I'm always amazed by how much some of our less-established (but very skilled) tuners are ready to give away to newcomers :p you know I don't approve personally, but if you want to say it, go ahead, you don't know my top-secret tactics :sly: ;)

Anyway. I am now officially 'back on the map', the German exchange is over and so my house is my own again (to an extent, anyway) so, although I shall not reply to all of the posts made...
Oh, by the way Viper, I like your 'optimist' comment in your signature!

With all speeds except Crimson's latest, (I ran out of time :()...

It's probably looking for things you wouldn't think of initially, i'd never have thought of increasing downforce instead of decreasing it for example - I still don't understand it, and it's either a strange way in how it actually works, or just a quirk in the game. It would be interesting to know *how* people figured that one out :P

I haven't got any new speeds unfortunately. it seems that rest of the roadcars under V8/4000l class have too little power to do it, or then, the power is in the wrong end of powerband. ( damn you lazy yankees with your low-down grunt! afraid of pulling a muscle if you have to touch the stick?!)

Starting to clear out my backlog of new speeds accumulated after the VERY LOUD reminder from DE :scared:

Nissan R 390 340.53MPH, and
Mazda 787B 332.61MPH

Opendriver,

Does the change in your avatar mean that the race car is gone?

Nope. Its just in a bunch of pieces right now. Had to send the chassis to get straightened and get a new cage. But other than that, the only "new" thing I need is a seat, a wing 2 tires and a few nuts and bolts. Bring the total damage cost to around $700.

Not to mention the cost in chiropractic care (up ward of 500 bucks) im going to need to fix my back. Ill see if I can post a scanned X-ray I got last week.

All in all, im not going to be racing for a while, maybe a few months.

In other news (not bad) I just made my first 1,000 dollars. To bad I spent 95% of it.

As far as new speeds go, I will most likely not put up a new speed for a few days (that is if I don't get busy over the weekend)

Great speeds everyone!

glad you like my "new" sig D.E. 👍

you're right about the power/powerband problems of the other cars Leo, they simply seem to aren't able for 300mph.....

viper

Here's four more speeds - just the Session Speed screen as none are records.

I've spent enough time with all of these; in fact, the Mercedes was the first car I tried to get on the leaderboard, and after two months of fiddling with it it's time to move on.

Anyway, the following are:

Panoz Esperante 312.50MPH
Chaparral 2D 308.58MPH
Mercedes CLK GTR 333.49MPH
TVR Speed 12 311.06MPH

Surprised your done with the Panoz, I only think I ran about 5 runs before getting my current speed. The Chaparral 2D on the other hand doesn't surprise me. Once you get past 308.50mph, every 0.01mph takes huge amounts of fine tuning to achieve. I probably spent longer getting my speed with that car than any other.

Yeah, MS, I had a similar experience with the Panoz. I used probably ten runs to fine tune the gearing, NOS timing and downforce, and from that point on nothing made much of an impact.
After all of the experience gained from previous attempts - particularly our Speed 8 / R92CP competition - my baseline settings for the last five cars I've run yielded speeds within 1 MPH of the record right out of the box once I got the gearing nailed (except for the '03 Pesky, can't figure that one out). But after that every 0.10MPH is a struggle.

Indeed it is ;)

You could ponder that thought for every single tuning technique here :p

Your grammar is better than that, mate :sly:

I knew I'd get a backlog of speeds building up on me, so here goes with the update... Well done to 2078TM and Crimson, whose speed is also going up.

Leaderboard Updated
-Updated again, I've added a little marquee-styled update bar above the table to state the current status of the leaderboard. Like it?

not bad, old buddy, not bad at all.though, the text could be on bold, because when it's that thin, it hurts my eyes..

These are the last two cars that I've been working on the last few weeks. Good enough for second fastest with the Pesky '03 and third for the Minolta (would have been second till a few days ago - good going Crimson).

