Hehe, I didn't think you'd take long, Toronado! Great run! 👍

Leaderboard Updated for the fifth time today, which I believe is a new record! Also, the same record has now changed hands three times in one day, which may also be a first :)

Keep on going, guys, this is great! :D

Ah, that is the curse of the Esprit. As it always has been, if anyone beats my record with the pinnacle of Britishness, I sit in front of my PS2 until I beat them. And don't move at all. Granted, in this case it was basically "lower 5th gear," but still. And, Masterstorm? Watch out. I'm in full "custom tuned gear ratios" mode now.

So go get it! 👍

It's like those scenes in adventure films where they finally get the relic but unleash a monster in doing so!
Don't worry too much. It is a very expensive and time consuming process. I usually go through 3-4 different cars (I usually put 800-1000 miles on each car before disposing of it) and spend a full week per car make. It does pay off in the end, like in the Pescarolo '03, Esprit 350, Toyota 7 and Jaguar XJR-9. And since it's all exclusively transmission work, my suspension adjustment settings occasionally leave something to be desired, which took another week to tune for the Pesky '03.

Ive reached 470 km/h (hence the username) in the Cadillac CIEN. Put NA stage on it and put the gear ratio to 25, and added Nitrous, all the way to the power end setting. At about 380 km/h on the Test Course I let the NOS jet my car to 470 km/h (300 mph=480 km/h). I needed the other cars ahead of me so I slowed right down and caught them up at over 350. I jammed R1 at 380 and reached 470. It only lasted a few seconds as the trumendous air resistance and the short but powerful supply of NOS only threatened to hurl me into the air. 465, 450, I slowed down to about 390 but the other cars did not overtake me... :dopey: Sadly I cannot show you any proof as we don't have a video camera or anything. :(

So you got the Ford GT to 300mph! Congrats, MS!

Lots of new posts and speeds lately...I gotta dust off my GT4 and start making some more speeds...!

Hehe, that's why I'm a little worried about trying an Esprit myself... I'd never rest until I held a patriotic record! :dopey:

Yeah, you have! Get your foot back down to the floor, pilot! :p

Go for it I-Runner, get your name all over the Leaderboard :sly:

No, I can't be bothered to format Toronado's quotes right now... :indiff: :)

I thought you might just have something for us, Toronado... Nice job! :)

If you'll excuse one more, then... :pMerci, et j'ai étudié le français pour quatre ans (et j'étudierai pour quatre ans dans le futur!), je ne utilise pas 'Google'! :) Où avez-vous appris le français?

Nice going MasterStorm, and I look forward to that video I-Runner! 👍

and congrats to all other who have new records!

You just need to keep continually improving your setup. Eventually you'll be able to intuitively get the very fast speeds. Most people tend to use an approach where you set the car up to 'almost wheelie', but without actually lifting any wheels. By that I mean you try to unload the front suspension as much as possible, and give good traction to the driving (ie: rear) wheels.

Anyway, the Lotus Esprit V8 and V8 GT records are back in my hands for now...

Lotus Esprit V8 '02 @ 310.61mph [screen] [video] [YouTube]
Lotus Esprit V8 GT '98 @ 305.18mph [screen] [video] [YouTube]

I'm thinking of letting this battle rest for ashort while though, to pursue speeds in some other cars.

Force-Feedback
So how exactly do you go 300+?

I think i may have done it in the clk gtr but not 320 or whatever someone got.
Any tips on setup?

Thanks in advance...

Like MasterStorm said, if you can get your car to the brink of wheelieng, without the wheels actually leaving the ground, that can help. However, by no means is this the only option. Infact, to be safe, try to stay away from the 'Near-wheelie' option to avoid mass scrutiny from abroad. GT4's Physics engine falls to pieces in this speed range (literally non-existent in the aerodynamic area:scared:), so obtaining a near-wheelie can be inconsistent. Think of that option as a last resort to obtain the absolute maximum for a car once all other aspects have been 'perfected':)

*NB: This is what i've found for RACE cars, not ROAD cars. There's a big difference!👍

Keep it up, Master:tup:!

Heh, thanks. Gives me 8 concurrent individual car records, a new record?

I have no idea about the older history of the leaderboard. :dunce:

Today started bad for me ... i've lost the pictures
