Just did a couple of laps of Alsace as I have never driven the test course in that direction and only the reverse in Samba busses and beetles…

Will be super fun and if you play in VR and get a little queasy you might wanna put on some travel sickness bands or learn to drive half of the first sector with your eyes closed 😝😉

@Pesselles what were you going to tell us? Are you keeping a secret from us for getting gold in the TT's. Lol, just joking. I miss doing the TT's at Alsace. I was dreaming about it the other night. I regret selling my ps4 and ps5. I'd be chilling and hot lapping with you guys today if I hadn't gotten so greedy at Doordash in October of 2024. Valuable lesson learned.

I wish I had a time machine to go back to the beginning of 2024 to make things right, and I wouldn't have asked you guys for so much help cause all it did was cause chaos. Well I'll be on my own from now on. Like my stepdad told me 15 years ago, "Son, if you want a job done right, you gotta do it yourself." I'm worried enough about my mom who is still going through ovarian cancer, I could careless about getting gold medals. You can't put a price tag on your health.

So, for me the TT's will have to wait until November/December.

SO CLOSE TO ALIEN BADGE TERRITORY grrrrrrr

Currently 107th....my latest stint got me this optimal (split over my two valid laps).... Who'd have thought it would be the middle sector that let me down! Messed up the braking for cruise corner through tiredness.

I reckon I can get a good hour or so in the morning..... This might be my only opportunity! Alarm set for 6am and I'll allow myself ONE snooze....

(2,060km total, 8 oil changes and 8 car washes in case any of you wondered 😂😂)

I don't hate this. Just hopped back on after nearly a week. I did play for half an hour Monday but it had been long enough that the half hour I played I couldn't even warm up.

Tonight was different. Found the groove about an hour in and once I started gaining I made about 3 tenths in twenty minutes. I love when that happens! It clicked all together at once very nicely. If I had a little more time I almost guarantee I could gain another tenth or two. Fun trial... I love these floaty feeling cars that do actually grip if you are accurate. The curbs are a crapshoot, until they aren't. I enjoyed this puzzle very much. The COD in VR is insanely fun but so tricky.

Sorry @ElectricNaz ... 😬💜

This may be one of my least favourite combinations from all the trials I've done, and for some reason i put 800km into it.

Everything about this trial felt like it was designed to be as annoying as possible.

Starting with the track, Dragon Trail seaside is always a bit painful due to the track limits abuse and mountainous kerbs. Right from T2, you're basically cutting that corner, then again at T5 where its 2 wheels on the grass and 2 on the kerb to get the optimum line. The esses are a series of track limits excursions, particularly in the second half. And to achieve all these corner cuts, you have to tackle kerbs the size of speed bumps that would more than likely buckle your wheels if you hit them in reality. The number of times the kerbs at T2,T5 and the esses have ruined a lap by chucking the car up on 2 wheels and sending me off into oblivion. And if you've managed to survive all of that, now you're faced with the chicane of death which on its own, provides 3 opportunities for a lap invalidation.

Then we move onto the C5 Corvette. The gear ratios in 3rd and 4th are simply too long and cause the car to bog down, if they were slightly shorter the wheelspin would be manageable and acceleration would be much better out of the tighter corners. Suspension is a bouncy mess, possible the worst suspension set up for this track, particularly through the esses and chicane of death where the car is wobbling around after each kerb hit while you're trying to get it pointed in the right direction for the next apex. Finally the differential is clearly an old outdated system that doesn't know what to do with itself when presented with an uneven surface, such as a kerb (of which there are many).

This trial frustrated me to no end. Many sessions were had with little to no improvement, lots of invalidated laps, lot of restarting and lots of mistakes. For reference, my best ranking in the S2000 around Grand Valley of 22nd, came after just 300km, compared to 800km around here.

The best lap itself was pretty mediocre, S1 was good but not my best, S2 was average, with poor lines through the esses and a squirrely exit out of T12, then S3 was horrible. The Chicane of death was lazy, and I didn't carry the speed or get the exit that I've had previously, the final right hander was slow, upshifted from 2nd to 3rd too early which meant I didn't get the full rotation and had to delay getting on the throttle slightly, also just didn't carry enough speed through the corner. Optimum was a 1:48.6, so I feel I've left at least a tenth on the table with this one.

Have given the Alpine an initial go around Catalunya, and that thing has some crazy understeer, so I might give that a break and settle for a safe gold.

WHAT A LAP! MEOW MEOW MEOW BABY!

Sure, I've come closer to the gold before but this lap was one of my absolute best. It wasn't perfect as my first sector was down on my best but I managed to pull something incredible out of my furry arse in the last sector. I was on the limit the whole time and I felt like I was going to lose control at any moment. As I exited the last corner, I knew I'd done something special as the time delta from my previous lap was 0.9 seconds up on a 1:50.4. Of course the delta fell a bit but that didn't stop me from celebrating a truly incredible lap. Not even my brother could criticise me.
img_4686-1.jpg

I used the ripple strip to hook me through the third corner.
img_4685-1.jpg

It's insane how you can get away with this.
img_4688-1.jpg

What's that coming over the hill? Is it a monster or a Corvette?
img_4689-1.jpg

I actually had a bit of oversteer here.
img_4690-1.jpg

On the absolute edge of grip. Look how low the right side of the car is.

img_4695-1.jpg
img_4696-1.jpg

Fine margins through the chicane of death.
img_4694-1.jpg

A little more oversteer as I exit the chicane of death.
img_4691-1.jpg

Hard on the brakes for the last corner.
img_4684-1.jpg
img_4683-1.jpg

This is how close I came to fluffing up the lap. If I was a few centimeters over, I would've grabbed the inside of the ripple strip and thrown the car sideways.

