XJ220 can't do it. believe me, I've tried. it just lacks the grunt at the upper range, where it's needed.. we've been talking about this before.

Team666, I don't think it's acutally possible to get that car (Pescarolo 2003) to do that... The sixth gear ratio on mine was as wide as it will go, and so was the Final Drive... Anyway, I'd like a couple of tyre shots because that car really does wheelie. I don't mean to cause offence, but I find it almost impossible to believe that you got 326 on your first try with such oddball gears.

I can give you my settings, they really are strange, but the whole thing is up to the suspension, I promise you. I looked at the replay myself and I could not find a reason to check it in photomode, but I will. Only thing is I did´nt save the run, but I still have settings, so it´s no problem.
And also, as far as I know, no car is able to wheelie with full downforce in the front, although this one jumped up after the first nod of the churchill effect. That is why the suspension also is quite oddball. Since you already deemed this impossible with your settings, going through mine wouldn´t be so horrible would it? Even if you don´t reach the speed I do, due to another drivingstyle, you should beat your previous speed.

EDIT - Again Team666, that is a near-impossible speed in that old car (R92CP). I know mine doesn't stand a chance of that. I notice that the colour is cut out of the photo, so I can't tell if it's a Black car or not, but if it is it's just not possible. If it's a new car, I'd like a video, please. No offence, but it's too far ahead of everyone else to accept straight away.

Sorry, I have not posted any R92CP runs, but I can tell you it´s legit without any hesitation, since the car is more than able for ten mph more than that. I´ll see if I can get a video recorded sometime soon, for proof. Or check the settings for it posted in my sig!

You might want to edit your post, you keep putting 2 instead of 3  we're a bit faster than that here!

Downloading your video now, CoolGeekz.

EDIT3 - Coolgeekz, watching you video now... Why Do You Keep Putting 2!?!...And AGAIN at the end!
Well, silly errors aside, it's verified. Great video quality, too. Well done 👍

Lol i was almost 2 am when I made the video and made my post, so I struggling to stay awake. I edited my post, and I'm going to take some more pics, this time close ups, as FormulaGT asked. I didn't do them yesterday because I fell asleep 10 min after I made the post.

Capture card for Chrismas, not really an expensive one either. It's a Pinnacle Dazzle 85, it's external (usb to connect to comp). Around $50 ish, carried at Best Buy

EDIT: New close up pics (from photomode).

At 332 MPH, in the tunnel, this (if anywhere) is where I thought it would wheelie, but i did not (sorry for the poor quality, even at brightness +10, it's still dark)

This is when I hit 364 MPH, all 4 wheels still touching

now to go for 270, oops 370! ahhh!

I just had an interesting idea:
I was messing around in the Minolta, trying to hit 350, and I noticed I could get well into the 200's before the 1000m. So I tuned it some more and changed to the 1000m instead of Max Speed test.
After some more tuning I hit 289 MPH before 1000m was up.
Has anyone or can anyone hit 300 MPH within 1000m? 289 is my personal best, not sure if this has been done before....
I'll post pics up later, and a vid if I hit 300 within 1000m

Hi guys

Not tried to crack 300mph before, so sat down last night with my Speed 12 and set about trying to joining the club.

Here we go

Its not going to set any new records, but it is enough (I hope) to join this merry band of high speed explorers.

Regarding Rac3rX's top speed, is that even possible without the wheels leaving the ground (there seemed to be a lot of controversy over whether or not the video was edited).
The run appears pretty legit, but I've been debating whether to take it out purely because he's an arrogant ----... If someone beats it, I'll take it out altogether - if it's not on the top spot, I don't see the use in keeping it. We always move on to bigger and better speeds, so it probably is possible.

Well, if you wouldn't mind PMing me the settings. It seems like a very oddball setup to manage a good speed with full front downforce, so I'd be interested to try it out :)

Sorry about the confusion, the R92CP was Opendriver's :dunce: do you think it is capable of 345-350? I know the Black one certainly isn't.

Coolgeekz, cheers for the close-ups. I can tell by the shape of the car on it's springs that it's doing a serious speed, so I'll take your word for it being the same run. It's pushing hard, but it's on the ground. Fully accepted.

