I had a small idea just a few minutes ago;

Since there hasn't been much (if any) activity in the top 6 or so, I want to form something of a "sub-club" if you wish.

The clubs name, club 366, meaning you have legitimately gone over 366 MPH.

(minus you 2078TM, you make us all look bad and slow:sly:)

The only reason I say this is only a handful of people have archived this "hump" and some have exceeded it, including myself and I think that it would be kind of cool to have something like this

Your thoughts?

well done Ichi 👍 post up a pic of your session-screen!!

that would be a nice idea opendriver, then i wouldn't be number 11 anymore, i would be number 5 *gg*

Same as Crimson, although, being in the top 5 is a better club:D...
Sounds like a good idea providing it isn't seperated from the 300 Mile Per Hour Club.

I was just wondering If the videos of the top speeds were posted somewhere on the net? And if they are I would like to watch them:tup: If they are expired I understand as they have been verified already...I just want to see it for myself :dunce: and out of pure curiousity what controller was used ds2 dfp? (I know it shouldn't matter much but I am curious..)

ps sorry if this is a lame post...I didn't know where else to ask.

300.65Mph

Nice going, Ichi. Hope to to see a picture soon 👍

minus you 2078TM

Heyyyyy You're hurtin' my feelings

I was just wondering If the videos of the top speeds were posted somewhere on the net?

Many still are there; all of mine, I think all of MasterStorm's and many others. There currently is no one place to find them all. What I do is look to see the date of the record on the Leaderboard and then look around that date in this thread until I find the post with the video.

Just to simplify things, all of mine are on You Tube and my name there is also 2078TM.

DE, what do you think of either adding a small section to the leaderboard or creating a sticky with this info from whoever wants to provide it?

Congratulations Ichi, there's a Christmas present for you! Don't change anything, and get a run with the same setup at home 👍 👍 We don't want to waste this! :p

An interesting idea, Opendriver... You would be one to suggest it :sly: but I think the true credit goes to FormulaGT, a Group C beast among all your GT-Ones! ;)
I'll let you guys talk it over, but were you intending to make a club within the Club, kind of unofficially, or to annex the top of the Leaderboard?

That's my best method too :dopey:

I'm sorry to sound so dense here, but what 'info' are you referring to? The verification videos of past runs?

Merry Christmas to everyone, I hope you all have a great time

Sorry - yes, I was thinking of a list with links to video runs - which could be someone's You Tube collection or the individual post with the video.

Oooh, oooh - I just had another idea!! (you can tell me to shut up whenever you want :)). Assuming that it is possible, an additional column in the Leaderboard with a link to that particular run.

I'll also volunteer to gather and input the info if you think it would be worthwhile.

Seriously, though; format is, at this point, not a big deal. The question is whether, conceptually, this seems like a worthwhile thing to do -the details can get ironed out later.

Thankyou all!! 👍
I´m going back home tomorrow morning. About afternoon 6pm i will be at home.. and then i take the photo.
Ah, DE, be sure i will not TOUCH this car before the next run.. don´t want any risk of losing power :D

301??
WTF?

The big 301 number as fast as the car pop into my screen, to my big surprise, and extremely shy, give his place to the 300 number as i pass the endline.
That, sir, is a glitch that I have been meaning to investigate but haven't got around to doing so. The MPH screen during the run is .5MPH faster than the session record screen, with the session record screen being correct. Alternatively, the session record screen is wrong and the in game speed is correct. Makes me yearn for GT3 where it counted you speed as you did it.

It isn't :p
The program I'm currently using for editing simply cannot cope with the addition of a column, as it creates an entire new Leaderboard table code whenever it's updated.

From my point of view, it is of no use whatsoever - I have, obviously, seen all of the verification for all the runs :p but for you guys, I don't know, so it's up to you if you think it is worthwhile. Thanks for offering to correlate the information, that will be a big job... I thought I had a task when I first created the Leaderboard, some 50 speeds to go on it straight away!

I'll leave it open to you guys. I can do it if you like :)

EDIT -

It simply rounds mathematically to the nearest integer, which is all it displays - I imagine it was programmed that way deliberately, to work as accurately as possible rather than by 'achievement', so I wouldn't call it a glitch. Although, as far as we're concerned, GT3's system is more useful.

It should be Club 360 instead of Club 366, not only because it sounds better, but for the PAL users amongst us!

Well, that's my thoughts anyway. ;)

I was just wondering If the videos of the top speeds were posted somewhere on the net?
All of my high speed record runs are available on YouTube (I only keep the fastest speed with each car), along with 2078TM's.

http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=MasterStormGT
http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=2078TM

Between us, we hold a good majority of the individual car records, probably making our combined set of uploads the best resource for high speed GT4 videos. I also have a number of new runs ready to upload to mine at some time in the near future.

I vote Club 360.

It is a landmark speed....well anything over 300mph is a landmark speed.:dopey:

All else interested, say 'aye.'

Awesome thanks for the most straight forward reply...👍

I think Club 360 sounds much nicer, doesn't it? Seems to make more sense to label it with a number which also happens to be the number of degrees in a circle, seeing as we spend so much time going in circles :dopey:

How about, as a practical solution, the Leaderboard itself remains unchanged but we have a seperate page for a Club 360 Leaderboard? That way, as the number of entries is far lower, I could edit the 360 Leaderboard without assisting programs, which would mean I could add in a column linking to the video with no problems! :)

So long as you guys don't mind it being on a seperate page (surely that adds prestige? ;)) that seems to be a decent solution.