Pescarolo '03 336.99 MPH
Toyota 88C-V 358.33 MPH

Toyota Video

DE, the Toyota video stops immediately after the speed goes up on the screen - I spent 45 minutes trying to get a complete video up but Movie Maker keeps cutting off the last 10 to 30 seconds every time  This was the longest video I got. It nevertheless shows the complete run and the speed so I imagine it should be OK, if not let me know.

Your grammar is better than that, mate :sly:
Seems the old your/you're is something of an Achilles heel for me. It's not a problem if I'm thinking about it, but when typing quickly, it can sometimes creep in. Generally my grammar is quite good (or at least I think so), so you can forgive me this once.

I spent 45 minutes trying to get a complete video up but Movie Maker keeps cutting off the last 10 to 30 seconds every time
At least you can get 'something' out of Movie Maker. On this computer, it just claims that the source files no longer exist each time I try to export. I've had to switch to Windows Media Encoder instead.

It's annoying that I have to use an encoder at all, but unfortunately YouTube introduces sound syncing errors if I try to upload the format I capture in (as those who have seen my Minolta 88C-V run can verify), so I have to convert it to a different format.

Oh well... 👍

Im back on track to i drive everything drift(alot) time attack etc but going back on 300 mph ohw i wanted to get my pagani 310:P so thanks for the info guys now i can tune again well see ya soon :P

i have a new speed with the Zonda C12S 7.3, i'll put up a picture later today!

well done with the Pesky and the Minolta 2078TM 👍 and i'm very curious if you can max out the Pesky-speed *gg*

viper

Viper and Toronado - I'm done with the '03 Pesky - whatever additional speed is in it I don't know how to get.

MS - I don't know what the deal is with Movie Maker. This is the exact same setup I've used all along and now it is acting up. It shows that it has recorded something like 1'45" but when it put the clips up there is at most 1'30" of video.

Now I just have to figure out what car to try next :)

MS
so you can forgive me this once
Could if it was the first time I've spotted it :p :sly:

Nice work 2078TM, I'll get those watched and up this evening. As Toronado (smugly) says, you're going to love the Pescarolo now ;)

Interesting how until a couple of days ago, the first 88C-V was over 12mph ahead of the closest competitor! FormulaGT should be proud of it, after I watched all the work to get it there 👍
However, I've just noticed that by another Leaderboard glitch I've lose Crimson's 88C-V speed, so I'll resurrect that tonight as well. Thanks.

(Now I get to change my cool info-bar :dopey: )

DE

Certainly, well done 2078TM!👍 It's too bad that people think that there's no challenge using this car. All I can say is that if 300 is too easy, then why not try for 360+? There you will certainly find frustration & confusion for every ounce of a mph you seek. Hope to see you up in the 360's soon!:dunce:

FormulaGT

i'm surprised that noone's got the Ford GT or Saleen S7 yet, i got the Zonda to 297

Hope to see you up in the 360's soon!

FormulaGT, you have seen me in the 360's - just not in the Minolta

By the way, the video of your run is no longer available. If it's possible, and not too much of a bother, could you put it up again? I would love to see it - I just cannot imagine where another 8 MPH comes from

so, here is my Zonda speed: 305,10mph......nothing record-breaking, but not slow i think :sly:

viper

EDIT: @ lthiele there is a Ford GT on the leaderboard, driven by MasterStorm @ 302,49mph

You know why Saleen is banned, and if you don't just ask Toronado :p

And I have a fervent hatred of people calling the 88C-V only by its sponsor name :)

Well done to 2078TM for his two new speeds, and to Viper for his Zonda - will we see improvement from any (or all) of these? Hope so! :dopey:
Leaderboard Updated
I've added a second scroller underneath the first - the top one states the status of update, and the bottom states the last update. Please give me feedback on this, if it looks naff say so! I won't be at all offended, I don't think it look as nice as I'd like myself. If you don't like it, let me know. Thanks 👍

EDIT - How's this, I could move the second scroller to underneath the Leaderboard - would that be better?

DE

I think I shall move the second scroller to below the leaderboard, two side-by-side hurts the eyes a little and it looks rather strange when the timing goes out. Which it does
