Wow, I can't believe you knew what car I was using. Thanks for your help, you just saved me alot of time 👍

Do you think there are some road cars still out there that haven't been used yet?

What is a realistic amount of extra speed a good set-up will add to the cars top speed? I've found a road car that achieved a top speed of 290mph with no tuning at all (except gears). Would a good set-up get this car over 300mph? (BTW. A wing cannot be fitted to this car)

Or would the results vary too much between cars?

The results vary a lot between cars, because of their aerodynamic differences. I would suggest you to change some suspension settings, but with no wing to set downforce correctly it becomes VERY hard. And, first factor to consider of all:

Oh. I can guess what car you are using then. And if I'm guessing correctly (RUF CTR2), no, it can't do 300 MPH. It literally and figuratively hits an aerodynamic wall at 296. Just stops it in its tracks. If it could take 70 shot nitrous, it wouldn't be a problem (just like a few mid engine American cars that no-one better say the names for). But 50-shot isn't enough.

If Toronado say that, you can really trust him. He´s one of the most experienced and good drivers / tunners here. Better get another car!

I can link you to my posts where I covered the CTR2 in case you want to give it a shot.

There is an Esprit that hasn't been used by me or Masterstorm that should quite easily pull 300. Just look for the '98 V8 SE in Used Car Lot II. Only one of the 3 road Vipers have been used, and I personally believe that all three can pull 300. There is probably some variation of Skyline that hasn't been used that can still pull 300MPH as well.

I greatly appreciate all your help Toronado, thanks again.

I'm giving up on my goal to get a road car over 300mph, I think they are a little out of my league at the moment.

I've started working on the Minolta now, it didn't take long to get it over 300mph. Got it up to 323mph after another 5 or so runs, that puts me way down list (once I get a photo of it) but I'm happy with it considering I know very little about tuning. My fastest speed in the Minolta was 338mph, but the front wheels were lifting :indiff: . I tried to change a few things to avoid the wheel lift, but couldn't get anything to stop it (except changing my suspension setting back).

Anyways, I might try and get some more speed out of it tomorrow (I know there's a lot more to get )

lol, i think i know what cars you are talking about *gg*

and you're right about the CTR2, no chance for it! i worked hard on the GTS viper, but i couldn't break the barrier......

I remember when i said: "Just Gearing right now; Suspension is ok";
I swear never underestimate my dampers again xD
After 3 hours spent on gearing without any great results..
And after 40 min reading the Scaff´s guides to suspension and gear tuning (Great stuff, i really recommend it!), and about to get CRAZY:

299.97Mph
So close.

I think the problem is between the DS2 and the chair :sly:

Edit: Got It!!!!!!!!!

300.06Mph

About five days after, 20 pages of tuning notes and tables of results, and a LOT of coffe and coke :D

Of course there is still more to get, but, for a first speed-tuning, i have learned a lot, and i´m really glad!

Anyway, where is you DE? I´m sure you Rx-8 is about to take 301:sly:

Cheers:tup:

Happy Birthday Ichi, sorry to be two days late :dopey:
I might have got to that speed slightly quicker than you, but I've almost ran out of tricks to use now! It's getting harder and harder, although I reckon I can at least get to 299.5mph in a few more runs.
It's nice to be in a little friendly battle like this once again :)

2078TM
Every tenth and hundreth is like pulling teeth once you get this close to the car's max potential.
It really is :boggled:

GT4_Rule
Reminds me of a time when I got 299.99mph on that car.
Hehe, I remember that :D

It hasn't been touched! Still at 298.98mph, I've been away from my PS2 for a couple of days, so, I might have some news tomorrow :) Nice improvement, keep on going!

I think if I set my mind to it, I could spawn about five more 300mph GT-Rs, but there's really no point :p

Anyway, off I go... I seem to have caught a bit of a cold, but still I've got a party to go to  so, until tomorrow...

Thanks DE! No problem to be late :sly:

Yeah.. every .01 is a victory xD. But i know you can beat me easy x) Keep going DE =]

I just can say the same! It´s being a very nice battle, and i think without it i would have gived it up at 299.50 xD

Hope you get it easy! Keep us posted please =) Btw, did you see my edit? Got it x)! I think i finally get into the Leaderboard :) So proud :sly:

Hope you enjoy yourself a lot xD

Ah, i´ve got 300.08 lol. Now the things are hard; I almost have no idea to tune it more.. but i'll keep trying.

Cheers:tup:

Wasn't that my idea to try the GT racers?
Yes. But it was my idea to try the GT road cars. And I fielded all three of them proudly until they hit 297/8 and started being bitter pieces of crap.
opendriver19a
Just to wish you a merry X-mas, how about you try the skyline GTR race car?

The stars and stripes version
Stars and Stripes nets you the Camaro LM Race Car. :odd:
But a good suggestion nonetheless.

