Drove a few laps with this lovely car at this lovelier track. Hats off to those who are well inside the Gold category. I've driven on this track before but this car's not easy to tame especially because of the SM & kerbs

After a few laps, managed a Silver time of 1:46:860 which is still about a second away from Gold. Will keep trying. I just love the exhaust sound of the car which makes it more fun despite the hardships.

I think Yamagiwa has one of the worst chicanes in the game tbh, all the time is in taking as much kerb as possible in the chicane which seems to randomly launch the car.

The Z-Tune's brakes are shocking as well unfortunately. Definitely a unique car to drive, but dreadful.
Doesn’t feel anywhere near as painful to me as for instance Monza’s…

Last run before the holidays, unless tomorrow ill get another 30 mins.

Did 3 things

1) go back to the spa one, ece though still don't like the e-thing

2) set a good enough time to get 1M

3) drive the brand new e-qashqai to lower my enthusiasm so driving I will miss it less when I am away

I initially approached last night's session with the same strategy I uncovered on Thursday, which was to give it a damn good thrashing. However things started to fall apart the harder I tried. I kept missing apexes, I kept braking at the wrong time and I kept tripping over the concrete strips lining every ripple strip. I didn't understand what was happening and it honestly felt as though I was fighting the car instead of working with it. After a bit of thought, I decided to drive with less aggression and sure enough, I started to see some progress. My sector times improved but I still couldn't put everything together and that was rather frustrating. It was starting to piss me off but I knew that I had to relax a little to find the time. Once I sorted out a few problem areas, I had what I needed to get into the gold bracket. Didn't think it would take me until 12:48AM though.

Very enjoyable car for me, especially juxtaposed against that VGT absurdity from last week 🙈. The track is a great fit as well. I like combos where there isn‘t a single make-or-break corner, and this is one of them.

I am a bit surprised that some of you find the car to behave weird or unpredictably. I thought it was very forgiving and easy to handle. Perhaps try CSA if you‘re struggling.

Very prmising start, won‘t be enough for top 100 though. Optimal is 1:43.587, but unfortunately I am very short on time these next few weeks. We‘ll see.

Happy lapping and have a great weekend.

@Gomario JSP enjoy your vacation mate, but you‘re really missing out on something 😜

Thanks mate will do!

It's a real shame I'm missing out on this one.... should have been the VGT 🤣
Seems like a very pleasant combo and would have loved to battle with you on the board!
Great lap buddy!

In a desperate attempt to gain more speed I have decided to buy a Logitech G Pro wheel. How long did it take you guys to make the adjustment from controller to wheel? At the moment I am kinda like going slower instead of faster. Having said that the settings I am using are probably not optimal.
About a month of graft to get faster than a pad but then the sky is the limit from there! Did you get the pedals too? Load cell pedals are crucial for getting faster. If you have the pedals already use the firmest sponges and get used to them early!

Yeah I have the G Pro pedals too. Pretty impressed with the build quality and everything. Hopefully I will eventually get faster. For sure it is a lot more fun to drive around with the wheel.

Load cells are for showoffs (and peeps with strong legs)… 😙

But yes, takes a few weeks. Once you understand what the feedback is telling you you’ll be flying.

It’s a fantastic set. I’m running the wheelbase at 11nm but in-game set the FFB strength to around 5 or 6, with sensitivity at 5. Definitely ease yourself into it. You’ll want the FFB strength high enough so that you can feel the pull around turns but don’t want to get physically beat-up by it. For pedal strength, I actually run it lower than most, at 21/100 while I rehab from an Achilles injury. Even at lower strengths it provides a good response and granularity.

It's automatic.
Someone earlier in the thread made it sound like it is throttle position sensitive, like maybe it will activate at partial throttle mid-corner.

This was mentioned in post 41,403 "Is the the Spa TT dumb as hell? It doesn't seem to be about racing skills but rather about the ability to activate the active aero just enough while not getting into the insane oversteer once you pull the trigger."

I was able to improve to a 1:44.208. I really focused on a couple of things… first of all, pushing very hard in sector 1 curves heading up the hill and trying to heavily leverage the oversteer heading into the last curve in sector 1. Gotta push very hard to get the car to destabilize in just the right way. Second, up-shifting at my slowest point and then accelerating out in many of the turns proved helpful.

Jumped the gun a little bit yesterday when I described this track as god awful. Its actually half decent IF you turn on CSA to strong.
Then you can hop over the curbs with a little extra assistance :gtpflag:
You said the track is god awful, I don't see Autopolis anywhere 😁