EDIT - Crimson voting for Club 360, how strange... :sly: 👍

I've broken 360mph, I just haven't posted the video yet! :D

It simply rounds mathematically to the nearest integer, which is all it displays

Just to add some thoughts to the 'speed display innacuracy' theory, in my reverse Chaparral video, the final speed is 212.19mph, which would round to 212mph, but the display never seems to show higher than 211mph. In that respect, I don't think it's rounding.

Awesome thanks for the most straight forward reply...👍
No problem. I forgot to mention in the post that I use the Dual Shock 2 controller. Personally I don't think theres any disadvantage to using it that cannot be overcome with practice... you simply need to get used to using the analogue sensitivity part of the directional buttons.

Finally, on a side note, does anyone else have problems with message posting on YouTube? If I try to send a private message it complains that the message body is empty. If I try to make a comment, it says my comment has beed accepted, but it never gets posted. I also can't contact thier support team, as the form they use for this keeps complaining my message is empty. :(

How bumpy was the car riding? If it suddenly jolted over 211mph, it might not have been responsive enough to show 212mph, flashing it so quickly it wasn't even visible or simply not displaying it at all.
As for YouTube, it's completely failing to upload a video for me, so don't talk to me about it :p

DE

The ride of the car didn't seem particularly bumpy at all (other than my handling), though the acceleration at the top end is very fast so it could be that. It's smashing into the rev limiter quite vigorously, making it hard to tell exactly what the peak speed is.

The engine on the Chaparral is awesome, and doesn't drop it's rate of acceleration at all at the top end. The main thing that holds the car back is its aerodynamics. If it had a turbo and an LMP body...

I dunno. If it had NAWS I'm fairly certain that it would be able to make it at least to 340. LMP body style? Your looking at a TS020 fighting monster. Then there is the 2J, which is another matter entirely.

Sorry.. my intention was not to say WTF for seeing the 301 and obtaining 300.65; I know the metter rounds the speed! The WTF was because my rx-8 never has passed from 300.14Mph, and the metter, from showing a shy 300 number and getting it away for me!
Anyway, thx by the explanation ^^

Nice work! You definitely deserves some 👍 for that.

Thankyou Rule!

And now the news.
I just arrived at my home right now. A little bit late (so many traffic on the road, omg :grumpy:)

300.68Mph @ the Rx-8 LM ^^

And a little surprise:

Gillet Vertigo @ 307.27Mph :sly:
Of course there is more to get from the Vertigo.. gotta try later! I just tested him last night for a couple of hours.. So i think it can get better. About the Rx-8, i think still there is a little more to get; The last time i posted, was 300.65 (without the screen), and now 300.68Mph. Must be not much, but this car still have power to show, i think (even if "more power" means 0.1, but we are talking about the Rx-8) 👍

Cheers 👍

ALL right. That is it. I'll be back in 10 minutes. NO ONE takes my original 300MPH car from me.

Yeah, I meant to say NOS instead of turbo. The 2D's engine is just so great at the top end.

When I set my 306.50mph record with the Vertigo, I think I only drove it on the test track twice. Once with 'guessed' setting, and then again to adjust the gearing. In respect of that, it certainly has a lot mot more to give from the speed I obtained. I guess I'll have to do a few more runs and up my speed. 👍

ALL right. That is it. I'll be back in 10 minutes. NO ONE takes my original 300MPH car from me.
It was just taken from me, not you... and I'm sure you vowed vengeance when I took it before! I might just leave the two of you to battle it out and work on somthing else instead...

Whoaaa :D
Toronado in action =]

To be true, i really like to see your speed-posts here; It´s at least a honour to see a talented driver like you taking up a car to beat a speed of mine!

Go Go 👍

Wish luck in your runs!

I´m sure you will beat me xD

Hey, MS, please don´t take it wrong!
I´m NOT underestimating you or Toronado; I´m new here, and new at this.. I´m not even CLOSE to drivers like you, Toronado, 2078TM or DE, among others; I´m learning it.. and trying to be better; You all are experienced drivers/tunners, and i really respect you all for that!

I´m proud to beat a speed of yours; But, to take a example:
I took a MONTH to make a higher speed in the Rx-8 then the last current record (that belongs to 2078TM). The fact that i runned a couple of hours to make a speed to the vertigo, and you do one close of it in two runs, is another prove that you were not taking it to the top.

I will repeat to you what i said to Toronado:

It´s a honour to beat a speed of yours; Even if you were not playing serious! 👍

And keep it posted, you both; I want to see what this Vertigo is really capable in the right hands!

Cheers

:dunce: :ouch:  :scared:  :guilty: I've heard that Gran Turismo 5 is coming out for the PS2 and not for thePS3 because the PS3 freezes after 3 hours when playing it. Anyways the PS3 costs $500-$700..:yuck: :grumpy: 👎

(Not to be bossy or anything, but this might be the wrong place for that comment. :dunce:)

On-Topic: I really like the effort that you guys put in to your cars and the battles you have together. I wish I could join you, but I spend to much time turning and braking! :)

Good work on this thread DE!