OK Opendriver... Seeing as it's a new car, I've got no further problems with that run. 👍

That's an interesting idea with the 300mph-in-a-kilometre thing CoolGeekz, but it's a little difficult to govern... Only as an unofficial challenge between you's if you like :p

Hi Scaff! Honoured to have you on board 👍 and it's nice to see a first-time run that doesn't use Group C :)
That car's been tried and tested as 300-capable, so the photo is plenty proof! You're in the merry band :D

Thanks DE, had to go with a road car first time out, using a Group C just seemed a bit to easy.

Even so the Speed 12 wasn't that hard to get past the 300mph mark, next onto something different.

👍

Thanks for the welcome.

Good to hear that attitude! Didn't do it because it was too easy ;)

Might I suggest, if you found the Speed 12 nice and easy, the Viper SRT-10, or for a nitrous-free challenge the Chaparral 2D? Or if you want to pioneer, the Chappy 2J :D

Well, I've taken the Pescarolo record - but only just! The car is absolutely at it's limit, I could maybe gain half an mph through driving it differently but no more. It's totally flat-out, but I'm pretty sure it's on the ground and it crossed the speed trap at 325.53mph - a mere .28 faster than Toronado in the same car. Took some doing, though.

I'll get some close-ups of the front wheel as soon as possible, this car wheelies at the most unexpected setting changes at this speed, but I'm pretty sure she was on the ground here. Nevertheless, I'll get some photos soon. 👍

I gone for one week and all hell breaks loose. I will have this record back. If it means I have to gear the car so it uses more than 3 gears, so be it :sly:. In addition, I see many of my records are being challenged while I've been away with the cess pit known as the Ford GT. I am going to rectify this now. By Monday I will post up a whole slew of records (including one more of Ozmac's, the CLK-GTR, and a rather high Audi record).
Edit: Some mild chages got me within .02 MPH of you DE...

No worries, and I must admit I´m a liar, since I actually didn´t think the speed was as high as it was, but I can see that at the very most 345 is possible, but that would take some serious tweaking, but I´m gonna see what I can do and post a vid of it.
And agreed, the used one is incapable.
And if I can make the videos work, you better get your R8 up speed!

See DE,It is completely possiable and it took me about 20 minutes or so to "fine-tune" it. there is great room for improvement. The used one is not able to do it( mine has 1100hp w/o no2)

Ya it was just an idea, I will still try to do it, maybe if I do (or others reading this post) hit 300 in a kilometer, maybe it will grow (but in my opinion it's harder than hitting 350 mph). It won't be near as big as the normal challenge (some people have a hard enough time getting to 300 mph as it is, let alone doing it in a kilometer [just under 2/3 of a mile]).
Good news: If I hit 300 in the 1000m, I will post the settings.

Well, I think i've gotten quite close 300MPH before 1000m. i usually run the speed tests in KM/H (i'm an Aussie, can't grasp this MPH thing). I find that i usually hit the first bend at around 430-440 KMH (not near PS2 at the moment), which, at the 1000m mark would probably mean that i'm going around the high 300's (KMH). My settings for the Minolta are quite strange however, especially the gearing. i usually hit my highest speed at about 8-8.5 thousand revs into fifth, i've never reached sixth! i guess i might be able to hit the mid 360's (in MPH) with better ratios. This is a good idea CoolGeekz, keep at it.

^^
If you want to see what your speed is at the 1000m, just look at your speed when you see the second trap time on your screen (with the minolta I normally hit it around 14-15 seconds). That second time is the 1000m. You probably know that.
And you probably know this too, but others can see it. 482.28 KMH is 300 MPH. Just multiply you speed in KMH by .62137 to get your speed in MPH.

I did some more tuning with the Minolta to try to get 300 (482kmh) at the 1000, but still I'm stuck at 289, this time with really wacky gear settings (the last attempt was with more "conventional" settings). 5.5 final ratio hehe.
I'll get the settings now and post them, I don't care who does it, but someone needs to get 300 before the 1000.
===========================================
EDIT: Here are the settings
This will (if you shift well) hit 289 MPH (465 KMH) before the 1000m mark.

