi8 it and capture it
3)directly capture the ps2 output

anybody got a digicam handy :) ?

but in the end i dont really care... im gonna look up the minolta record and fiddle about a bit maybe..
what im interested in... i cant imagine it correctly... how do the lsd settings affect high speed attacks?

I wouldn't have thought somthing in a PCI slot would affect the temperature that much (as in most case designs, air generally travels upwards though the case, thus avoiding that area, and the actual card itself would make negligible difference on the ambient temperature). Every PC is different though, so fair enough. Personally I use an Arial/Co-axial adapter on my Playstation 2's output, and put that directly into my capture card. Digital camera is also allowed.

The 88C-V record is 366.31mph (full listings here). Generally I find that LSD settings only make a marginal difference.

the geforce fan sits right above the last free slot....

and... what the heck? where the f did he get that last 30mphs ?
id say gearing, but hey, what do i know :D

Well, your aerodynamics approach isn't the best possible (for the 88C-V), and even things such as camber and toe angle make a difference, so you really have to fine tune a lot to make the high speeds (but I wont give things away and ruin the challenge for you). Stick with it though, expermient a lot, and you'll get there eventually. :)

there too, but suspension settings has also surprisingly big impact on top speed. I presume it applies on racecars just like it applies on road cars. but, pushing roadcars beyond 300mph is bit more rewarding, because in most of the cases, the chassis isn't engineered for top speed.

I had never heard of the "wheelie glitch" until i read from this thread
so today i took my GT-one and messed with the suspension until i was able to do a really extreme wheelie.
I was able to hit 380 mph!!!
going through the bend was a real pain, coming out of it i had to use the wall to direct me down the straight
it was pretty insane
what is the maximum speed acheived when using a wheelie?

anyway, i still havent been able to get more than 330 w/o the wheelie glitch, but im workin' on it

I got 525.79 km/h (326.78mph) in the 88C-V!!! I have no cameras, but...I can give settings. And also, its no wheelie trick, the tires never left the ground in the replay. So heres the settings.

Nitrous - 70
Stage 4 Turbine
Suspension: Spring Rate - 10.0/10.0
Ride Height - 55/55
Stabilizers - 7/7
Transmission: 5th - 0.885
6th - 0.734
Final - 2.995
Auto - 25
Downforce - 40/53

So there you go. I stayed in 5th gear through the whole left turn until the exit, which i shifted to 6th and pressed the nitrous until the end. So please PM me if I'm in the club.

wow opendriver19a, now I have a new rival =D

Believe me, we've all been there.

MasterStorm
even things such as camber and toe angle make a difference
Wait until you really start fine-tuning, you'll learn that those are some of the most important ones! ;)

And let's not discuss use of the wheelie glitch here. Also try not to ask questions that have been asked a hundred times before, or double-post. We have plenty of posts already.

Sorry, what, Opendriver has a rival who isn't on the leaderboard?

after so much talk on the chapparal 2d i decided to give it a try.
all in just one gear and with no nitro.
got to 300.54 after a few tries.
so that's #11 for me.
i might try lateron with more gears :dopey:
EDIT so i did immediately and after fiddling with gear & downforce i got to
305.37
in all 3 gears but i't my personal no-nitro record so i'm happy.
dono if i find the extra 3mph for the list record, but i cant upload vids anyway so i dont mind.

EDIT proof uploaded.
