Golding the event in a TAKATA DOME NSX with Dr. Johnny 'Whacko' Penso's basic tune should be easy even for the average player. I know because I'm an average player - and with Johnny's tune it was a walk in the park.

Now to get myself another TAKATA and try Stotty's not-so-secret formula.

Meanwhile, I had some FRs - they were taken care of - so guys (you know who you are) take the car on Share and run; if any of you want to tune it up, go ahead. I don't have many TD NSXs left, though, so don't ruin it irrevocably.

That Yellow Hat Supra . . . *koff

My own Takata has dirty oil now but I find pmjg's loaner is quicker, he is using 3rd stage engine upgrade rather than my high end turbo.
So decided to give Stotty's tune a try on pmjg's loaner as he's had a few good ones in the past and his features the 3rd stage upgrade.
Only a minor change to suit my ability, LSD to 5-9-5.
Anyway, chasing a Doodle rabbit I have improved a few tenths to 1:46.762, even left ol'Cargo eating my dust, nearly 1/2 a sec behind.
I'm content for a while.
Thanks for that Pmjg, Stotty, and Doodles.

Make that a 1:44.579 in 56th place...for the hour, at least.

Not sure why I'm posting my gains when there's a 1:43.223 at the top.

I updated my Raybrig NSX tune that is on share at GTPCARSHARE to make it easier to handle and revised gearing for better acceleration with the new power setup :)

I've been really struggling with this one. Was pretty easy to get gold even with some of the other cars, but I've only got a Mobil 1 NSX... I've gotten down to 1:48.3 with it but I just can't see where I am gonna gain time. I need to gain at least another second to be where I normally end up (usually I can get within 3 seconds of the really quick guys)

I might have to see if I can get one of the Dome NSX's everyone is loving ;)

The updated tune for the Raybrig NSX shared at GTPCARSHARE. Hope it drives much easier and quicker now.

My PC crashed before I could add that I have put my dirtyish oil (oil lamp red, 7,200km) Takata (no 3rd stage engine upgrade) on share if anyone requires one.

I have a stock one on share if you would like to borrow/borrow glitch it, just add me.

I have added my current tune to the 0 miles 'Dome NSX' that I have on share now too. It has a few slightly adjusted [my own preferences] bits 'n' pieces of various tunes from this thread.

On a 1:46.374 for now but I think it is easily possible for me to get into the 45's, battling with my ghost is fun and I have been up by at least .5 in places but some of the kerbs are killing me and I seem to end up almost .5 down over the line.

I have noticed that some rumble strips can be cut successfully without invalidating your lap - and in these TTs those lines are usually to be had towards the end of the lap. Sort of a reward for going the distance. ;)

Remember, the penalties are severe. Whatever allowances are given should be taken advantage of.

On another note - I can just imagine the top ten in a race. What a fight that would be. :D
And for those of you trailing by seconds . . . guys . . . that still is good. You're over-qualified. Just Gold is enough to qualify one as a decent enough player - and you guys are pushing that envelope to its max.

For now, I guess, PD gets to play with the statistics that mysteriously disappear into their maw.

Yeah, I could hardly believe Doodles lap when I first watched it, all over the concrete without getting penalised.
Obviously I was being way too conservative. The last race was similar with the 'out line' seemingly extended as I recall.

That time is only after a 5 minute or so shakedown.....I haven't even begun to get serious about this event yet, so enjoy the spotlight while you can. :sly:

Ha ha, will do Cargo, let the games begin!

I'd really like to get into this trial some more this afternoon but I don't have any of the '03 GT cars. I ran a few ghosts last week in the '06 premuim Raybrig NSX and managed a 1:50.9 and then dropped that down to 1:49.6 with my Mobil 1 NSX '01. Are there any cars closer to the Takata '03 or will I need to bite the bullet and try to get one on share?

I have the '03 cars on share now, FR me if you want to try them.

Get one on share, there are quite a few available here.

Send FR to GTPCARSHARE, you can try my Raybrig '06, the tune posted above, it should be easy to reach 1:46s.

Cheers Ridox. Do you still have the blue Miura on share? I want to try it on that damn Tokyo seasonal...