I have to say, this time trial has been an absolute blast. The C5 Corvette is a gem and the track is a certified classic with a huge amount of character. Every corner feels different. There's odd camber in places. It has walls that punish you. There is a genuine risk vs reward factor here and that's why it craps on St Croix.

Well that's quite coozy right there 🤣🤣
Nice job bud!

Golded the Alpine yesterday. Usually dont like VGTs but this one felt quite real and challenging to drive, specially in VR those covered wheels don't let you see the kerb in some corners.. And in Barcelona, ugh not my favorite track. And i'm from Barcelona.

Got back yesterday after a month of work. Was upset as I barely got time to play the Dragon Trail TT. I love the flowing nature & long extended flat kerbs which allow the corner to get forgiving. Corne entries & exits on these kerbs adds a different thrill.

Just got to drive a few laps to get inside the Silver territory. Even though the Spanish Grand Prix is there this weekend, it doesn't make me a fan any more of this track in the other TT. I detest this track even from F1 standards.

Hoping the new TT has some more character to it.

You're right Mate. This track is so much fun I could drive around it for hours despite Sports tyres. The flowing nature & the undulations in the track make it a bomb of a track.

The results for TT142 at Dragon Trail - Seaside in the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5) '01 are over here. I have updated the opening post with the index of all TTs and the second post with the community scoreboards. A reminder that each driver's results for every TT is in the Excel file attached to the latest results post.

Here are some interim statistics for TT143 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya GP Layout No Chicane in the Alpine Vision Gran Turismo 2017.

Pretty happy with my Corvette run! Sadly, time didn't allow for more pushing, but I still did a fair few laps.

Really struggling with the Alpine, managed to creep into Gold but suspect it won't last, I just can't get the car to stick like many of the ghosts seem to. Catalunya is so unforgiving if you take even the slightest wrong line into corners and judging the acceleration points are a real challenge for me.

Loving the look of the 2 new TTs though, I'm a big fan of Tokyo and it looks like the M6 is viable and that's one of my favourite Gr3 cars, knocked a quick livery up for the 370z earlier

Well I pushed for gold at DT last night and managed to drop a few tenths off my time but couldn't crack the line. Frustrating as hell. It felt like a much more difficult TT to me than it apparently actually was based on how others seem to have found it. I only managed to get optimals in the gold range last night for the first time.

Gave the new ones a quick run this morning on the controller. I'm going out of town this weekend so I might squeeze some wheel time in tonight and see if I can make a big jump in the vgt because I've grown accustomed to getting golds in these things so I don't want silvers to become a habit.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial: Dog Eat Dog

Two new Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trials are now available, as the regular fortnightly cycle of events is supplemented by a special challenge as part of the Gran Turismo World Series live events that start in London next weekend...

Tried both new TTs on controller. At Alsace I'm at 54.948 (optimum 54.6), once I manage to get on with the wheel, I fully expect to reach (and keep) silver, enjoyed the ride even with the controller. In Tokyo I did 4 or 5 laps with the 911 RSR (Porsche shill here), easy Bronze with 2:07.207. I'm pretty sure I can make it better on the wheel, gonna try it for sure but don't see myself reaching silver on this and I'm fine with that. Now, I just need to find the time, especially to get silver on Catalunya...

Managed to wrestle that wretched Vette to a safe silver, really joyless that was but I will take my million beans. The Alpine was quite nice to drive, I also like Barcelona without the chicane, a real "real" track that feels like a real race track. Managed a very unsafe gold, by like half a tenth so let's see if t holds, though my optimum is a solid 4 tenths faster.

Initially cringed when i saw Alsace but then saw it is the phallic track, never tried it so let's see how she goes. As Tokyo, bleh, never liked any of the options at Tokyo. We are in dire need of more real tracks, i refuse to believe the licences for left of field tracks are all that expensive. I mean what would Malaysia charge, or Turkey, or Magney Course or Philip Island or Eastern Creek?

Here's the first of 2 time trial guides for today for you! Got to drive my actual car in game again which was fun! Spooky as I've just put it up for sale yesterday mind 👀
Such is the life of a family man. I owned a 1969 Giulia Coupe when single, had to sell it when family arrived. 15 years later with kids aged 11 and 7 went with a 911 as it has 2+2 for the little blokes.

Played a few laps of the Tokyo TT. I must say I love all formats of the Tokyo track. The RS tyres really compliment the flow of the track.

In the Supra, I managed a best of 1:59:056 for a 3000+th rank.

P.S. - A GR car around Tokyo is reminiscent to an F1 car around Imola or Monaco.
