Id like to see it, I pushed my Speed up to 355.82 (Got a Vid, Ill post it later)

But Id like to know if I should go push it some more (Im sure I can).

Yep, you need a low-mileage car, but also make sure to have the Toyota Stage 4 turbo fitted, not the tuner's shop stage 5 turbo. The stage 4 produces more top end power than the stage 5, and for getting to 300mph it's horsepower that you need most of.

((And DE, you'll never give up on that "no R5 tyres" stuff, will you? So, what you're saying is that if I go for harder tyres all my best speeds here will rise even further? Watch out Toronado! But I don't think so. I suggest you conduct the experiment of getting a car that is set up as fast as you can make it go, then switch tyres (and tyres only - change no other settings). To be scientific, do 3 or 4 runs to eliminate any chance of single-run driver error, then look at the results. Let me know how you go.))
 
Here is a quick question for everyone.

While attempting to break the 300mph barrier, do most of you start from the starting line, or do you backtrack a little on the track to get a head start.

I.e. going back to the turn near where the test starts and starting from there?

Start from the start line. No winding back for a longer run-up. Mr RacR3Rx knows all about this topic and can fill you in further if you need it, as that's how he came first to our attention, with a very quick speed achieved by the run-up method. Happily, he has been rehabilitated.

Toronado, if you ran a car that CAN take nitrous WITHOUT nitrous then yes I would need a replay because there's no other way to show it's not on the bottle.

About the GT, I bet I know someone who would enjoy being the first to get it there :lol: I'll send him a PM. I don't think the roadcar production GT could get there, but if someone had a go with the GT Race Car LM SpecII that might do it. This talk of GTs has given me an idea, which I have all day to implement to my best effect so you'll see what I'm talking about soon 👍

Oh, and Toronado what Japanese import would that be? There's plenty to choose from :p

Okay. I'll put one up some time this week. Hint: It's an Le Mans car. Poor hint, eh?

Also, I think the GT could legitimately make 300 if I was to put the time into that I've put into, say, the Lotus Esprit. Today I got 293.26 MPH with it.

And never mind about the car I had in mind (Honda NSX-R LM race car). It could probably do it, but I don't have the time nor the inspiration to force it to do so. Someone else can take this one, I don't want it. I did manage 297.61 with it though...

And Ozmac? Beware, as I have finished translating the settings from old Esprit to new Esprit. Ha ha ha!!! :lol:

When I made my 313.x run with my GT-one I began at the starting line. But goofing around with some other cars I back tracked a little. It didnt really help that much.

Lately I have been messing with the Viper concept. its getting closer to the 300 mark. :)

No, I won't give up on it! I've yet to test it thoroughly because I only have every tyre type for one car... But I will test it. The softer the tyre the slower it is in real life, that is a 100% proven fact, but we'll need to see whether GT4 follows that or not.

I'll watch your video later on today Octane, I've not got time at the moment but I'll get it downloaded and verified (or disqualified... hopefully not!) soon.

Hello laddies. I would like someone else to try my Audi R8 settings and then tell me if its bogus or if its real. I dont have the equipment to post a confirmition, so if someone ( I´m looking at you DARK ELITE!) could try this out to confirm? My speed was 351.26 mph, and I´ve been watching my replay over and over from different views and in different modes, but I can´t see a wheelie anywhere. I´ve noticed that synchro mode is the best to see this in, since it portrays the car from the side on the final straight, before the "finishline". Here we go!

Thank you! Oh, and before i forget; if you get problems with the gearsettings, start off with adjusting the final to 5.500 and then the auto to 25. The rest goes as stated above!
A tip: Always write down yor settings on paper while youre trying to go faster! This gives you a very clear pic of what works and not.
 
