Hey all - very behind on posting here. Real life challenges mean that I'm typically getting 2hrs or less to participate each week. I need to go back to Interlagos in theory, but likely won't have the time before the deadline. I don't enjoy the track at the best of times, and when there is some incarnation of a 911 for the alternate event, I'll always go with that!. First proper session yesterday after a quick run earlier in the weekend has yielded some positive results. The optimal is tantalizing, but I'd be happy to split the difference and get to .25.

After a few more tries at Fuji I gave up and watched @Tidgney's video to help reach silver. Total success as far as the goal goes, shaved off 1 second from my previous time to get into the silver range, so big thanks to you, Mr. Grady!

I was basically at the same percentage initially with the GTO at Interlagos. I'm standing there at +4.7%, and I feel that both times are solid. I may try both TTs to get a bit better but to be frank, I feel zero incentive to do them. I simply can't get a better feel and I'm also very realistic about my capabilities. Super happy to continue the silver streak and looking forward to the next TT on Thursday.

Guess I was lying when I said I wouldn't do too well around here. Turns out the Ferrari suites my driving style perfectly.

While Interlagos still proves challenging for me, the GTO makes up for this with its perfectly suited rotation (at least to my driving style). My only trouble has been exiting some of the lower speed corners whilst minimising wheel spin. Carrying speed through the corner is very enjoyable, it rotates while braking, coasting and accelerating exactly as you expect it should, the gearing is almost perfect to allow 3rd and 4th gear to be usable without wheel spin. Maybe the brakes could use some improving, but what else can you expect from a car from 1984.

Also helps that its a fantastic car to listen to.

Currently losing the bulk of my time through the exit of T8, T9 and T11. Getting T11 right is incredibly tricky, compounded by the fact that its the final real corner, building the pressure if you're on a good lap. Carrying enough speed to get into the power band of 3rd, without going too wide on the kerb and getting the braking point right is a mission on its own.

Still a bit of time to be found in the optimum, I may come back to this on Wednesday night to see if I can find this time, depending on how close to the edge of the top 100 I end up at, and whether @NAXEHT beats my current time :scared:

A question for the guys that have all gold medals. Do you practice Fisherman's Ranch occasionally or are you just praying 🙏that it never gets picked?

I kinda feel like PD should give us a TT there before the game ends.
All prayer and no preparation. If they give us any rally I'd certainly have to increase my mileage to have any chance!

But honestly, my biggest prayer in relation to keeping all golds is that they don't do another world-wide event, drawing the best players in, and reducing the gold threshold, as they did for the Olympic tie-in.

While I don't have gold on every time trial from the start since I didn't do them back then but I actually would like to see Fisherman's Ranch, it's a fun and difficult track, kind of like a rally version of the Nordschleife. I get why most would hate it but it would be interesting for the fast drivers.

Had a second and presumably last session in the RUF. Where can I sign up for the „great car, awful track“ club, please? 😉

Got myself a 1:42.292, just a tenth from the top 100, but I felt much slower than that, particularly in the last sector, where NaiF‘s ghost pulled away like crazy.

Oh and: never let your daughter pick the livery! 🤣

Yes! I was going to throw in the towel tonight after only getting to within a tenth of my previous best but decided to give it one more lap. And it paid off with a tenth and a halfish gain. :dopey: I know @NAXEHT will drop me one spot, but I think this should hold for my first global top 100 of the year. Finally.

Morning folks!

Few laps in the RUF finally got me a new PB of 42.004 🤣🤣😱, but was devastated due to the stuffed up last corner......AGAIN....
Full send and almost 400km's extra on the RUF I finally cracked it! Into the 41's

VERY pleased, there is still a tenth.... but I don't know if it's worth it 🤣

Should hold for another top 100!

Just one spot, I promise! ;)

Double session at Fuji

The first one went quite OK, with a 103.4% performance. I then took a look at Tidge, all the breaking zone were more or less nailed and the mid corner speed too (given the skills gaps obviously), but thanks to the video I understood when to upshift.

That was something I should have figured out myself, it doesn't take a scientist to do, and I never put much attention to it.
Moreover I was under the impression that the red semicircle of the rev meter was a good indicator for the up**** timing. Well, it is in most cases, but not in all.... Shame on me :banghead:

However, thanks to this hint and some more lapping I ended up here.

Put a final session in with the Ferrari, found another .09, with an optimum of 1:40.441.

Don't think I would be able to pull any further time from this lap, no obvious mistakes, had really clean exits out of T8 and 9.
Really enjoyed this combo, hopefully the RUF at Fuji is equally enjoyable (unlikely since Fuji Sector 3 exists).

Jesus! Borderline impossible to put together a nice, clean lap in this combo. Harder and way more exhausting than expected, the final corner in particular...
Borderline impossible, and yet you found a way :irked: awesome lap, on the power so early exiting the final corner

Had to try Interlagos one more time...
Previous held a 1:42.358, after half an hour I improved to.... 42.344 :banghead:
Kept going because there was more in it. Improved to the magical 1:42.241, gotta love the symmetry in that one.
Ended with 1:42.177 happy with my placing, but optimal had a 1:41.995 that would put me a bit higher still...

Went to Fuji since I was still stuck at silver since my first try.
Got my time down to 1:43.614 with an optimal of 43:452, losing .16 in the final sector....
That will be it for me on Fuji.

Next TT is from july 17 till 31st, so I'll need to nail it first time als I'm leaving on holiday on saturday for 2 weeks...
The one after (july 24 till august 7) should be safe to get some decent time in

I've been quite dormant in this thread as was underwhelmed by the 2 current TTs. Even though I've achieved Gold in both of them as in the previous TT (Monza), I wasn't happy or excited to try better my PB in these.

Going a little off-topic here but what would excite me is something similar to the 4th & 5th races of the Weekend races this week (Tokyo & Brands Hatch) where I drive with the Celica GT-FOUR on racing tyres. I want to usually have such tracks in TTs that are specific to GT7 & also that have a good flow so You can still enjoy driving around during an invalidated lap.
