Wow what a stunning lap, and P4, amazing. Congratulations!

I wonder one thing, do you in this position see where you can find that extra time to be even faster? And how and what do you do to find those miliseconds? And what would you do to find extra time if they have not saved the ghost so you are on your own?

Congrats again, great lap!
Hi mate!

Of course, there is always a way to go faster! On the whole this lap is pretty clean but there are a few places that I wasn’t happy with; a car and tyre combo like this is a bit difficult to understand because of the complicated power delivery and the strange characteristics of the tyre model; trying to figure out whether taking the grass costs you time or not, exactly where to shift rpm wise, whether to use power understeer rather than letting the car roll, using partial throttle during corners to aid rotation.. there’s a lot going on here. Even using kerbs to get the car to rotate more and kill that power understeer.

As for my lap; this car seems to need 2nd gear exits for a lot of the slower corners which is tricky to pull off without a big slide, this is the first lap that I got a good exit out of the first chicane, but the second I get a bit of oversteer which cost me some time. Same in the third sector where it’s not obvious when you can get on the power on the right hander before the double left under the bridge including how much grass to take; most of the third sector is a bit of a mess of trying to figure out when to get on the power anyway, especially the lead up to the final long right hander.. do you go full throttle with understeer or is it quicker to use partial throttle on corner exit? Then in that long right hander is it better to keep it tight to the kerb or do as I did and go a bit wider and try to get the nose tucked in to get on the power earlier for the relatively long run to the finish line.

So yeah even if you can identify where you are losing that bit of time, actually putting it to action is another thing entirely and sometimes it’s just a question of keep practicing until you get the muscle memory when it comes to braking force, throttle application etc etc

Love the car, I don't feel it suits the track though, mind it doesn't help I'm terrible at autopolis haha but this will do if I don't go back to improve it, least I got 1m gauranteed

What a lovely drive of a TT - finally one I enjoy after a few weeks. Probably won't improve on this but it was a lot of fun to sit down for an hour and go. The only area that I really struggled was when exiting corners in 2nd gear. Slow speed corners are my weakest area so it was a nice challenge to confront them with a fairly well behaved car.

Hope the rest of you can enjoy this one too :)

Well, it seems that my silver/gold thunder has come to a rather expected end with the NSX @ Autopolis. Managed to scrape together a 2:02.961, bronze is secure and will try for silver but this isn't my car for sure :)
Just don’t over drive it, be steady and really conscious of the way it’s pointing before doing anything.

You got this it just requires that little bit of delicate touch when making inputs.

Well no, as you know with me when I say that it's the last test, 🤣🤣 well it's never the last,🤣🤣 especially when I love the combo...
And there, frankly, I really love it. I know it's only the first day and there aren't many people yet, but it's been a long time since I started a TT so strong.
Improve my time at 1'57'511

Torn on this new TT, ran about a dozen laps and I am a few tenths off gold so decent enough but it is a hateful last sector, the track is good until that mickey mouse rubbish at the end. As with the GT350 though, having trouble judging braking and corner entry, sometimes too deep/fast and sliding and others just too damn slow, tough to find the balance.

So... I decided to give this another go, or two, or three... :)

The progress was like this:
2:02.961 (above mentioned)
2:02.365
2:01.534 - it's maybe still silver but won't be very soon
and then this:

Normally, I would say that I'm happy but I wasn't really sure that it's gonna be any better than my previous best - until after I saw that the relative became much better in the double righthander after the last hairpin. I was sliding so much in this lap that I'd say there's at least 0.5-1 second hidden there, I'm pretty sure that qualifies as overdriving the car :D I'm still not sure whether I'm cut out to reach gold, especially that we're on the first day only but would like to believe that my silver's gonna stand. Gonna try to get better, of course but I know my limits. Of course, another big thank you to @Tidgney for his guide, gave me some very important pointers (plus a shoutout to the community to push slackers like me to get better :gtpflag: ).