No problem. I'll be testing the settings out probably before you read this :p or at least as soon as possible. I don't write my settings down, but then I have a very good memory so I don't really need to. I know as much as I need to to set a record every now and then without writing stuff down.. But I still get beaten every now and then *cough*Rac3rX*cough* :lol:

Some people are sure lucky...myself, I have a selective memory over wich I have no power. I seem to remember only useless stuff and keep forgetting the important stuff =)

about the tyres: R5 give better traction exiting the corner, as you shift up to 6th. You may notice some other oddities in these setting aswell (esp. rideheight).

it would apear as if i need to take back my R8 record.....i havnt been playin gt4 much, ive been working on beating grand theft auto san andreas for the 5th time....but ill try and get it back soon......i think

This is fun, I never though they could go that fast (I though 355mph at best) but we keep pushing it.

Im also suprised the Minolta cant get up there, its lighter, and has more power (BUT you cant bury the needle, like the GT-One, if you look at the RPM's Im need deep in the red line)

I have noticed that the tyres you chose are about the best you can do.. Well done! The rideheight is very sensible, as we've established that the higher the nose is the faster the car goes, so a higher front ride height is a good idea. The thing I don't like about it is it's so very close to wheelieing all the time, but I can't really disqualify it because it's on the ground all the time. Nice show of sparks too!
Altogether, it works well. I tested it out last night, and ended up with 347.XX. I suppose 351 is possible... I'd prefer a video rather than simply testing it myself though, because slight changes to the setup make it wheelie, and I might not be driving it how you do 👍

Racer and Octane, with the GT-One war, which is shaping up to last forever :D I'm donwloading your latest video now Racer, if you don't mind I won't watch the older ones because I don't need to any more, they're redundant!

UPDATE - Just watched it Racer. I have to laugh at your music choice! It's such a cliche, but it made me smile! The run is legitimate. Well done. I like te circling camera in the corner.. Off-topic, there are lessons to be learnt from making a video as smooth as that!

Yep, that's what's wrong with GT4 Top Speeds tuning with the Le Mans cars: the way to go is towards the "wheelie" end of the spectrum, and the winner is the one who submits a blurry video that convinces the judges. The real answer, and it's not one I'm seriously suggesting for this thread, is to submit an actual high-definition replay.

From my point of view, a while back I realised that with Minoltas, GT-Ones, etc, the "almost-wheelie" settings were the quick ones. When I looked at replays from the in-car angle, with just the tacho dial in front, the way the front end bobbed up and down looked alarming. (I think DE called this the "Churchill Effect" - I don't know why). Even when I turned the downforce to nil both ends, just with tall ride height up front, you'd get the bobbing front end, even though a wheelie was impossible.

Then when I selected the in-car view that gave you the car's hood (or, for the English/Aussies, the 'bonnet') as well as the tacho dials, the front end behaviour didn't look so alarming. That was the point of view that Couttsey used, understandably.

And then when you look at the replay from the outside car view in GT4 it's not so bad. That's the view of the current LSR holder - understandably again. Factor in the fuzziness of a video recorder downloaded on screen and you hardly notice a thing.

But, as far as I am concerned, this LSR stuff is going to end up in a crappy argument about wheelies at some stage, and that's a shame.

In GT3 the fastest speed settings for GT-Ones were the opposite of wheelies, and therefore were simple to manage. It was never an issue.

In GT4 the fastest GT-One settings are, basically, illogical crap. But well done to all the contestants and their video cameras, but I know for sure where this whole business is headed, in the long run.
 
Thank you DE! Sadly I can´t post a video of my run, since I don´t have the equipment to do so, but I´ll see if can post a pic of the speed. If I do, can I have that run? I also have other runs in other cars, wich I think is record speed for those cars, IE the Bentley, the Pescy ´04, the 88C-V and the R92CP. Currently I´m nowhere near the LSR though. Have yet to pass 355 mph.

Agreed. And I´m amazed too see how much the front end of the car can rise without doing a wheelie.
The best view of a replay is undoubtedly the synchronized view, where you occasionaly get angels that portraits the front wheels. One may have to watch the same replay several times though. :indiff:
 
Yup yup, The Ouside camera shows the wheels better the all other views, Id like to think my vids are clear as they are NOT done with a camera but a capture card, I can also take high res stills
