Can anyone shed light on how this compares to the T300?
I've had a T300, TLCM, TH8A and Playseat challenge since 2022 and it has served me well getting to A+ rank on GT7 online, though these days I almost exclusively play EA WRC on PS5 only.
It's time I upgraded.
First off I plan to either get a Playseat Trophy or a GT Omege Prime Lite R, unsure which yet. It's the wheel base I can't decide on.
Common financial sense would say to simply buy the T958 base with a QR adaptor and transfer all my gear to it, but the 5Nm puts me off.
I'd also like to treat myself to a new wheel, so I've been eyeing up the Evo 32 rim, but an earlier post ITT claimed the additional weight (1.2kg Vs 800g of the stock T300 rim) dampens the FFB noticeably. A weakened FFB response on an already fairly weak 5Nm motor isn't great, considering the T300 is 3.9Nm anyway. So I'd like to know just how much more powerful does this wheelbase feel especially when considering the 'overshoot' ability.
My second option is to sell ALL my TM gear and start over with the Logi RS50, their loadcell pedals and make do with their crappy H shifter until they release a nicer one. Much more expensive option as sim racing resale value isn't great. Though I think I'd get at least £400 for the lot.
I wonder if TM could release a 'boost kit' for the T598, I guess it would need to include some bolt/clamp on fans as the base can get quite hot without boosting the power

This day, for the Prime Day 2025, the T598 DIRECT DRIVE bundle is at only 415 € (delivery included) instead of 499 €:

Finally a date for the xbox version. Will possibly buy- Anyone had any overheating issues with this ? I have read elsewhere it cuts out alot. Other models have had overheating issues, seems as though TM still can’t build reliable wheels.

Cutting out has been fixed with this

Also the wheel does run warm/hot depending on how long you use it and your settings. The biggest factor I found to the heat was the Inertia setting on the wheel base, putting it on low or off in high downforce cars works well and the wheel base only warms a little bit.

Not had any heat related disconnects from mine.

I only tend to use it for a 3 hour race every other week. But that's 3 hours of nonstop use and it's fine for me.

From what I’ve read, the cutting out is not a power issue, its overheating from usage-which then kicks in a drop in ffb. Much like the T300 does, gets too hot, then you lose ffb until it cools down. Is there a built in fan in the t598 ? The T300 issue was resolved with a FW update to enable forced cooling (fan always on). But if there is no fan in the T598 then you either have to run it with less ffb or sit and wait for it to cool down. Reluctant to drop £450 on this wheel if it’s yet another design floor from thrustmater

Like I said, I've not had any heat related issues, I've also not had any loss in FFB.

I've used it quite a lot on PC on Assetto Corsa for drifting and it does get very hot when doing that, because I need the wheel spin speed and FFB to feel the car, but still no cut outs on that either or disconnects.

The only disconnects I have experienced with the wheel has been on PS4 and it runs cooler on there than on PC so not heat related.

I don't believe that the base has any sort of fan inside it at all because it uses the bases casing as a heat sink, hence the reason it does get hot to touch, it is part of the design.

I didn't come from a T300 so can't comment on that, but I came from a G29 and have used a Fanatec 6nm, SimUCube and Logitec GPro and I am still happy that I decided to go for the T598 over them.

The only other wheel I liked the feel of was the Logitech GPro but they don't really have any form of ecosystem, and some thing on them don't work on PC.
