Do you go on Time Trail for the specific sake of improving your driving skill and not to get the best time?

You spelt time trial wrong,

And to answer you question, skill since I never challenge top times without picking some obscure track and car combo.

You spelled spelled wrong.

No, he didn't...spelt or spelled are both perfectly acceptable.

edit: And to answer elbanjo's question, I go to Time Trial to improve my driving lines for different cars, which in turn should improve my times...

Sometimes I do it for fun but it always turn out that I aim to crack the top 50. :D I save my best replays when I get into the top 40 and I try the same car/track combo later to see if I can improve.

I do it for fun mostly. When I'm bored of racing offline or online I'd pick a random car/track combo and start TTing. I couldn't care less about my position (unless it's a competition like the WRS or GT Academy), your skill will improve by itself the more you drive.

Whenever I play GT5P these days 90% of the time it will be a random car on a random track in TT, I pay no attention to the leaderboard and I shouldn't considering I use N3's most the time (top times are always S2's).

There is no point to aiming for a fast time unless there's a direct competition. Time trial is a good way to practice though.
