I have had one series tie in GT4 and I won. I was 4 points down going into the last race and won, with the other car second, I had more 1sts in the series as well.

As far as I understand it, your position in a championship only goes down when another driver has more points than you. If the points are equal, the positions stay where they are. That is, you have to dislodge the car that's ahead of you in the championship by scoring at least one more point than they have.

This mechanism eliminates all ties since there can not be points ties for the first race of the season. And the mechanics of it mean there can't be an ties later either. Ties are broken by whoever had that position first.

The other way I've heard it done is breaking ties by the number of 1st places scored... but that can result in another tie, too.

Different RL race series handle this different ways. But I was under the impression that GT3 and GT4 both handled it by the first method described... ie. you only gain position in the championship ranks by having more points than the guy ahead of you. Ties don't swap the position.

I think that's the best format anyway.

I just raced the GT All Stars, had finishes of 1,1,2,1,3,3,1,2,1,4. Going into the last race (Nurburgring), I had 70 points, ahead of the other R92CP (I was also using an R92CP) by 7 points. At the 'Ring, I had a difficult time (should have sent Tony Stewart, my B-Spec driver, out for it, but I didn't) and finished 4th (3 points) and the othter R92CP won, getting 10 points. We tied at 73 apiece, and I was given no prize money, no prize car, and the series circle shows I haven't completed the series at all yet.

1st place in points going into the last race
Most wins (5)

And I still lost.

And speaking of ties, check out what I did last night.

Yes, thats the finish of a race at Fuji 90's. Tried slingshoting the leader, but didn't quite go in time. Race Results showed I was 2nd, +0:00.000. When you consider we came across the line at 162mph, the distance can't be over an inch behind.

Sorry bud, in a championship race, if you happened to have a tie points with 2nd place after final race, that means you lost. No prize car, No $$ and No trophy.

Not argueing with you, STi04. I was just pointing out that because I had seen some people claim that if you had the lead/had the most wins, you should win the tiebreaker, which was not so in my case, where I accomplished both, but still lost.

If only KY could create a screenname on here, and we could actually ask him questions!

You might be right. I've heard someone said that in RL, if there is tied points between 2 drivers in a race series, whoever has more 1st places wins will goes on to take the trophy. But that's not the case in GT, because it happened to me too.
