Fed up of the big PP races? want something slower and more fun?, i was thinking maybe i could setup some sort of time trail, like what sphinx did on the GTP qualifyer.. but this time just for fun, and on a bigger scale, open to everyone!

my idea was to make each one last a week, and make the whole event last for a 6months so 24 different races 4 per month starting in november, and to give out points for winning each event and will go towards your total score..

at least for those joining in on the fun it will pass some time.

for example, if you come

1st - 10 pts
2nd - 9 pts
3rd - 8 pts
4th - 7 pts
5th - 6 pts
6th - 5 pts
7th - 4 pts
8th - 3 pts
9th - 2 pts
10th - 1 pt

all the scores are added as we go, and everyone will get a banner to put in there signature once the comp is over each one representing there place in the competition....

but the cars wont be the usual, high powered cars, maybe the odd vette or ferrari.. i had plans to use the smaller, slower cars..

would many people be interested?

I guess we are Depending on SPhinx's to create nice races for us to Drive, but there should be room enough for this contest too, My team m8 and I, discussed last night, that next time we start a Race contest, it's better to only have rules about the settings we can check on the Timetrail ranking, active steering isn't one of them, and if used, then all can use it, but for the Fuji Race it was fun with out any Life line, clean skills and nothing ells..

I'm In ;) (maybe not in all races but!! )

I'm all for this, and I vote that test #1 be the AM vette, on N1 tires, around eiger :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I don't ever want to see the AM Vette in another competition - its great fun to drive but not in a qualifier with AI or a TT. :nervous:

Other than that, I'm up for this one too - sounds like alot of fun!
 
glad to see people interested, all the time trails will be done on pro mode. im going to put together all the races now, but obviously i will only release the info on the week of the time trail..

ok ive just picked 4 weeks out of the month, so sometimes we will have to wait a couple of days to get the next challenge..

for example..

November Races

Race 1 (1st - 8th)
Race 2 (8th - 15th)
Race 3 (15th - 22nd)
Race 4 (22nd - 29th)

December Races

Race 5 (1st - 8th)
Race 6 (8th - 15th)
Race 7 (15th - 22nd)
Race 8 (22nd - 29th)

so not everyone will fall on the same day, but you can see how its going to be worked out..

i just need to finish the banners and thats it.. its pretty much done.. all we need to wait for is the first of november.. unless you want to start it early?

Does this thread actually belong in another sub forum (A Contest Sub Forum ) just thinking that our compitetions are simular to the one's done for the GT4 in the earlier days, and in the end it would be easier to find..

I don't know, just hope it will continue, because now GTplanet (GTP) and USers makes GT5 even more interresting while we wait for the next turn from PD..

Well! just want to do it right from the Start hehe because it's awesome.
 
well i plan to see this through to the end.. and im not a quitter, so it WILL stay on every week..

all the banners are done, i guess i can create a new thread in the race events part..

what do you think to the start date?
 
Sounds great Chris, the start dates are spot on, and your banners are extreme ;)

And ya the thread should be quite active, but lets hear from what other think about adding it to Race Events, but anyways a link from the Race event to this would be great though ;)

once everything is confirmed i will put it up in the race events forum..

but until then ill just use this one.

I really want to compete in a time trial event with some nice skilled drivers

wondering how I drive? here is a video of me trying to go as fast as possible but at the same time I was going for style points and oversteer, and late apex also, I can do a better time.



I wanna do time trial with the weaker tires and such but still have people to compete with.

i would love to do this! However is this a part of the GTP_registry members only??? I'm not a member....and dont want to be if i have to change my PSN account name to GTP_slicksabo However im very fast :) and would love this....can someone let me know the deal? thanks....Check out my records on Fuji F....random cars including #1 ranking with Ford GT :)

you do not have to be a GTP member to compete, but you do need to have a valid time on the game. (uploaded to the online ranks will suffice) you also need to be a member from this site.

im going to have to think of another way to reward the people with the time they put in, originally i thought of signature banners like above but after speaking with Jason (site owner) its not something he is keen on doing unfortunatly..

so we are left with Avatars or .. some sort of txt in the signature part with a link to a picture, trophy..

and at the end of the day its not like this is the most important part, i just wanted to give what many others dont.. i guess now i see why but this isnt going to put me off monitoring this competition at all, ill just think of a work around..

so come the first of november the race details will be up for you to use.. and hopefully we can all spread the word..

When you check the Online ranking, try check F1 on all tracks, and see the name tag on all 1'st places with S2 Tires, I think it's holl01 from Australia, But Wow He is someone to beat Chronos and JvM (Fuji contest Winners), and if you read this Holl01 then I'm on my knee's here, and a truly fan of yours ;o).

EDIT: It's now all the tracks where he own the 1'st place ;) Brillint Driving (but on Fuji he should have had a Next lap invalid, after last corner

That comp is quite a bit different than what's being proposed here.

This comp would have one combo per week. The other combo requires 6 per week. Quite a large difference in time commitment.

Yes, agree it has more of a commitment. But, one's level of commitment is up to one's self.

I'm wondering if that might be why some members are shying away from it?

I spent some time with the first combo, got in 5 times (out of 6), then spec III hit, along with an early deadline. Not much helping that, as Moose has no control over Sony's update schedule, but it left me cold on the whole thing.
 
yea im not up to having to race every day. ya know i do like to play other games then GT5P (yes i know thats blasphemous). i like this alot better i only have to spend 1 or 2 days out of the week trying to that perfect time instead of my day every day. im all for this.

oh and the fuji time trial was great fun good job to the guys who got under 1:17 i could get to 18.3 but every time i did i just barely went to deep into a corner and got a invalid time.
 
I really miss the 500pp and 600pp races, so this should be a good chance to get back to driving some of those cars.

If you need any help on leaderboarding this, don't hesitate to ask. I got the old 8-week WRS leaderboard hiding somewhere waiting to be re-used so ...

About Holl01 (Dan from Australia) ... he used to be our all-time WRS champion who shied away a while ago, but apparently he's smashing leaderboard now somewhere else :)

Maybe add a poll to this thread to put down a number of drivers easily?