How about someone try to hit 300mph on that bumpy 4 miles of Sarthe's straight? I've been trying to do that and only got up to 280-ish in a maxed out Ford GT that still had some time left in 6th before the redline. I can't remember my settings exactly, but I won't know if I need to tweak the gears until I max 6th. Unfortunately, setting the nitrous to max means it's gone in about 10 seconds and that's it, and it takes much longer than 10 seconds to go down that straight. But then the fun part is trying to get the car down from that speed to take the upcoming right-hander. Anyone up for trying that out? I'm gonna try this out again now that school's out for the break, so I'll be pretty busy between this and trying to max out TT.

Omg. So tense right now :D

I just took my Rx-8 to another Oil change and wash..

Time to see what i´ve got after some work on LSD and Stabilizers.

After the i-wash-you-you-get-faster time, i bring my little old Rx-8 to another test.
The things were normal, but i just note that it was almost getting 245Mph more easy before the nitrous line. At the limit, i bring the NoS on, and..

At the end of the test, 300.14Mph!

A little and happy improvement. But my tricks are ending right now =]

2078TM, you really know what you are doing on GT4 man. What a speed you´ve got! Each .01 mile i win with this car, i see how amazing it is :)👍

DE, i´m just about to travel to another state of my country, and i think i will not have access to internet there.. so i will only be back at 26/12. If we don´t meet eachother before that, a happy X-mas to you friend!

And keep it going on the Rx-8, i really hope you will beat me xD (And i will be glad to see you doing it!)

I will bring my ps2 with me :D so i think i will come back with some new speeds.. (i hope so :D). Anyway, i´m sure you will get it while i´m out =]

Regards:tup:

I took my TS020 to La Sarthe II with the same settings I used for this leaderboard (turbo and NOS) and on my first attempt did no better than 304  At the Test Track this setup can go faster than that in 5th before hitting NOS.

About 20 minutes of fiddling with gearing and downforce got me to a top speed of 324MPH on the way to a (very evil and sloppy) 2:47:798 lap. Looking at the replay the nose of the car was pinned to the track until the top of the brow and then it would rise maybe two inches to aproximately its static attitude - despite adding rear and reducing front downforce.

How about someone try to hit 300mph on that bumpy 4 miles of Sarthe's straight?

See above

At the end of the test, 300.14Mph!

Come on, you can do it, it'll give me an excuse to get the RX-8 out of the garage

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

But seriously, I was more tramuatised by that Ford than the Saleen. At least the Saleen didn't have 3 different versions that would all stop at 298 and taunt me.
I know, that's why I only mentioned the Saleen - it's Christmas, I didn't want to be too harsh :dopey:

Congratulations, Ichi! Well done!
I know just how much work this car takes, and you've beaten me to it :D
Keep on improving!

Hope I've got here quick enough, happy Christmas to you too! 👍

Updating Leaderboard...
Through the very slow server...

EDIT @ 1050 - FreeWebs is responding too slowly, I've had it working for over ten minutes now, I'll have to leave the update for later :indiff: it's all ready, just needs implementing. The server's been on a go-slow recently, but now it's at an all-time low.
EDIT2 @ 1253 - And it's still loading. Hmm. I'll leave it going for another hour and see what happens :indiff:
EDIT3 @ 1601 - This is not good... :boggled:
EDIT4 @ 1832 - It lives!

once i got my Nissan R92CP to go 343.40 MPH. i changed the transmission. the auto was 25 and the one over it should be at its lowest and for the suspension. i pu the front and rear stabilizers to its highest and the front camber angle to 9.0 and the rear camber angle at 7.5 the ride height for the front should be at its highest and its rear ride height at its lowest and the spring rate at the front should be at its highest and the spring rate in the rear at its lowest and the shock boungd should both front and back should be at 10 or 5 and the shock rebound should be at 10 or 5 for both front and back and for NOS put it a its highest then tada you will get a speed at 343.40:idea:

There is probably some variation of Skyline that hasn't been used that can still pull 300MPH as well.

That'll be Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R V-Spec II'94, the 6.2 mile edition... :grumpy: I've been kicking it's butt around the test course multiple times every now and then, and still hanging around 298mph :ouch:

whaa, RX-8 racecar can do 300?! okies, i think I shall hunt down RX-7 LM racecar then..

The RX-7 LM racecar has done it too, Leon :p

As for my RX-8, well, after almost an hour I've managed to get her up to 299.50mph. And now I'm really running out of ideas... I think a total re-gearing will be needed to get any more out of her.

Try adjusting the rear springrates and rear stabilizers. And, of course, full rear downforce.:sly: 👍

I've searched this thread and came up with nothing, so i'll see what i can do with an SLR. i think it's possible to achieve at least 300 mph fully tuned.

I'll post a pic if i get it :)

As i just found out sadly, it can reach only 244.1 here, bad luck, but it will not be possible to reach 300... bummer.
