Something happened, after about 300 miles and frankly a lot more frustration than I care to admit, I snuck into Gold, and I sure as hell hope it sticks because I don't want to return to this car, which seems more suited to Wipeout than GT.
After all those laps, I still don't quite understand what or how this car is supposed to work. Sometimes it hugs corners, and sometimes it wants to oversteer into a tree. It's a shame, as it's one of the best-looking VGTs in my opinion.
I've driven enough of Spa's wonderful corners in this thing to know the car is not consistent, maybe it's milliseconds of throttle and brake difference or millimetres of corner entry which determine how the car goes through the corner, but I usually click at some point with a basic understanding of a car's characteristics.
Still, I'm just tired and bemused but glad to keep the gold run going... hopefully... onto the Skyline.
Spent all of last night (far more time than I budgeted) just to get this measly time. Normally after this much time spent on a trial, I'd be under 1% off the top time and somewhere around the top 100.
Starting off without ASM, best I could get was a 1:54.793, barely in the gold at the time and would now be bumped into silver. Took this screenshot before setting a new time with ASM activated.
Realising that I was not getting anywhere without ASM, I reluctantly switched ASM on to see how much improvement I could find. Immediately I found another 3 tenths from my previous best. For some reason, ASM makes this car turn just that bit better during acceleration. Alas, after almost 400km in 1 night, the best I could get was a 1:54 flat, with optimal of 1:53.7.
This car is just horrible to drive on controller, it has such immense understeer and the downforce feels so inconsistent. Sometimes the turn in is fantastic, other times it doesn't want to turn in at all, I don't understand why this is the case.
Then there's the track. Ordinarily I enjoy Spa, but on this occasion, the track limits and bollards were driving me mental. The camera position in roof cam must not quite cover the entire width of the car in the FOV, the bollards ruined so many laps when it didn't even look like I was anywhere near touching them. No Name corner is too awkward and difficult to take quickly, not sure how the aliens are achieving that. It is way too easy to run wide on the exit of Les Combes and get your lap invalidated.
I feel pretty safe in saying that this whole combo might be in my top 5 least favourites, absolute garbage. Time to switch ASM back off forever.
I thoroughly despised this one at Spa. Its one of my favorite tracks but this VGT is utter garbage. Took me almost 300km to set this time on Sunday evening and I might not have a chance to have a second stint so I really do hope this time holds up.

Improved here... But I still do not understand this car at all. Sometimes the understeer is crazy. Is there some sort of hack to this thing? I noticed the steering and throttle are super sensitive on corner exit but corner entry seems highly unpredictable to me.
Jesus. Most of the time GT7 is a very controller friendly game but the odd exception does come up, the HYUNDAI N 2025 VGT time trial being one. It’s completely pointless on controller, you’re not even in the same competition. Yesterday's attempt below.
Found another tenth and a bit. Not enough to challenge @Dan_Tes or @bliprunner but we're getting there... My S1 was a 26.5 so I know there's at least another tenth for me here.
I had a much better time with the Z-Tune last night because my arms didn't feel like crap. I could actually put decent laps together without losing my composure halfway through the lap. I really was out of it on Friday and wasted too much time when I didn't have to. Just goes to show that keeping your body in order can make your life a lot less stressful.
Thank you @ALL_Aliens, my house of cards solitare time did hold, somehow
Let's enjoy our 2mln Pinhacoladas!
In fact I wish I could address it more time, as pinnacle SPA deserves big efforts - even in such a rubbish electric mobile device of shame.
Trial Mountain - I still wonder why my favorite track in GranTurismo3 has been so unliked by me in recent interations. I think TT is good opportunity for my reunion with TM.
Honestly, I thought it was all about having a groove, and being in the zone. Also, I clearly was over braking, just letting it roll was sometimes better, in some corners I was as fast as the number 1 by just letting it go (especially the right/left just after the very long straight).
On Tuesday I was sitting safely inside a medal time; but on Thursday morning I did not receive a reward. Someone must have snuck in during the last 24 hours and snuck in some time and knocked me out of the 10% buffer zone. Not cool, whoever that was.

Just so you understand the situation, the only someone who can do that is the person with the top time in the world. The gold/silver/bronze cut offs are set based on whatever the number 1 time is.

Another Thursday means another new Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial and, despite the recent update, there’s a familiar car and track for you to get to grips with over the next two weeks...