I still don't like this car though, it's not even in my garage yet and even if I'd won the jackpot, I wouldn't buy one. On the other hand, I took out the '02 NSX-R at the same track and oh boy... Not that I could tame it really but it was sooo much more enjoyable. Sure, it's about half the power but also 1100 pounds/500 kilos lighter and that doesn't lie. I didn't really appreciate the NSX in period, not at the first time, at least but it's certainly grown on me. Unfortunately, no one seriously looking for one would be endangered by me as I don't have the funds to get one but it's in my dream garage.(I also tried out the NSX GT500 at Autopolis, well, that's another level anyway :) )

If you want to see the sliding party:

Very good first session despite me having a very love and hate relationship with Autopolis. I don't like it in road cars but I really enjoy it in super high downforce cars like the Super Formula, Red Bull X2014 Standard or even something ridiculous like the SRT Tomahawk X. I think there is still more time in this lap so I will be giving it another run

A first 10 lap session in the NSX got me a perfect gold (for a couple of minutes 🤣 )

My fastest lap was pretty sideways thru most of the turns. So there should be time to find. And the steering wheel on the wrong(! 😁) side wasn't helpful (1st time i had that in VR).

I'm a bit dissapointed by the NSX suspension. I hoped it would be more sports car'ish than sports boat'ish!

Not a bad start to proceedings. I learnt a lot after the time trial here with the Viper so driving this car around was relatively easy in comparison. You don't get any nasty surprises because the car is always giving you timely feedback and actively working with you instead of against, which is a nice change. I think the tyres help it's cause dramatically as they respond in a much more natural way compared to the racing tyres that have been fitted to the GT350 R...

Morning folks,

So first session in the NSX, and what a joy to yeet this one compared to the Shelby, so playfull and slidy, little difficult due to the battery power in lower rpm but that's just getting used to it.
But kind of difficult to be tidy with this combo, and beeing tidy is needed i guess...

I had optimals to make @Dan_Tes dream about me at night but it didn't come out fully 😂
But all not to shabby for a start, into the 56's 😁

To be fair this was a very sloppy lap, i mist somany apexes, so there should be a few tenths to grab here,

After my first couple of laps with the NSX at Autopolis, I was thinking this car is worse than the Shelby. Then I started to get it….

But for a while, with TCS0 I was stuck around the 1:58.6 time, in gold but not that impressive.

Then I switched TCS to 1 and pulled this out the hat!!!!

I was actually 268 when I got it. Fell 4 spots already.

Shockingly I’m also the fastest American on the leaderboard, though there’s quite a bunch of us in that 1:57.6 range

Just funny that I mentioned in my post yesterday that I took out the ‘02 NSX-R after I suffered a bit with the new one. Then this comes up today morning on YouTube :D (sorry for being off-topic but it fits perfectly)

Managed to wrangle the Ford to a safe silver, what I cannot understand is how folks don't lose the rear on entry? I feel like the car has a strong front end, can really turn in but the rear locking up relentlessly, especially when I lift the brake. It feels very tentative, I am never hustling the car at all and it's not because of power oversteer, the car has grip, it's the back end locking on entry that is killing me.

Delaying downshifting seems to help a bit to stabilize the rear on entry but still is far from an easy car to drive 😁 😂

Back for a session at Laguna today and I'm reminded of how I like the circuit but HATE those stupid lumps of kerb, do they serve a purpose other than to frustrate and why are they seemingly designed to throw a 2 ton car into the dust without a care in the world?

All that said, I have wrestled this overpowered Ford into Gold, where I hope it stays because I'm not sure I could bear to go again in this combo. The car is ok, I guess, it looks nice and angry at the front and has a wonderful engine note but the very idea that a jet engine on a flimsy chassis, mounted on tyres which are the equivalent of 4 blobs of marshmallow, should be unleashed around the undulating kerbs and cambers of Laguna Seca is madness personified.

So, yeah, if everyone else could stop trying to get a better time here, that'd be great :D

Have a great weekend, everyone
