I finally had to go at Dragon Trail Seaside with the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

Ugh.

Ponderous handling and the Chicane of Death did did not make for many happy laps. I spent most of my laps, either brushing the barrier where I couldn’t even notice it or being timid and losing a second and a half through that corner. :banghead:

In the end, I did manage to pull out a safe lap.

I feel like I should aim to get in the 1:49s or sub 2% but I’m not sure I like this one enough to try some more.

This might be it.

What a terrible experience at Catalunya....
@Jeje6410 ...you tricked me....🤣
That thing has such a bad way of understeer very unpleasant drive for me, did hit a 28 this morning and that's that.....I'm running 🤣

You are incredible because you say that she is unpleasant for you but you still manage to do a great time on the first try....

The TT is still very young but 249° at +1.96% looks like this will be a though one on the overall quantity of people that will be able to gold it.

Yeah I think Indeed that a lot of people will struggle for gold on this one, top times are bizar fast already, they don't make mistakes 🤣, and personally I always have more trouble with fast high downforce combo's...
Took me fair amount of laps this morning to even gold it, but once I understood or got used to the powerdelivery times came down fast..
Sort of smooth is fast, gently feeding throttle and eliminate 1th gear....I noticed top guys use 1th on the tighter corner exits but that's not for me 🤣, rotate on 1th and gently out in 2nd did the trick 🤣

Managed a 28.6XX with the Alpine last night and plan to revisit. I find the combo incredibly frustrating but also rewarding so I'll lean into my masochism a little bit. If you see me sitting trackside and acting a little loopy, you'll know that I'm just in my happy place...

This car is tricky on the curbs and I find myself really struggling to unwind the wheel on corner exit because of it's crazy understeer. I find myself locked into steering and putting too much power down before opening back up. I'm not so sure that my goal is go faster but try to unlearn bad driving habits. It feels extremely counterintuitive to open up the steering with this car...

TLDR: splurge of thought, I'm a sucker for punishment

I gave the Alpine another shot......and yes!...
I still dislike it 🤣🤣

T9.. the righthander is a pure mistery....on the curb oversteer ...off the curb...understeer into oblivian...

Then the last few corners, I nail them everytime when starting the lap, but the same corners feel totally different at the end of a lap ....for me in a negative way 🤣🤣

Found some time though, was hoping to found some love with it, but didn't happen 💔🤣

Still nasty but just a little faster

So guys... my wife asked me what i think about per. Translated: would you like me to gift it to you?

I have mixed feelings, but I never tried it, so I'm coming to you for advise

Don't think it helps developing skills/using skills better
Not sure i can wear it for long time
I have (important) glasses, would not spend additional money for psvr lens/glasses
I'd rather save money for a dd whell (yes i know psvr is about 40% of a dd wheel, so it's not a 1v1 swap)

so, all in all, i"d say no thanks

What do you think?

The problem is quite the opposite. The wheelbase is so heavy and the Playseat Challenge so light that only the slightest nudge is necessary to make it tip over.
If you have a little space at home, I advise you to go and look at this site :

As I don't have much space at home, I made it to measure in black aluminum profile and nothing moves. It comes from Poland and it's cheaper than Motedis. Everything arrived perfectly in 3 days: excellent cuts and the right size and all the screws and brackets were there.

I don't have a tub because I don't have room to put it and my wife doesn't really want it. I've already managed to get her to accept that. I can move it without any problem and put it in a corner.

I borrowed a friend's to try it out for a couple of weeks and I know some people on here rave about it, but I just don't get it. After using them in maybe 20 sessions over around 2 weeks, my thoughts:
  • I also wear glasses, so it is not comfortable and you often feel like your glasses are up against the lenses.
  • Despite following all the advice on nausea, I couldn't use it for more than 15 min or so.
  • The graphics are poor. It is as if someone has put one of those insect screens people put on doors, in front of you.
  • You don't get the HUD info you might need.
  • You are stuck in cockpit view- fine if you usually use that, but I prefer bumper.
  • They come with built-in earbuds for sound, which are crap. They keep falling out and the sound is not great. So you need to buy proper wireless headphones, I suspect.
So in my opinion, go for the DD wheel instead.

EDIT: Not sure what seat you use and what your space situation is, but what made the biggest difference for me going from a PlaySeat and G29 was changing the rig to a Rock Solid Rig (but any solid one would be good too). The stability it gives means you have more control over inputs. So may be worth upgrading that first because the G29 is not a bad wheel. Hope that helps.

Wheel and rig first. I own and play exclusively in VR and wouldn't go back to flat at this point unless I had to, but dollar for dollar the DD wheel is a huge upgrade.

It is an amazing experience but I had to send mine back after two weeks because I couldn’t shift the sickness and didn’t like the graphics downgrade.

The immersion though is like nothing else and I totally get why people love it. If they ever release a PSVR3 I will be trying it again.

My daughter (a spunky 2nd grader!) loves to play Vacation Simulator in the PSVR. I’ve tried it with Gran Turismo. Made me nauseous when doing anything more than driving in straight line but I’ve since built a tolerance for it. I agree that you lose important info. When I’m driving I often think “I need to hit specific mph on this apex to keep pace” and it’s much harder to glance at your speed while driving certain cars. But you trade that for a ton of spatial awareness. I also agree that DD wheel and load cell pedals will help you build muscle memory and improve with practice. I second prioritizing those.
I wasn’t sitting in it while it happened 😄

The problem is quite the opposite. The wheelbase is so heavy and the Playseat Challenge so light that only the slightest nudge is necessary to make it tip over.
This is so true. I had to counterweight mine at the back and side where it opens. Strict protocols for getting in and out. May solicit a few solid rig cockpit recommendations in the future, spousal acceptance factor will be critical 😂