May I suggest to max the downforce, install high rpm turbo instead engine tuning if you have a spare Takata Dome, put more ballast at just over 1200+Kg perhaps, or simply increase engine power ( less power limiter ) at around 530+HP and 1200+kg - from my testing on Raybrig, this seems to give more top end speed without too much impact on handling.

Both my Takata's have engine stage 3 fitted... I'd be happy to test yours if you like?

However, my experience over the years is it's almost always better to have the highest power you can for a given lowest weight... and you can have more power if you have less torque. There are some exceptions - particularly when it's an advantage to carry more weight in the form of ballast to help reduce understeer.

May I also add, that it also depends on the car engine power and torque numbers, for cars with much higher torque that are in disadvantage to compete within certain PP limit, having more mileage gives more room to have less torque while having more HP when certain upgrade parts fitted ( high rpm turbo, exhaust/catalytic converter/ECU or engine tuning )

For example, My raybrig with high mile has 528HP with 1150kg and 40/60 downforce at 600PP, while torque is pretty high at over 400ft lb.

For Takata Dome which already at advantage against most SuperGT or JGTC cars, having more miles it pretty much pointless, and just for a hint, one of the top 5 car has pretty low mile ( less than 700 mile ) :D

The Takata I'm using has c.1,400 miles, but I'm not sure how many of those are since engine 3 was installed (which includes an oil change).

IIRC from testing JGTC/SuperGT cars some time ago, the Takata is just faster than the rest at a given PP, despite you being able to get other cars to a similar ratio of power/weight/aero. I haven't driven one for a looong time, but my memory is that the premium cars just don't handle as well. Still, I'll give them a go this week (with the pad as I don't have my wheel with me).

Thanks guys. I'll send a few FRs after work today and I'll give Ridox's '06 tune a try.

I also tested my Takata Dome, yes, it's faster within PP limit. My raybrig could only get closer because it has high mileage. I also tested 561HP and 1200+kg with same 35/60 DF on my raybrig on share ( high rpm turbo ), it's faster than Takata on main straight ( both acceleration and top speed ), but handling still not good enough due to the weight. I'm hoping the extra aero at the front would help with the current tune ( engine stage 3, 40/60 DF, 528HP,1151kg ) - I posted the tune above, it can reach just over 280kmh before braking for 1st turn, add me on GTPCARSHARE  One of the top 5 has low miles Takata - less than 700miles with over 1200kg, just FYI. - It think I said that already
.
Cheers, mate. Thanks! 👍 I'll give it a go later... :)

You're welcome.

Firstly, thanks for the great setup.

I used the setup & got a time of 1:48:564 to put me 2098th.

However, I used this setup on Loctite Mugen NSX '01. Will use on other cars to see if I can improve.

I found a few more tenth's with my Takata Dome NSX, so I've lowered my best lap to a 1:45.840:)

This puts me into 312th place, now tied with Alain-Prost!:)

See you on the track!

I had some time Saturday to try some different cars, I'm really starting to enjoy doing the time trials.
I should have just tried to improve my time with the Takata but, I've been playing this game for a year and have never used most of these cars.
I was fun seeing the differences in each of them.
I used the same setups on all the NSX's except Ridox's RAYBRIG, which I used his original setup before switching to mine.
Ran about 7 or 8 laps with each before going back to the Takata.

03' Takata Dome NSX 1:44.814
01' Mobil 1 NSX 1:45.186 (My new favorite)
01' Locitite Mugen NSX 1:45.209
00' Rayrig NSX 1:45.572
11' Wieder HSV 1:45.707
06' Raybrig NSX 1:46.455 (1:46.003, with same tune as the Takata)

That's some useful information right there for anyone wanting to try out some different cars:tup:👍 You are a couple of tenths up on me again!!

I'm heading out of town for a couple of days. If you can't get access to one by Thursday, send me an FR and I'll send you one to keep.

Well, after a quick 15 minute run, improved to 1'46.523. (Sorry Dalone :p) Still a lot more time to be had as I'm not even a half hour invested in this yet. Should be able to put some serious time into this tomorrow after my eye exam. Yes, you heard right, eye exam. After I get my new glasses, you all better look out as I'll finally be able to see where the hell I'm going.

Good one Cargo, might have another go myself before the boys get home from school.