My best is 289 MPH at 13.488 seconds

I have a few ideas for that setup, if you like to try them yourself.
Since you´re only running for 1000m, you can lower your downforce as much as possible, and take away the ballast too. Also change front tyres to R1 and adjust camber to at least 2.5/0.0 to reduce friction. If you want better response on your rear tyres during takeoff, set rear springs to 4.5.

EDIT- i like this idea, it sounds like fun. Will try it as soon as my girlfriend wakes up, wouldn´t wanna wake her at 5 in the morning...:sly:

i notice you have TCS at 6, have you tried dropping that slightly, say to 4 or 5? I'm no skilled tuner, but for me, that increased my top speed by about ~0.5 MPH and acceleration quite dramatically (i now hit the corner at around 280 MPH, istead of the high 270's).

Has any one tryed the nissan R89?
I dont have the car so I dont know what it is capeable of. Performance wise, it seems like the R92CP is the closest to it.
So if any one has this car and wants a new topspeed record for a single car, here ya go!

I actually tried it a few hours ago, and it´s really fast! Compared to the R92CP it´s only 2 mph slower with my current setups.

Here we go, just broke my record speed for the Minolta 88-CV with a 363.34 MPH run. Fiddled with the driving aids this time and cruised past my old record. I think this is the fastest i'll be able to get out of my Minolta for quite a while (got this speed after two CONSECUTIVE runs of 363.33 MPH), i'm sort of running out of ideas now...

Hi, as a DFP user, I have been asked to post my couple of successful 300mph attempts. The wheel does jump around like a scalded cat, but can be tamed somewhat with softer springs , higher ride height & a chassis refresh on high milage vehicles (my Minolta!)
Please note, Nitrous was used on these runs.

Is the increase rigidity any good for high speeds?

Good question, (from another Leicester dweller). I have a brand new Minolta to test with increased rigidity to see how the DFP behaves. Its a shame my girlfriend had "Crazy Frog Racer" for Christmas as there seems to be a queue for MY PS2. I wish she'd go and make some dinner or something!

I gone for one week and all hell breaks loose. I will have this record back. If it means I have to gear the car so it uses more than 3 gears, so be it

Got the pic for my Pescorolo 04' at 325
Or 335, even :p
I've got a feeling my R8 can go faster and harder than that :sly:

Nicely done Opendriver, now get out there and catch Ghost! Looks like I've sparked off a French civil war

Keep trying for the sub-kilometre 300, CoolGeekz - but perhaps an LMP car might do better, because of the better gearboxes? I'm not sure.

You blew my big surprise! I've got the R89c, and I intend to take it to about 320 before posting it officially 👍 at least I get exclusivity, almost nobody has it!
It's similar to the R92CP because it has the same engine :)

Except Team666... Damn. Oh well, an exclusive battle begins :p

I'll check that video out in a few minutes, Formula 👍

Updating leaderboard.
Good to see you here bluedot, but for future reference could you please use the Session Records screen instead of the leaderboard screen? It's easier to read. I'll try to work out those speeds in that photo.

EDIT - Looks like my R8 is capable of a little more than I thought - I pulled this off after just a few minutes of fiddling. Just goes to show how much I've learnt! 343.41mph is my new personal best in the R8, the fastest done in the R8, and I think my own best ever speed :) the car was incredibly well grounded throughout the run - I didn't think, at any stage, that it'd pull off the ground, and it didn't.

Catch me if you can, Ghost!

FormulaGT, your video is at 98%... Watching now... Well, it sure is the speed you said it was, phenomenally fast! And, although the camera is at a pretty poor angle I can see fairly clearly that the wheels are down. Legitimate run, well done! 👍 👍 You've broken 360! Now get after Rac3r!

Nice run FormulaGT, just 1.3 MPH under my run. I need to get a faster speed before someone beats me (somehow I need 5.4 MPH, must hit 370). You also hit 240 at the 1000m, maybe try tuning to see if you could hit 300 in the 1000.

Team666, I'll try those suggestions. I know you said remove the ballast, but oddly I got 5 MPH more out of it at the 1000m (284-289).
